The Auray WLF Series Foam Windscreens are designed to reduce unwanted vocal pops and broadband wind noise with minimal high frequency loss.

This WLF-EC77-5 Foam Windscreen is designed for use with the Sony ECM-77 Lavalier Microphone. The density of the specialty acoustic foam is optimized to help protect the microphone element from air bursts without muffling the sound.

When used on the ECM-77, these windscreens are effective in minimizing wind noise and plosive sounds. They are most effective in calm to light breeze conditions (0-7mph), and can be used indoors for protection against drafts caused by air-conditioners. Users can generally expect a notable reduction in wind noise, with very slight dampening of high frequencies. For most applications, this is a worthwhile exchange.

The WLF-EC77-5's foam is hypoallergenic and helps prevent moisture and dirt from damaging your microphone. These windscreens are designed specifically to fit the ECM-77.

The WLF-EC77-5 Foam Windscreens for Sony ECM-77 Lavalier Microphone are an effective solution for basic wind protection.

Comments about Auray WLF-EC77-5 Foam Windscreens for Sony ECM-77 Lavalier Microphone (5-Pack):

I have used these for reducing not only wind and breath noises, but also clothing rustle.

Simple, easy to use and inexpensive, they are now a regular part of my kit.

Metal windscreens like the OEM ones provided with Sony ECM-77Bs (my go-to lavalier) are easily bent or damaged, and just love to roll into inaccessible places if dropped.

The WLF-EC77-5 windscreens, and the versions available for other mics are extremely lightweight and flexible, reducing the potential for loss or damage and help to reduce many kinds of handling noises.

I strongly suggest you look into getting a pack or two for your audio/sound kit.

Comments about Auray WLF-EC77-5 Foam Windscreens for Sony ECM-77 Lavalier Microphone (5-Pack):

Two things annoyed me about the original Sony ECM 77B windscreen... clothing rustle from the metal cage and the high cost of replacement. The Pearson 5 pack takes care of both problems. I have found that it works as well as the factory supplied original, and with less noise.

I always try to hide mics when possible, and the soft foam of the Pearson windscreen helps me do that plus provide a bit of extra protection from little gusts that might cause rumble. In some cases (for instance when I am videotaping a deposition, I leave the mics exposed. Obviously the windscreen protects against "P-popping" when a deponent of attorney gets "breathy" or excited.

Obviously, no windscreen short of a "fuzzy" will eliminate serious wind, but if you are looking for a great replacement for the ECM-77B, I highly recommend the Pearson 5 pack. Besides, if you lost your original, you know you're gonna lose more... stock up!
