The Revo 33" Camera Track Slider is a lightweight, midsize camera slider that you can conveniently carry from location to location and maximize as many of your scenes as possible with fluid motion. You can set the slider on its feet or mount it on a tripod and glide your camera left, right, forward or backward. A rig of up to 15.4 pounds can be attached and moved smoothly the entire 33 inches of the track.

Three 1/4" and three 3/8" threaded screw-holes are positioned along the bottom for mounting up to two tripods. Aside from these, several non-threaded holes run along the bottom, and if you can find a way to screw the slider to a wall by means of these holes, then you can execute wall-mounted vertical and horizontal glides and add even more versatility of movement to your scenes. You can also position the slider tilted on a tripod (or two) and have your glides slanted.

The slider is made of aluminum alloy, and the sliding camera carriage has plastic cups underneath by which it slides smoothly on the slider rails. The carriage has removable 1/4" and 3/8" screws for attaching a camera or fluid head, and it is itself removable so that you can comfortably attach the camera or head off of the slider. The carriage also has one 1/4" thread on each top corner so that in addition to a camera you can mount articulating arms with lights, mics and other accessories. A knob on the side of the carriage tightens to keep the carriage from moving and a bubble level on the top helps measure how even the slider is positioned. The slider's feet are removable too and attach on by included hex screws. The feet feature rubber tips on their bottoms to provide a secure grip and prevent the slider from moving about.

Construction:Out of the box, it looked simple yet pretty sturdy. I was surprised with the sturdiness of the slider. Everything is basically built and all you have to do was screw the stands in. The mount has two screws: one for your tripod head and one to mount the camera directly. I would recommend that you use a tripod head but it works just fine without it except the fact that you can't pan or tilt as freely as you would like to. I tested the slider without the tripod head because I wasn't able to find my screwdriver and I couldn't get my tripod head out. It turned out pretty decent though! If you would like to mount your camera, you would need to take the base out and screw out the 3/8 mount for tripod then mount your camera, then slide the base back in. The rubber tips definitely help keep your slider steady on hard grounds. One thing that I really like about this slider is that it has threads all over the slider so you can mount tripods, stands, or against the wall. I was able to mount the slider on my tripod in the middle. Once I mounted my camera and went up and down the slider, I was impressed with how smooth it was. The only bad thing I noticed was that it makes a whoosh sound as it slides. It's not that big of a problem for me since I use external recorders but those people that use on board mics will have issues because it is definitely loud enough to pick it up. It also has a little knob on the side of the base that you could tighten to hold the base so it doesn't move around. This is especially helpful so it doesn't hit the sides when you're traveling.Slider in Action:The test shots were all done manually. It is definitely harder to get a smooth shot without a tripod head but I was able to get some sweet shots. One tip for using this if you don't have a tripod is use your camera strap and pull that. Once you have some weight in it, it moves even smoother. Another tip for using this slider is that you could slant it and use gravity to make it come down slowly. I tested the shots on gravel ground and also on my tripod. As I got from one end to the other end, my tripod was not able to hold the camera and it started to pan down. But this was because I mounted the slider directly on the tripod as I said I wasn't able to get it out. I'm sure that once you put it on the tripod itself, it won't pan down like it did with mine. If you do have a heavy rig set up, I advise that you mount in on two tripods. It does bend towards the end and mounting on two tripods would solve that. Another problem I encountered with this slider was that the bubble for balance was covered if you put your tripod head or camera. It makes no sense to put it there if it's covered. If you have a 60D, then you could use your electronic level and most dslr do have that feature. Conclusion:Pros:-Super affordable -Smooth-Solid Construction-A lot of threads for tripod/stand mounts- Rubber tip and stands-Able to mount tripod head and camera directly-Knob to hold the slider baseCons:-May take some experience to get smooth shots- Bubble balance covered when mounted-Needs Allen wrench to screw the stands-Noisy when slidingThis is a great starter slider for independent film makers or broke college media majors like me. I can't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and this definitely gets the job done. There are some minor problems but it's not something major and you could work around it. Grab yourself one! Here are some of my test shots i took the day i got it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5F7er98j_k

This is a friction based slider and it does what you pay for. I tried it out over the weekend and I was able to get some smooth pans using my DSLR. But it is not super smooth and takes a few takes to get it right. I think more weight on it would apply more friction thus giving smoother moves. But for the price and the fact it is 33" for long slides, it's worth a go if you have a $xxx to spare or trying to save a few but still need a decent slider. It is aluminum so it can get dinged easy if you knock it around. I think if the track gets marked up it would definitely effect the slides obviously. The only issue I've had to figure out was securing my camera to the base. It comes with an allen wrench for that but will not tighten all the way, so I had to play with that to get it to tighten securely without coming loose easily.Overall I'm enjoying it and for what I paid I'm getting what I expected.

Comments about Revo 33" Camera Track Slider:

I bought this for my HVX200 and this supports/slides very well. The only problem I had was with the screw that mounted the tripod head to the slider- it rubs against the existing screw on my tripod where the track mounts. Easy fix, you can buy a shorter screw or shave down the screw they give you with a grinder

I know this isn't an expensive slider, but it could be so much better if the slider was tighter on the track. Besides that it works great. I'll keep practicing before I decide whether to keep it or not.

For the price I just needed a simple slider that slides. This thing almost did its job. It's not as smooth as I wish it could be. I prefer roller bearing sliders better but again for the price I can't complain. Keep ur slider clean and on a sterdy tripod.

At first I was a little iffy about ordering the Revo 33" slider. I needed a slider for a low cost and figured i'd give this one a shot. I can't say I'm disappointed with it at all. Awesome slider for what it is, extremely happy with it. Only thing I will point out is that it is friction based, so it isn't as smooth as others may be. But otherwise, it gets the job done!

I was a little skeptical about buying this cheap of a slider. But I must say it is a good slider for the price. The sliding motion is not the best compared to the higher end sliders but it definitely functions the way it should. Another thing is it can get shaky depending on how your hand moves. You need to make sure your hand is pretty still going back and forth. I would recommend buying this slider if you do not have the money for the higher end ones.

If you are looking for an PRO set up this is not for you. Mount is not solid to the rails it will rock. Don't plan on using the audio from stock video from this the track movement is loud. I have tried dry wax lube to high end bike lubes just not smooth unless you make a handle and have a steady hand. The pro its cheep and light. You can make it work

If you want to spend more money on a slider unit you can do that but why. The smoothness of this slider is precision and will do all the same things that a more expensive slider can do.

I am just starting to play with video and I am not sure how much I will be doing. This slider is a great deal and a good product to learn on to make sure video is something I will do long term or just off and on. For someone who really wants to do video and can afford it, I would spend the extra money for a higher quality. But if you are on a budget and just getting started, I think this is a good starter slider.

Here are some of my test shots i took the day i got it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5F7er98j_k

decent smoothness on this unit, but the size is kinda weird. its too big to mount on one tripod and it seems like its not long enough when you mount it on two tripods ( not worth the time....for the couple minutes it takes to set up)

Overall, you get what you pay for as with everything in life. I like the length of the track, not too long and not too short. To really get it to slide without much noise, you got to use vaseline or a long lasting grease. Once I slabbed some vaseline on the rails it was good to go.

Overall great product that delivers smooth and steady slides. The one thing I don't like is that it's difficult for traveling because it's not retractable.
