The compact and rugged Contour+2 Hands-Free Full HD Action Camcorder from Contour keeps things simple for capturing high-quality action video while the world is rushing past you at high speed. With a lockable Instant On-Record switch, all you have to do to start recording is turn the camera on. Plus, its durable aluminum shell is impact-resistant and Contour even includes a waterproof housing with your purchase - so you'll be able to comfortably record down to a depth of 197' (60 m). The Contour+2 has an ultra-lightweight body and its array of available mounts make it the ideal choice for skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, skydiving, motocross, kayaking, surfing, mountain biking and more.
The Contour+2 can capture 1080p, 720p and 480p video. It also supports 5-megapixel still image capture. For enhanced shot performance, the camera supports adjustable white balance, contrast, sharpness, exposure and metering. Plus, you can download Contour's available app and turn your smartphone or other mobile device into a remote control for the camera. The app also lets you use your mobile device to preview your shots.
Contour designed the camera with a wide-angle, 170° lens that actually rotates 270° in the body so that you can mount the camera at any angle, using either the standard tripod thread or the integrated TRail mount system that works with all of Contour's optional accessory mounts. There's also a high-precision laser level built right into the camera, which allows you to adjust the orientation of the lens and level out the horizon before you start recording.
The Contour+2 features built-in Bluetooth as well, which you can use to control your camera via a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device. It is also equipped with a GPS receiver, which captures speed, location, elevation and distance. This lets you infuse a geographical narrative into your movies and photos. Other features include an external microphone jack, mini-USB port and 120 frames per second high-speed video capture for super slow motion.

Comments about Contour+2 Hands-Free Full HD Action Camcorder:
I have a Contour HD1080p that I got a few years ago and have always been disappointed with, specifically the soft image I attributed to a cheap lens. I recently bought a Hero 3 Black and loved the image - when it worked, that is - since the camera has firmware and other problems and was returned to the store.
That's when I decided to try the newest Contour+2, and boy am I happy with it! The full HD is as sharp as the Hero, and the camera doesn't have issues with locking up like the Hero did. The rotatable lens is a real plus, and the sleek design, tons of mounts, etc. make it a real winner. I am so glad I gave Contour another chance - very nice camera.
P.S. The audio is just as disappointing as it is on every other cam out there, but when it matters I record with a separate recorder and dub it in later.

The Contour +2, so far, has surpassed my expectations. Great picture quality, super easy to use and the GPS data is a cool extra... The form factor of these cameras exceeds anything else on the market. The Bluetooth connection to my Android phone was easy and really enhanced the usability of this camcorder.

Comments about Contour+2 Hands-Free Full HD Action Camcorder:
This is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Very easy to use, good image quality. The build quality is better than I was expecting. The waterproof case seems very nice but it seems like it should come with some kind of protector for the lens area to avoid scratches.
Sound quality is not very good but sound isn't terribly important for most action video.
Do not buy a tripod mount for this camera, it has the insert in it already.

Comments about Contour+2 Hands-Free Full HD Action Camcorder:
The Contour +2 is a great action cam. I chose the contour over the new GoPro Hero 3 because over the better mounting capabilities and the gps data that the contour had. Also, the Contour +2 allows me to view the live video feed from my smartphone over bluetooth, which is great. Overall, I would highly recommend this action camera to anyone!

For active sports (i.e. snowboarding, and mountain biking) the camera has been easy to use and provides great quality video! The set-up is easy with the online help and being able to link it to the phone to actually see how the "shot" is going to look made it easy to get it right the first time out. Thanks!

I still have my original VholdR, the first camera from This company, non HD but a workhouse
This is by far the best action camera around, compact, non obtrusive size with excellent performance. I used this camera diving in the south pacific with excellent results, it will be on a snowboard trip next.
Overall the best action camera out there, I will be purchasing another for my kid!!!

Straight out the box, I put the battery in, inserted the supplied 4GB card, and put it on charge, a couple of hours later I was ready for action.
One big button on the top to turn it on and off, so easy!
I then setup the bluetooth to my iPhone, again, a simple task, this is a great feature, it not only allows you to view you camera live, but also start and stop it and make changes to camera settings. One handy feature is the 2 position switch on the camera, this allows you to setup two of your favourite camera settings, so with a flick of switch you can quickly swap from 1080 full res pic, to stills, but the choice is yours to what you want to setup.
The only thing I would like changes to is the storyteller software, it would be great to able to do the slow motion changes on rather than having to import the footage to separate editing software. The camera states it does 120fps but you cannot just connect it to you PC or Mac and watch it, it has to be put through software , So I think this should be something that Storyteller does , this would make this camera the perfect all round kit.

Comments about Contour+2 Hands-Free Full HD Action Camcorder:
I have the Contour Roam which I like. However, the Roam has several features I wish it had. The biggest if the ability to record more than 30 fps. The new +2 not only allows you to record in 60 fps, but you can also record in 120 fps (though at a smaller resolution). The Roam is great for its ease in use. The +2 took those aspects. There's only one real switch to start recording. No more missed shots. It also includes a really nice waterproof camera. It could double as a sturdy case in those situations you want to protect your investment. The image quality is good. There are tons of mounting options. I prefer the strap mount since it can go on virtually any object. The bluetooth aspect is pretty sweet also. The iPod app works great and the real time image only lags 1-2 secs. You can change many settings including resolution, fps, white balance, contrast, sharpness, gps, beeps, and others. You can also start recording from your app and still see what the camera is recording in real time. If you're recording in 120 fps there is no image though. Now you can setup your camera in a hard to reach spot, and record in a safe or more convenient spot. The range seems pretty good (at least 25 feet). The camera is lighter than the Roam which is nice. Also there are nice indents to indicate the position of the lens when you rotate it. There's also a tripod mount like the Roam. The GPS seems to lock on a signal really fast. I'm having trouble downloading the Contour Connect Software so I haven't been able to see how accurate the tracking is.I haven't been able to test battery life. I think the 120 fps will drain your battery a lot faster than 30 fps. Also I'm sure the bluetooth feature will drain your battery even if its not recording. Buy another battery as backup in case your activity is longer than 3 hours.Overall I'm very happy with this camera. It's light and comes with a nice case. The bluetooth aspect is sweet and will allow your shot to be perfectly lined up. It's packed with so many features but it cost [$] less than the original Contour +. The low profile of the camera makes it looks more streamlined than the GoPro. Buy this camera. You wont be sorry. The Roam will make a good camera if you want to take unique shots during your activity or good for a backup.
