The TRENDnet TV-IP672W Megapixel Wireless N PTZ Internet Indoor Camera lets you keep an eye on your surveillance area remotely over the Internet. With a 1/4” CMOS sensor, the camera records real-time videos in H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG formats in high resolution.

With a minimum illumination of 1 lux at f/1.5, the camera is also suitable for low-light surveillance. Using an Internet-enabled computer, you can pan the camera 340° (side-to-side) for wider coverage of the surveillance area. The camera can also be tilted 115° up/down to adjust the viewing position as you desire.

On detecting any motion in the vicinity, the camera captures just-in-time snapshots, sends alarm triggers via e-mail, and also uploads the video or images to an FTP server. The recorded footage can be stored on a microSD card, which can later be viewed on your smartphone or on the Samba network drive.

The camera connects to your Wi-Fi network via high speed 802.11b/g/n wireless protocols. Depending on your needs, you can mount the camera on a wall or ceiling using the included hardware. The camera needs to be plugged into an electrical power outlet (12 VDC power adapter included).

Lots of Features - Works OK for My Needs

Comments about Trendnet TV-IP672W Megapixel Wireless N PTZ Internet Indoor Camera:

I bought this camera to set on a window sill inside my house, pointing outside.

The idea was to quickly and easily set up a temporary camera to monitor activities outside my house as I was having some problems with the neighbors. I wanted something that would only record when motion was detected to save me the time of having to scan every second of video footage, every day. I also wanted something that would record locally to a removable disk as well as be accessible from a home pc or mobile while on the home's wifi connection. I did not need or want something that could be accessed via the internet when not at home (which this product is capable of).

This product met my needs for the most part (thanks B&H for spending the time on the phone with me to pick out the right product. you guys did an excellent job and were very patient).

My main complaint is that the motion sensing technology doesn't work quite the way I was hoping. Granted, I am trying to get the camera to trigger on a small dog at the edge of my property about 50 feet away. Which, it is capable of for the most part. It's just not 100 percent. If I were monitoring something inside my house with this motion sensing technology, it would work just fine. Be aware that it is necessary for the user to define what portions of the video input should be scanned for motion and that it is not possible to scan 100% of the picture/video. Once I learned that, I had much better luck with the camera triggering video capture to the onboard micro sd card.

I, also, had a tough time focusing the camera. This is accomplished manually by turning the camera lens while looking a the video feed on a pc or mobile device.

A minor niggle is getting the micro sd card in and out of the camera. The slot is located right underneath the wifi antenna and is a bit hard to get to with my fat fingers.

One last issue is the fact that any time the power is interrupted, the camera's clock is reset. For me, having an accurate time/date stamp is crucial for my needs.

On the positive side, once the camera is set up, it just works. The wifi connection has been rock steady. No drop outs for any reason that I have been able to notice. And that is with my camera at one end of the house and my wifi router at the other end. That sure helps keep the frustration level down.

If you're after a feature rich PTZ camera for monitoring indoors which can be used standalone or accessible remotely from the internet, this camera is a good choice. If you're trying to monitor the outdoors from inside the house, expect to make some compromises. There is no beating a purpose built camera (meaning that if you wish to monitor the outdoors, buy an outdoor camera for the best results).

Would I make the same decision again for what I'm trying to achieve, quite possibly yes.

Comments about Trendnet TV-IP672W Megapixel Wireless N PTZ Internet Indoor Camera:

Use this in my home - had it for several months now. Included Software VERY versatile for scheduled recording and retention etc. Lots of feature, no problems at all, and excellent support from Trendnet (especially Johnny at level 2 if you need it). Fast response, also works great with "aftermarket" IP Cam Viewer software for my android. Excellent product, no complaints. I have other Trendnet cameras also - very happy with them.
