The all-weather Samsung HMX-W190 5.5MP HD Pocket Camcorder (Red) supports Full HD 1920 x 1080p video recording and 5.5-megapixel still image capture. The camera is equipped with a CMOS image sensor and 2.3" LCD display that can be used for both recording and playback. There is a USB 2.0 interface for transferring data to your computer and controls for record and pause. There's also a mini HDMI output for viewing footage in Full HD on an HDTV.
For added durability, the lightweight and portable HMX-W190 is waterproof, shockproof and dustproof. Plus, it is equipped with a 3x digital zoom and One-Touch sharing, which lets you instantly send still images or video to friends and family. You can either email footage or upload your movies and pics to your favorite social media sites.

The best thing about this camera are it's simple controls. Without needing to go to the MENU area and play with the different settings, this camera works simply with one button to turn on the power and a second button to start recording. If needed, the extra controls and features are there, but are not necessary, especially for my 70 year old dad. A big plus is the water and dust resistance, so he can use it in the rain, at the beach or on their cruise.

The picture is terrible quality, you can barely recognize anyone you are recording. The record button is difficult to use, you have to press very hard to start taping and stop. As for switching to take pictures with it, pointless. The picutes are so blurred and distored that its a waste of time and money. We had been using the flip for the past 3 years without a problem until the USB stoppped connecting and looked for this as a replacement, look to a different brand and don't waste your time.

I have had this camera for about a year now, and I really do like it. It is very easy to use, simple controls. It is quick to turn-on for quick videos.
I am somewhat rough with it, and it takes it.
Now warning about is, if you go to use it under-water do be sure to us the under-water button, it is more that just a warning you get, I learned that myself. I thought that it was just that, a warning, but it closes-off the microphone and the speaker, but allows them to still work, but makes them water tight. So do use the under-water button before submerging the camera.
Also, one other con is, the tripod mount hole is off-to-one-side which makes it shake-about too much when I mount it onto my bicycle, so if the hole were more in the centre it would make it more stable.
