With the increased demand put on our Wi-Fi networks, the TL-WDR3600 N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router from TP-Link comes equipped to meet all of your wireless networking needs. This high tech router comes with the ability to broadcast and receive both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connections simultaneously at 300Mbps. Along with dual band wireless, the WDR3600 comes outfitted with two USB ports giving you the ability to plug in a wide variety of devices directly into the router making them available throughout the network.

The ability to allow for simultaneous connections makes this router stand out among similar routers. With dual band connectivity you can run specific devices that require less bandwidth on the 2.4GHz frequency as this frequency is often times more congested, making it less efficient for higher bandwidth applications. The 5.0GHz frequency can then be left to applications and devices requiring faster, larger amounts of bandwidth such as HD video streaming, streaming music, and transferring of large files. This allows the entire network to work more efficiently, as network traffic can be allocated to specific frequencies.

The integrated USB ports found on the back of the router make the WDR3600 a multimedia hub. Simply connect your hard drive or multimedia hub directly into one of the router's USB ports, and make all of your media available throughout the network. The built-in media server makes sharing your music, video, and photos with devices such as Windows Media Player, PS3, or X-Box 360 a breeze. The WDR3600 is also equipped with print server capabilities, allowing for wireless printing from different computers throughout the network.

Once configured, your router becomes a gateway to all of your media and a window to the World Wide Web. As this is the case, you must secure your network to be sure your sensitive data remains safe. To do this, you can take advantage of a variety of security features found on the WDR3600. Initially, you can utilize the Wi-Fi protected setup option found on the back of the router by pressing the WPS button. This encrypts your network with a WPA2 secure connection giving you piece of mind that your data is safe. You can also choose from a variety of encryption standards including 64/128-bit WEP, WPA / WPA2, WPA-PSK/ WPA2-PSK encryption protocols. Along with the variety of encryption standards you can also implement IP QoS (quality of service) standards allowing you to limit the amount of bandwidth users on your network are allotted, thus keeping the network from becoming too congested.

Incredible Bandwidth
The N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router has the ability to run two frequencies simultaneously, allowing for a total of 600Mbps bandwidth. The N600 runs on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectrums, allowing for the expanded bandwidth. This allows you to run everyday applications on the often times more congested and sometimes slower 2.4GHz frequency. The 5GHz frequency can then be dedicated to running the more data sensitive applications such as video streaming, and transferring of large files throughout the network.
Dual USB Connectivity
With two integrated USB ports located on the back of this versatile router you can take your networking to the next level. Not only can you simply route your Internet connection throughout your home, you can now plug in a variety of USB devices such as printers, and media hubs. The USB connectivity allows you to stream your movies, music, and view pictures both locally and over the internet to friends and family. The N600's built in print server allows for wireless printing from computers throughout the network.
Full Gigabit Speeds
The four gigabit ports located on the back of the N600 allow for maximum data speeds. You can even achieve WAN to LAN throughput speeds of over 800Mbps with NAT (network address translation) hardware.
Easy Secure Setup
Keep your network performing at optimal speeds with QoS (quality of service) effectively allowing you to control the bandwidth being used by applications throughout the network. Along with QoS functionality, you can take advantage of Wi-Fi protected setup giving you one button security. With Wi-Fi protected security you can automatically establish a WPA2 secure connection providing improved security over the traditional WEP encryption standards.

Easy to set up, easy to use. Wish the radio signal was more stable but it seems fine in our house. Little weak outside where my last router was stronger. I heard DD-WRT will fix that but I bought this router for the USB connectivity but that's not supported with DD-WRT. It doesn't look like anonymous access to the FTP server is supported either so the FTP server through the USB port might not be an option anyways. The throughput is blazing fast though.

I bought this wireless router to replace an older Linksys router that was on the blink (dropping wi fi connections a few times a day).

Assuming all you want this router to do is the basics--connect your home network to the internet--this works just fine. Hook this device up directly to a computer via ethernet cable, and you can run a simple wizard to configure everything. From that point on, your wireless is good to go. 5 stars for that.

On the down side, one of the main selling points for my buying this device was to apply some restrictions for use on my kids' iPads. TP-Link advertises this as having robust family safety/restrictions that you can, but good lord, what a pain.

Clearly the controls were designed by an engineer, not your typical end user. As someone who works in the high-tech industry, I consider myself to have greater-than-average skills when handling this type of stuff. But after 2 hours of struggling with the most inane set of controls, I gave up.

1 star for the horrific, unintuitive admin control environment that does things like make you enter every device that you DON'T want to be restricted from access, instead of simply listing the few devices you DO want limit access. (Image having friends or family come visit and you have to constantly update the router's approved list with every devices MAC address if you want it to be able to have unlimited access to the internet. What a pain!)

TP-Link should take a long look at how Microsoft has defined Family Safety in their Windows environment. It's much easier to establish kid accounts, define time periods when a device can be used, and so on. Again, TP-Link has this capability, but it's so convoluted and frustrating that it's just not worth the effort.

No issues. Works great an have zero dropouts of any kind anywhere in my house. I would say don't get this if you have an old modem. Replace it as well.

My former router died, so I had to buy a new one. I am very happy to have selected this one. The previous one was supposed to be better (N750), but this one allows me to get a better signal when I am further, probably because of the two antenna. Also, the installation was very easy, at most 2 minutes.

Made cable connection from modem to tp link, then second cable to laptop for a pass through connection, but your PC or laptop recognizes it. Waited a minute, turned on laptop, inserted tp link cd and followed clear instructions. Then turned on tablet, no hitches. I'm not an expert so I'll give four stars.

This Router hosts my home network. It replace my old G wireless router. I notice this router is obviously providing a faster connection with more through put. It also has a better signal strengh then my old router.
The only annoying point is the router only supports 4 users for the smb(samba) share. Limits my ability to control user access.

I bought this TP-LINK dual band router with the TP-LINK dual band adapter together, now it has been working for more than half a month, it runs smoothly and never drops, you follow the instruction to do a very easy set up,the signal can cover the whole first and second floor with the dual band adapter together

Comments about TP-Link TL-WDR3600 N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router:

Good Looking router and great range. Never used the stock firmware and was flashed to Gargoyle. A lot of available ram and processing power.

                      Excellent stability with Gargoyle firmware.

The only con is the rebate still has not arrived yet, and it took almost 2 weeks to be delivered to me.
