I am archiving my family's slides and photos. I did over 700 slides, and the results are good; if the original slide is good, the detail is great. The process is simple, and controls are basic and work. One review commented that part of the slide was "cut off". This is really not correct. If you took the photo in "portrait", then you have to turn the slide sideways ("Landscape") when you scan it. It does not scan in "portrait". If the slide is very degraded in color, you might lose a bit more in the scan. I have not done prints yet. That is coming. If there are problems, I will make a new review.

This scanner works okay for 35mm, but the 120 film modes scans at a very poor low resolution. So, if you're looking to scan 35mm film or slides, it may do what you want. However, if you're looking for a 120 film solution, don't get it. Anyway, I returned it.

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox MF 4-In-1 Slide, Film & Photo Converter:

As a professional photographer looking to scan in some of my old negatives and chromes, the image quality of these scans are unacceptable. Shadow and highlight detail is gone, the color rendition for negatives is way off, and the images are simultaneously soft and over sharpened. The resulting jpeg scans are uncorrectable and unusable. Scans from polaroid prints were equally disappointing. The scanner's built in exposure controls are too basic to correct any of those problems.
I wouldn't even recommend this to amateurs and hobbyists.

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox MF 4-In-1 Slide, Film & Photo Converter:

Scanner is fast and easy to use. However it does not work well on older format negatives. Says scans 120 format however holder cuts off images on negatives and have to move negative in holder to scan other image on negative. B&H is wonderful company to order from. Fast and friendly.

I bought this product to scan 35mm negatives and 120 negatives. Reading the explora article on film scanners 2014 on the B&H site I was led to believe that this scanner would have decent image quality i.e. good enough for at least 20"x24" photo quality prints. Turns out the image quality is pretty near rubbish. I wouldn't even make a 5"x7" print with the scans that come out of this machine. There is no resolution and no colour depth whatsoever. Big mistake in buying this piece. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this scanner to convert prints and 35mm film. The scanner is super fast and produces excellent quality images.
It also works as a stand alone device by saving scanned images directly to an SD card.

**Can be used to convert dental bitewing xrays with the 120 film template.

Bought this machine with great expectations. Did a trial run with a couple 35mm slides which turned out OK, then went to photos which didn't work.
As is so often times the case with goods produced in the far east, the instructions were pitiful in at least 2 of the four languages included. Despite having
A solid technical background I could not get this device to work as advertised. Where is their Quality Assurance?

                    Tomorrow it goes back.

I got this for my dad to use to scan a life time of 35mm slides. I tested it before sending to him. As a designer, I would not be able to use this professionally, as the scan quality isn't sharp and the color was off a bit, but I compare that to an expensive drum scan. But, for transfering old family shots to digital it does a good job and is very easy to use. I found the samples that I did still needed cleaning in Photoshop. They had some noise artifacting but at the highest setting the scan came out at 22.4" x 14.2" - 180dpi. I was able to do a quick clean and color correct and reduce the file to smaller size, 8x10 and 5x7 and it tightened up the image pretty well. It'll be great for family photos.
I also didn't read the directions, cause who does that. It is exactly what I expected, a really good, not great, scanner for a good price.

I got this to put my many, many slides on an SD card. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they turned out! And I saw a lot of pictures I hadn't seen in a while since the lite box isn't usually out. The only thing I didnt like is the preview screen. It's not great.....but the ones on the card are awesome!

The scanner arrived in good condition, but there was a musty smell to it, which went away in a few days. I was debating whether to send it back for a replacement because there was a pinpoint chip in the scanner glass. But after I scanned 120mm and 35mm negatives, and color and black/white photos, from the early 1900's to the turn of this century, I didn't see any negative effects from this chip on the scans, so I decided to keep it. It took a while to understand the sparse directions, but after trial and error, I finally figured them out. I wish there was at least a more detailed manual on line that I could have referred to. Also, I noticed that I have to be diligent to remove the dust that collects on the scanner glass. However, overall I am happy with this purchase.

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox MF 4-In-1 Slide, Film & Photo Converter:

I have quite a few volumes of photos spanning marriage until the digital age made film cameras disappear. My goal is to scan these in to post digitally and to archive. I have an Epson printer that takes about 10sec to scan in a single photo.

I needed something fast, reasonable resolution, and simple to use.

                        What's great:
Simple. My wife does not deal with "expert friendly" tools that well. To put this another way, the use model has to be simple to keep her interest. From this perspective, the tool is a winner. The normal settings seem to be working great for this purpose (not using the options to brighten/darken).

Not so great: The menu system is a little strange. I have problems navigating them as you seem to be able to get into a mode that is not recoverable. I have to cycle the power if I get here and start over.

Other than a slightly cryptic use model, I don't have complaints.

I have scanned in 35mm film. Loading the holder is time consuming so I won't do this often, if at all.

I used it to scan 35mm films. Film loading into the tray was a little difficult. takes some adjustment. Also learnt that the scanner would not work without a memory card. But the results are really good. Have not tried anything else yet. Have scanned 2 35mm rolls thats it.

I did research to find the correct machine for my needs....great for 4x6 and 3x5 pics, and wonderful for slides...I use adobe to really spruce up the pics online and they look like new...would be nice to have a cutout for the really old 2x4 inch black and white 1930 pics....but the machine works as it says and ordering was no problem...
