I owned one before for my Canon 5D Mark II and it works as advertised. But what to do if you want to use a screen protector with it? You'll love the way I did.I need to be able to use BOTH, the LCDVF and the Snap-On LCD Screen Protector (B&H item# VESPGSC5D3). I called B&H but nobody knew the answer to that. So I had the "audacity" to try this... Well, I tested the "theory" myself using my Small HD DP-4 giant viewfinder to simulate the idea since I didn't have yet the actual LCDVF in hands...Turns out that the focus was perfect so I went ahead and ordered.Result: WORKED!! The LCDVF OR ANY OTHER VIEWFINDER OF THIS NATURE has a FOCUSING tolerance of 1/2 inch DISTANCE so it won't matter if you use the LCDVF as the manual says or with things in between the LCDVF anf the camera's LCD. How to SETUP: 1-Install the Vello B&H # VESPGSC5D3 on the camera's LCD, read the instructions..2- Place the LCDVF's metal magnetic frame on the already installed Snap-On LCD Screen Protector insted of placing it directly on the camera's LCD.3- To remove the LDCVF from the camera, gently pull it out + downwards, not straight at you so you won't lift the Snap-On LCD Screen Protector because if the magnets. Note that the Snap-On LCD Screen Protector is installed at the camera;s viewfinder therefore the bottom will lift. It's just common sense...To remove everything from the camera. Remove the Snap-On LCD Screen Protector and everything is gone! All you see is the camera's bare LCD screen!I'm so glad that I don't have to place that nasty sticker from the LCDVF's metal frame directly onto my Mark III's LCD as it will be a nightmare to remove when I had to take it off to sell my 5D Mark II.So there you have it! Place the LCDVF when shooting video and remove when you are shooting stills THUS having a full LCD UV GLASS protection!!

This viewfinder is great for the price, but it's not wonderful. If you want an LCD and don't want to shell out a couple [$]- this is your best bet. I love it and will say it's become an absolute must for me when filming on my MKIII. It allows you to obtain a much more balanced image while filming - worries about fine tune focusing and exposure are all set aside when you have this to look through. The biggest downside to this product are the weak magnets. The viewfinder is easily bumped off. Mine falls ALL the time. It's durable, doesn't break when it falls... it's just not very adhesive.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF3C 3.2" LCD Viewfinder for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I bought this for a wedding I shot that was completely outdoors, in August. The sun was bright rendering the LCD screen unviewable. This product helped me see everything clearly and maintain my focus. Make sure to use the included cloth eye guard though, without I found the viewfinder fogging up. Maybe me eyes are just too sweaty.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF3C 3.2" LCD Viewfinder for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I use the LCDVF mainly for photography, especially outdoors to be able to judge the pictures on the LCD of the Camera. Blocking out the surrounding light allows you to actually see the pictures as you would see them on your computers screen.

The magnets in combination with the metal frame mounted on the camera, ensured that the VF is secured in place while attached to the camera, so you don't even haf to hold it anymore. Yet it is fairly easy to remove to start shooting again.

The pricetag alone makes you aware that you are buying a high quality product and i can only agree to that. The lens used as well as the surrounding materials are all high quality and you actually can feel that quality by using the product.

It pushed my outdoor photography and is definitely worth every cent. No more outdoor photography with that little piece of gear!

This thing isn't high tech or advanced but it does the job. It is exactly what I expected in a lower priced finder. Screen looks good in it, adhesion frame is sturdy. Magnet is solid. Took it on the road for 11 days in Haiti, dropped it a couple times. Everything is still in tact and looking good. Recommended.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF3C 3.2" LCD Viewfinder for Canon DSLR Cameras:

This LCDVF makes focusing with the lcd screen much easier, especially in sunlight. The magnetic hold is solid, and feels like it while shooting; I like the third point of contact my eye provides for steady shots. I used a heavy book to help with adhesion of the metal plate. The price on B&H is great as well. I definitely recommend this to other videographers considering such a purchase.

This is perfect for the Canon 5D Mark iii. I had bought one that fit the Mark ii before and didn't realize that the LCD screens were not the same size so I had to return it. If you have a mark iii, DO NOT get an LCD viewfinder for another camera, this is the one you should get!

I use my camera for video and it helps tremendously for stabilizing the camera while I shoot and it also helps with focusing and framing in various light situations. The quality is solid as well. So far, this is just what I need.

I bought this viewfinder to help me learn about video. Its nearly impossible to see the on-camera viewfinder to focus for video and live view on the Canon 5D Mark III. I have a Microsoft Surface that I use for tethering to Lightroom, but it's too big for run and gun video. this viewfinder works pretty good so far. The quality is very nice and the magnet snaps into place with authority. I'm using it with the Vello Snap on LCD protector. I just mounted the metal plate on the screen protector and then the viewfinder snaps to it. Got the idea right here from a review on B&H. So far it works great. I will definitely recommend the combo.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF3C 3.2" LCD Viewfinder for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I shoot mostly video on my Canon 5D Mark III. I had researched a bunch of view finders before buying this. I was pretty sold on the Zacutto, but decided to rent it before buying and I'm glad I did. It felt to heavy and clunky, plus it wasn't easily removable. I also looked at the Varavon viewfinder. I liked the idea of that one because it is easily removable and has a flip-up back so you can easily use it for low angle shooting or as a sun shield. I didn't rent it but decided on the LCDVF3C because it came highly recommended from a fellow DSLR video shooter. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and like it so far. I like how easily it attached to the back of the camera with the magnetic connection, easily attached or separated. It seems to be spot on for magnification and clarity. It does not focus but doesn't seem to need that. One downside that hasn't been a problem yet, but could be, is the chance of dropping the camera. I say that because with the LCDVF3C lanyard wrapped around my neck and the viewfinder attached to the camera it kind of feels like the camera strap and I've caught myself a few time about to let go of the camera thinking it will dangle from my neck. That would be a big mistake as the magnetic connection would definitely not hold that weight and the camera would fall to the ground. I really hope that never happens, but I've almost done exactly that a handful of times.

And I love the soft cover that goes over the eyepiece. overall I am very pleased with this viewfinder.

It works grea to magnify the image for focusing and shielding the screen from the sun. For the price I can't say anything really negative about it, works perfect for my purposes.

I seen this device used by a few professionsal over the years. Some used it specifically for shading sun light and others use it for focusing. When doing portrait work this tool is great. I use live view and manual focus. Then magnify to 10x and the focus is spot on.
The sharpness of the photo is fantastic.
The viewfinder comes with 2 mounting flanges. The flanges are thin and sleek. I have one on each of my bodies.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF3C 3.2" LCD Viewfinder for Canon DSLR Cameras:

Use viewfinder on Canon 5D Mark111 and 7D. Very bright for both and fits secure on the Mark111, however, the mount for 7D is loose and will fall off if knocked about. Graffers tape fixes this problem.
Being used mostly on the mark111 no complaints. For the amount of time the finder is actually attached to the camera you get quaility and a product that isn't overpriced. I did attach the magnet frame to a viewfinder protector without a problem.

Its good at shading the sun. I think the 220% magnification is overkill, I dont need to see the black space between pixels. It looks cool. nice eye foam piece. Not sure its worth the $ . I dont really use it unless a monitor is not an option. I shoot video and use a marshall 7" monitor, or a 24" monitor.

Comments about Kinotehnik LCDVF3C 3.2" LCD Viewfinder for Canon DSLR Cameras:

This is almost a must have for shooting video on a DSLR outside during the day time. When it's brighter around you than the screen can be it's next to impossible to tell if you're in focus, let along if you have any over exposed blow outs. This loupe is a good combo of price and value, and although he metallic frame is just a little too wide to fit perfectly onto a Vello screen protector, it does work pretty well with one. I use this on my 5Dmk3 and it's improved the overall video experience for me, the only thing I find frustrating is that the magnets aren't quite strong enough, although any stronger and they might wipe the information off the SD/CF cards, maybe? Not sure about that stuff, I just know that it is kind of frustrating when the loupe falls off, just make sure to wear the neck lanyard and you shouldn't damage it by dropping it onto the ground.
