Able to bring distant objects close, the 800MR 800mm f/8 Telephoto Mirror Lens for T-mount from Vivitar is an extreme telephoto lens in a lightweight, compact form. The advanced reflex mirror design of this lens makes possible its compact size and its aluminum alloy construction keeps it light and durable. Super Spectra Coatings on the lens elements provide excellent light transmission and minimal flaring. Upgraded mirror design and quality optics allow this lens, which is a fraction of the size of most ultra-telephoto lenses, to offer sharp imagery and little color aberration, even under adverse lighting conditions.

The Vivitar 800mm f/8 lens is a great asset for any photographer, whether seasoned pro who appreciates its portable size or ambitious amateur exploring the creative potential of ultra-tele photography. Utilizing a required camera-specific T-mount adapter, this lens is compatible with almost every film and digital SLR camera and will allow you to reach focal lengths which normally require a large, expensive lens.

Note! Since a reflex lens is not equipped with a diaphragm system, the use of filters and the shutter speed control play an important factor in the control of light and contrast.

Comments about Vivitar 800MR 800mm f/8 Telephoto Mirror Lens for T-mount:

I had great expectations to this lens, espesially sine I use a 500 mirror Nikon lens. But the focus is not good. I tested it on both a c-mount web camera and my
        Nikon D300.

I suspect it not to be focused properly, and I might try myself to move the secondary mirror...which is hard to do on this type of telescopes.

Comments about Vivitar 800MR 800mm f/8 Telephoto Mirror Lens for T-mount:

The lens is stamped 900mm f/8 but the box shows it as and B&H is selling it as an 800mm f/8.
Using a beanbag or RIGID tripod, a remote trigger, and locking up the mirror before shooting, I get a reasonable image IF I get the focus correct. Using the camera's rear LCD in magnify mode is about the only way to get accurate focus, so don't try imaging any moving objects. Total focus travel is about 1/4 turn of the 4" barrel from infinity to minimum distance, so micro-adjustments are required to get focus. Really needs a MUCH longer focus travel to be usable.
Metal body appears to be rugged and nicely constructed / finished, no dirt or other blemishes visible on optic, and the T-Mount is functional for a constant aperture lens. Lightweight so does not require a tripod mount, but it would be better for stability if one was available.
As someone noted on DPR it also helps to set up a high contrast and saturation preset on your DSLR for this type of lens.
