Plug it into the Accessory Port of the UDMA2 and achieve a data transfer rate of up to 3.0MBps to any wireless device within range. This includes tablets, laptops, smartphones and PCs.

The 3.5" TFT color LCD display allows you to view the contents of your memory cards in fullscreen 320x480 resolution. The device is able to display JPEG images, as well as any RAW file type. New RAW file formats can be added via firmware updates. A visual information feature allows you to view an RGB histogram over your images and also provides detailed EXIF data. Zoom and rotate functions can display files at 100% pixel level to help confirm focus and image quality.

The S.M.A.R.T. system (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) monitors the internal hard drive for potential issues and includes a built-in data recovery tool to aid in recovering deleted, lost, corrupted, and formatted files from memory cards. Sort these files with ease using user-programmable scripts and computer-like file operations.

      Super Storage and Recovery

I bought the drive to save images from two of my cameras while traveling and away from a computer and also to save images from the camera of a friend with no computer access. It is still new to me so I am still learning how to use it. The first time I used the drive, I intentionally deleted a couple of images prior to saving to test the recovery. Not only did the drive save all remaining images, in recovery mode it saved the deleted images and hundreds of images from the past couple of years that had been deleted and the card formatted (short format). Impressive! The only issue I have had is in creating folders. For some reason, the display will not show the name "Sarah". The computer can see it but it does not display. I can use the last name and it displays that. These folders were created during the setup phase before actually trying to save anything to them. I'm not sure if that works as I inserted a CF card and wanted to save to a folder and it did not display any of my created folders. It may not be possible to created a folder until you are ready to save images to that folder. The user guide is does not address that. Also, regarding formating the HyperDrive. You can format the drive (I used single partition) using the tool in the drive's settings. It did not disturb the programs or empty folders. As for clearing out images after a trip, you can download them to your computer and, if desired, select all and delete all from the drive using the drive's tools. If you have no photos you want to retain on the drive, go ahead and format if you want. All in all, I am very happy with it. After reading reviews of this drive and several others that cost less and also speaking with a knowledgeable CSR at B&H Photo for his experience. I selected the 250 gb HyperDrive and feel I made the best choice. It is fast, sure, and appears to do everything and more than advertised. The only thing I can think of to make it better is to supply a longer USB cable. It may be fine for a laptop but way too short for a tower or desktop.

THE GOOD: The Sanho HyperDrive Storage Device is compact and speedy at backing up photos, which is its prime raison d'être. On my first test drive on a recent three-week holiday, it performed that function well.
THE BAD: The frustration comes from a deficient user manual, which tells you what the HyperDrive CAN do, but does not always spell out HOW TO implement the desired action. If you're an intuitive tech type, this may not be an issue for you. However, I'm the kind of person who needs a step-by-step walkthrough. Instead, for most functions, such as setting a backup target location, it was a matter of guesswork, or trial and error. Though I wanted to utilize the incremental backup feature, the first few times I tried to do so, the HyperDrive recopied the entire contents of my memory card. I was not a happy camper. I finally stumbled on the solution by chance. What does the unit's built-in wifi sharing feature mean? Yes, you can view the photos from your iPad or other portable device via its self-generated wifi network, but can you also sync/copy your newly saved photos as well? The manual's section on "Wireless File Sharing" doesn't say.
CONCLUSION: I'm glad I bought the device, but a small investment by the manufacturer could simplify the learning curve and remove unnecessary frustration for first-time users. It shouldn't be necessary to ask the seller for clarification of user functions.

I used to have an Epson P3000 portable backup unit - but it couldn't handle RAW images. This unit does - in large doses! The security of having backup when on holiday / travel cannot be underestimated.

This is much easier to carry when traveling than a laptop. you don't even have to get it out when going through airport security, just leave it in your carry on. It's a lot lighter too. This is a great way to back up a days worth of work so that you not only have your camera discs but a separate safe back up in case anything happens to your camera, like being stolen. You can always replace a camera, not so easy to replace hundreds of photos.

In advance of going abroad on a photo-workshop, the trip-leader recommended these Sanho units. So, I bought one to back up my images while traveling. I bought a similar unit 7 years ago, an Epson P-4000. That was a great device, but Espon really let users down by not publishing firmware updates and after 2-3 years it would not accommodate newer memory cards. Hence, I had to buy this one. You'd think that 7 years later, technology would have advanced and this would be better than the old Epson unit. Nope. The Espon viewing screen provided a superior view of one's work. The battery life on this Sanho unit is pitifully short. And when downloading from a memory card, it's all images or none. You cannot select images for download. So I feel as if I spent a lot of money for a device that was inferior to one I bought 7 years ago. Usually with technology, over time, you get more bang for the buck. Not in this case.

First unit shipped failed immediately. Second works fine...so far. Had some difficulty setting up to efficiently file and store images on extended photo trip.

Comments about Sanho 250GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA2 Multimedia Player / Storage Device:
