I had to deduct a star simply because the first unit I received was faulty. B&H quickly rectified the issue and it works just as advertised. While it is possible to mount a smaller camera directly onto the skate, I paired mine with a Manfrotto 494RC2 ball head for a little more flexibility. The skate is very smooth on the right surface and the adjustable wheels make for a variety of shots. The index marks on the skate are not all that useful as there is no actual nomenclature other than marks that don't really align with the axel. The axel itself also has no index mark to assist with alignment. Still like the overall functionality but there is quite a bit a trial and error in the beginning. The 1/4 20 mounting screw on the skate is designed to fit right into the camera. However, as most tripod heads require a 3/8 16 thread, you might want to consider an insert for mounting a head as I did.

Bought this as a cheap alternative to a glidetrack. It works very well on smooth surfaces. I use a manfrotto head with a 1/4 20 thread to attach the head. For indoors work it's very handy. However outside there are few surfaces smooth enough to garner useable results. You'd need to hawk around a plank or something to get effective dolly work outdoors. Doesn't work on tarmac or concrete as even the slightest undulation jars the camera. With all that said, the wheels are extremely smooth on a table like surface, and that's essentially what it is. The only reason for giving it 3 stars is that the wheel alingment is messy. The scale marks don't really help at all, and locking the wheels straight takes some adjusting. You'll find it goes straight for a while but is inclined to go offset after a bit. Anyway, for the price it's worth it. I've used an EX3 and a 5D mark iii on it, which for it's small size proves a lot.

    Does the job.

Comments about Revo Quad Skate Tabletop Dolly with Scale Marks:

The only complaint I have about this is that the scale marks are completely useless. You wont be able to align the wheels to absolute precision, so good luck trying to get it to travel in a straight line for more than 3 feet.
On the other hand it's great for the price. It's something to get me started while I'm saving up to buy something better.

Comments about Revo Quad Skate Tabletop Dolly with Scale Marks:

I purchased this to use with my Canon T4i and Canon 24-70 2.8 L USM. I bent a 1.5" metal strap drilled tapped to ¼-20 to move the camera for good balance (see photo). I have been very satisfied with this dolly. The graduations for rotation are not very helpful as other reviews have said. But for the money this has not been a major issue. I gave this a 4 because I have only used it about 10 times with the track and on a counter top remnant for a curved shot. I am having fun with this.

This is a very well designed piece of hardware and very strong in term of its physical aspect. I realized that with additional hardware you can create a slider since this hardware works fine with a level surfaces. I hooked up my mobile phone and done deal. Unfortunately you need to buy an extra piece such as the Pearstone 4.2 (articulated arm) to manage different positions, but in overall, and for the price, no regrets.

I purchase the Quad Tabletop Dolly for the different shot...we used a slider to video tape the the customs in Trip to Bountiful ------------------- (video section - Pat, Heather and myself), its was amazing; it was these shots that inspired me to want to do more...I must point-out that the lines on the main platform are miss leading and I put my own lines using a black magic marker and a level for accuracy. I highly recommend this product because it does do the job!!

It's got a very smooth roll, but I've got to figure out a way to get a 1/4 thread that doesn't spin so I can attach my Veblon fluid head.. It looks like I've got to get a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter and also a 3/8 to 1/4 tripod thread reducer or just some sort of 1/4 with a bolt... When I put the fluid head on as is, when panning, it just spins the whole thread... Maybe I'll just gorilla glue it... I don't know why they couldn't have just put a solid thread on it?

I bought this hoping to replace my Kessler Cineslider. While the Quad Skate has applications, it is no replacement for a slider. It is compact. I can keep it in a backpack, but if I am going to use it like a slider I am going to need to build some devices for smooth movement on any surface that has a few bumps. The placement of the markings is useless, they don't correspond to anything. It is what you would expect for $. It works, but not like my $ slider.

Haven't had a chance to shoot video with it yet but it feels like a sturdy and versatile tabletop dolly, particularly for the price.

Inexpensive and well build option to get more variety of shots while filming on a budget or with limited equipment.I used it on one of my photojournalistic assignment where I had very limited space for equipment. It worked perfectly.Of course it has it limitation, but for the price and size it can give you pretty wide and interesting options.
