If you can spare another $300 or $500 on a more professional stabilization platform then go for it. This shoulder rig is fantastic for a beginner like me but wouldn't offer the same versatility that a more expensive solution would offer.

    Pros:
The build quality (for an "assembly required product") is actually superb, considering the price point. It feels incredibly solid and does not fall short in terms of aesthetics. The Revo does offer some customization in terms of where you can position the camera mounting screw (left, right, forward, and backward) as well as how far forward you want the baseplate positioned. Technically the arm of the Revo can be lowered, but I cannot see how that would be too useful. The overall feel of using the shoulder rig is quite comfortable, providing a pleasingly steady shot (mind you, with little practice).

    Cons:
There is only one hand grip available (leaving one hand open for pulling focus/zooming) which limits the overall stability of the rig - then again, a proper dual-grip shoulder rig for under $100 would be downright lunacy. The Revo is also limited by how far you can extend the camera baseplate. I think most people would be comfortable with the distance from them that the camera would be mounted, however some more flexibility would be appreciated. There is no counter-weight on the shoulder pad of the rig, but the Revo does include a noticeably wide hole at the end of the frame - likely for the option of providing your own counter-balance.

    Overall:
Being a high school student, I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. This platform will definitely come in handy for my event videography and filmmaking; the aches and pains of multi-hour continuous handheld shooting will no longer be an issue for me. The Revo is perfect for an amateur like me that just needs something basic until they can afford professional grade equipment.

I'm 6' 4", so the length for me is too short. My wife who is 5' 7" doesn't seem to struggle when trying to use it. I work with other shoulder rigs that have more reach and don't have the same issue. If I could extend it out a few more inches I think it could be a workable product. But being so close to me, my hand is more bent than is comfortable when holding it. Going to keep trying and see if I can get use to it, but so far I keep putting it back down when on shoots. While the price seems nice, it's just too short for me to work with at my size.

I used this support with my %D Mark III, it works great in helping hold a steady shot while still giving the handheld look. It is easy to assemble and is very quick to mount the camera on it.

Comments about Revo SR-1000 Shoulder Support Rig:

I work full time as a videographer and this little rig has earned its keep. Its great for someone starting out who is on a budget, or for solo run-n-gunners who dont have time or man power to be messing about with larger more complicated stabillization systems.

The build quality is extremely implessive for its price point, everything is solid and stays tight, even after 8 straight hours of shooting. It also gives the user some choice as to camera placment on the plate as well as the ability to move the camera backward or forwards along the rails.

There have been a few minor issues had with this rig they were all easily solved thanks to its design.

The 1/4 screww mates the camera directly with the plate, so anytime you want to take your camera off the rig it can be a bit cumbersum, it also lacks the standard 15mm rail system that most shoulder rigs are comprised of so there is nowhere to mount anything like a matt box or follow focus, I solved both of these problems by adding a small rail kit with a quick release plate to the rig via the 1/4 screw attchment, it was a cheap fix, I now have rails on the shoulder rig and I can remove the camera via the quick release plate in a couple of seconds.

The only other problem is that it does lack a counterweight, but the back end of the shoulder mount already has 1/4 holes so you can add one, I mounted a battery pack to it and use it to power my audio recorder and light when im shooting.

I have clocked hundreds of hours with this little rig and im still a fan, its just a good product, I promise you wont be dissapointed.

Comments about Revo SR-1000 Shoulder Support Rig:

This shoulder rig has been fantastic. The image the company uses makes the camera look like it's way too close to your face, but it ends up being right where you want it to monitor focus during a shoot. It's a simple, sturdy design that serves to stabilize camera movement and offers a natural (but steady) feel to shots.

I ended up adding a 2.5lb counter weight on the shoulder end - there's a spot to screw it into, all you need is the appropriate hardware. I'd encourage this to the more serious videographers looking for extra stabile shots with heavier equipment (without making your back sore as heck on a long shoot).

This is a great rig. I have tried many, and this is comfy, and works best w a counter weight. I shot for 9 days straight on a travel doc project and it was perfect.
For the price, you cant do better. I love it even more that all the Zacutos and Red Rocks I have rented. Its limited in that you can not modify it much. It only adjusts so far, so you should def try it before buying it.

I use this mount with a 5D with a variety of lenses. It gets a little heavy on your shoulder the larger the lens, but the metal components hold up great and I never worry about my camera tumbling off to the ground. It can be set up for either shoulder. It's lightweight enough to carry anywhere, but sturdy enough to provide that extra stability.

This mount is great for my smaller HD camcorder. I needed a support for stabilization and moving quickly - it works great. It could be a little easier to fold up and fit in my bag. And like some have said, the picture shows that the item is red and black, when in reality it's really more of a pink and black color. Practically it does exactly what I need at a fraction of the cost of some of the other shoulder mounts - worth the price. Would buy again.

Comments about Revo SR-1000 Shoulder Support Rig:

The pictures don't do this rig justice. I found all the metal parts to be well made. I thought the two wire "rails" would be cheap, thin and flimsy--they are not. This is a very sturdy rig if you stay within the weight limit--up to 5.5 pounds. The only negative thing I have to say is that I cannot get the camera plate high enough in order to comfortably use this with my Canon 5D III. It's still usable, but I have to scrunch up my shoulder in order to see correctly through my Zacuto Pro finder. If you are using a DSLR that has a pullout viewfinder that can angle up or down, then this would be a nearly perfect, inexpensive rig. I would think this would be good for small, consumer video cameras too.

The Revo SR-1000 Shoulder Rig is an affordable way to stabalize your HDSLR on your shoulder. It's very easy to set up, and you can walk around with it a whole day without killing your arms. It's also very comfortable.
However, I would recommend you buy it with the counter weight. Here is the B&H code to that: MA172. I don't know why B&H doesn't put it in the accessories, but I would not be able to use the rig comfortably without the counter weight.

Very durable, great build quality. Very solid. Not very customizable, but it's not supposed to be. All in all great. But it's pink. I'm not talking "well if I squint it looks KINDA red..." no. It's 100% flaming hot pink. With a metallic sparklyness. Ugh. I tried to take a picture of it to show my brother and it looked redish in the picture so it's hard to show people unless it's in person. I would recommend investing in a can of matte black spray paint and taping off the rubber grip on top. It's pretty easy to give it a paint job. 24hrs later you've gone from Hello Kitty to Batman.

Just as stated this shoulder support rig is perfect for filming my club's waterfowl hunts. It is very comfortable and adjusts quickly to fit different camera men.

I got this for my son for Christmas. He's fairly picky when it comes to camera equipment yet he was very pleased with this. It is comfortable and provides the extra stability he was after. A great buy for the money.

This is a great overall product but It needs to come with a strap so you can have it hang around your neck when not in use.

Comments about Revo SR-1000 Shoulder Support Rig:

I'm 6' 4", so the length for me is too short. My wife who is 5' 7" doesn't seem to struggle when trying to use it. I work with other shoulder rigs that have more reach and don't have the same issue. If I could extend it out a few more inches I think it could be a workable product. But being so close to me, my hand is more bent than is comfortable when holding it. Going to keep trying and see if I can get use to it, but so far I keep putting it back down when on shoots. While the price seems nice, it's just too short for me to work with at my size.

Put it together in about 5 -10 minutes with absolute ease. It works pretty good in a pinch to get pretty stable shots. I do wish it folded up or something and had a case as I will be traveling with it. Overall it is totally one of the best options you have for anything close to this price.
