The Revo ST-500 Handheld Video Stabilizer is a handheld camera support device designed for shooting smooth, shake-free video. Once mastered, camera operators can use the ST-500 to create fluid, "floating" camera movements, even when walking or running. The ST-500 has a max capacity of approximately 2.2 lbs, which makes it ideal for compact cameras, small camcorders, action cameras and small DSLRs.

The ST-500 employs a ball joint gimbal, which isolates the camera from incidental twisting and wobbling motions. Proper balance can be adjusted using the 3-piece counterbalance weight set, which attaches via a sliding bracket. In addition, a circular bubble level helps users to fine tune their adjustments. The foam padded handle supports one-handed operation, although two hands are recommended for optimal control.

This is an okay stabilizer. It's harder to balance but the price is great, there is one main trick is to keep your thumb on it and it helps but not perfect

Comments about Revo ST-500 Handheld Video Stabilizer:

Have had a good bit of experience with video cameras. I placed our video camera on the handheld video stabilizer and adjusted the weight(s).

In all honesty, I can see very little difference in my hand holding the camera, and the results I get when I put it on the handheld stabilizer. This includes still shots, panning, and moving in or moving out on a subject.

As far as I'm concerned, "the jury is still out" on this device. I may come to like it, but right now cannot say that I do.

Easy to use once you get the hang of it. Not sure I am using it to its fullest potential though. Picked up a quick release plate and have it configured for video camera, gopro and phone.

Comments about Revo ST-500 Handheld Video Stabilizer:

This device is minimalistic, but well made. Some initial frustration with balancing gave way to the realization that the counterweights for my small and light Sony camcorder need to be close to the gimbal, not dangling like a pendulum. With the camcorder fully back in the sliding mount, the stabilizer is pretty well balanced, although I realize my camera may be a bit too light - ideally I would move it back another millimeter or two.

Great low-price implementation of this concept. The gimble has relatively little range of motion, but it very smooth. It is difficult to replicate the balance position because there is no mark or notch to return the camera placement to when re-mounting the camera to the stabilizer.

Comments about Revo ST-500 Handheld Video Stabilizer:

This video stabilizer has worked well for what I have doing with it. The price is definitely right at around sixty dollars. I work in an area where I like to capture short video clips of people, wildlife, and scenery. Thus far, the ST-500 has worked well for taking video using my point & shoot camera, and my small action video camera. When I purchased this product I was planning on using it with my DSLR camera to take video clips during my outdoor adventures. The combination of the weights & the camera make it to heavy to carry easily on long hiking outings. Also, even with all of the weights installed I have had difficulty balancing my approximately 2 lb DLSR camera on the stabilizer. Overall it works very well for stabilizing smaller cameras, but I would recommend something heavier and more substantial for DSLR videography. I have also discovered, the combination of carrying a heavy camera and a heavy stabilizer may not be the best idea for longer hikes & outdoor adventures.
