The 160GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA2 Multimedia Player / Storage Device from Sanho is a stand-alone storage device with a wide variety of data-management and security tools. The UDMA2 allows you to view and back up the contents of your memory cards without a computer or external power source. Featuring 160GB of memory on a user-replaceable SATA HDD, this device accepts 5 different memory card types, including CompactFlash, SD, SDHC, SDXC and MMC cards.

Backing up data from a memory card to the UDMA2 can be done at a data transfer rate of up to 27MBps. Using the mini-USB 2.0 port provides a data transfer rate of 480Mbps, and the device is also backward compatible with USB 1.1 technology. Wirelessly backing up your data is also an option via the included Wi-Fi Adapter. Plug it into the Accessory Port of the UDMA2 and achieve a data transfer rate of up to 3.0MBps to any wireless device within range. This includes tablets, laptops, smartphones and PCs.

The 3.5" TFT color LCD display allows you to view the contents of your memory cards in fullscreen 320x480 resolution. The device is able to display JPEG images, as well as any RAW file type. New RAW file formats can be added via firmware updates. A visual information feature allows you to view an RGB histogram over your images and also provides detailed EXIF data. Zoom and rotate functions can display files at 100% pixel level to help confirm focus and image quality.

The S.M.A.R.T. system (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) monitors the internal hard drive for potential issues and includes a built-in data recovery tool to aid in recovering deleted, lost, corrupted, and formatted files from memory cards. Sort these files with ease using user-programmable scripts and computer-like file operations.

160GBGB SATA HDD Capacity
With 160GBGB of HDD storage capacity, the Colorspace UDMA2 supports user-replaceable 2.5" SATA hard drives. Use the included screwdriver to remove and replace the currently installed 160GBGB HDD.
3.5" TFT Color LCD 320x480 Display
The 3.5" display, larger than the previous model, enables you to view both JPG and RAW files in full-screen, thumbnail, and slideshow modes.
27MBps Data Transfer Rate
Backup your memory cards at 27 MBps by inserting them right into the Hyperdrive Colorspace UDMA2. Transfer photos from the UDMA2 and to your computer via the included USB cable, at 480 Mbps - or wirelessly via 802.11b/g/n wireless networks at 3.0 MBps.
Displays JPG and RAW File Formats
View any JPEG or RAW file format that your camera records, without needing to upload images and use external software. The RAW file decoder supports all current RAW file formats, and the addition of new file types is possible with future firmware updates.
Supports CF, SD, SDHC, SDXC & MMC Cards
The UDMA2 supports CompactFlash Type I, Secure Digital SD / SDHC / SDXC and MultiMedia Card MMC memory cards. Plug any of them into the UDMA2 to easily backup or view your images.
Recover Lost or Deleted Memory Card Data
Should data be lost, there is a built-in recovery tool that aids in recovering deleted, lost, corrupted, and formatted files from memory cards.
Access Data via Wi-Fi Connected Devices
Attach the included Wi-Fi Adapter to the Accessory Port of the UDMA2, enter your network's SSID and password, and connect your UDMA2 to any wireless device. These include tablets, laptops, smartphones, or desktop PCs.
Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Interface
Designed for Hi-Speed USB 2.0, the UDMA2 can transfer images at a rate of up to 480 Mbps. It is also backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices.
Built-In 2600 mAh Rechargeable Battery
View and backup hundreds of images in a single charge with the built-in lithium-ion battery. This 2600 mAh battery can be recharged via the included AC adapter, whether the UDMA2 is turned on or off.
S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring System
The S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring System stands for: Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology. This feature continuously scans, detects, and records any mechanical failures within the internal hard drive, and warns of any failure that may result in the loss of data.

Before buying the Colorspace UDMA2, I did a ton of research, reading many, many consumer reviews. By and large the comments were positive so I bought one. I'm glad I did. This piece of gear, about the size of an old school Walkman (but not as thick), is easy to carry and works as advertised. As many others have said, the interface itself is a bit out-dated and clunky, but there's not that many times you'll ever need to access it. What I especially love about the "2" is that it comes with a removable wi-fi attachment that turns the UDMA2 into a hotspot that can be seen by my iPad and Android phone. While it's NOT possible to transfer photos to the iPad via the wi-fi (the only way is through iTunes), it IS possible to preview your shots. One big surprise to me was the fact that I found I could stream TWO DIFFERENT MOVIES to two different iPads simultaneously, and the unit will keep up flawlessly -- this will come in handy for long plane flights (although I clocked the UDMA2's battery life at about 1 hour 15 minutes while doing that; also movies are not viewable in the built-in screen). I've since purchased 2 additional batteries. It's too bad the AC adaptor doesn't have fold-in prongs to make it more travel friendly, and that the only way to change the battery is by unscrewing the back (using the included screwdriver). But so far I'm loving this piece of gear -- especially knowing that the internal hard drive can be easily removed and replaced with a larger one (or solid state one) down the road.

Does not let me review movies without being connected to my IPad, this is really annoying as the instruction book has videos as example in File manage. Is not as easy to follow the instructions and use of file manager.Has various items like trashes and another that is not recognizableAll in all it is not as user friendly as my previous Epson P2000 that I was going to replace as the 2000 series does not take the larger SD cards, this devise does that.I am just gettin used to using the Wi-Fi service to my IPad and think I will like that as I get used to it.

Comments about Sanho 160GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA2 Multimedia Player / Storage Device:

You just don't put a price on peace of mind. The HyperDrive makes on-site backups as you work fast and simple, with or without an assistant. You just start the backup and leave it in your bag while you get back to work. It puts itself to sleep when the upload is done. The interface could be improved upon, but with a few clicks around, you know what to do. I'd like a little bit more confidence in the battery life, but it's not a big deal as long as you remember to charge it every time you go to a gig. File recovery is a nice feature to just know that it's there. I tried it with a card that I formatted on purpose, seemed to work fine. Just get one and make your life that much easier.

This device is fine for battery powered backup, but that's it. Considering the price, it has an outdated menu (touchscreen possible?), the screen display of images is really not very good, and wifi works just OK.

The product is relatively easy to use. Great way to store & backup your photos or videos while on a trip or a shoot.

The user interface is sufficient but folks with a Smart Phone may try to access the choices via the screen instead of via the button.

This is a great product but could use some improvements with the buttons. Either that or a touch screen. Otherwise, this hyerpdrive does a really good job at what it is set out to do. I shoot weddings and use this in the field as a back up of my memory cards.

I purchased this item to backup images when traveling, particularly abroad, without the need to necessarily take a computer. I give it really 4.5 stars. I like that the wireless device can connect to ipad to view images even in RAW format. I am still playing, but am told it will completely backup a card everytime you insert it, so if you have downloaded some images it will not recognize them when it downloads again. I was also able to purchase a larger hard drive for the device and install/format with no problems.
