The Zacuto Blackmagic Top Handle for Blackmagic Cinema Camera, additional to outfitting the Blackmagic camera with a Handle for low shots and carry, also very usefully lets you slide the Handle sideways along five inches and to tighten it in the position where you find balance to be best. Five inches is how wide the Z-Rail is, and the Z-Rail is what the whole assembly attaches to the camera by -- the Handle attaches to the Z-Rail, and the Z-Rail attaches to the camera by means of two 1/4"-20 screws, which come included.

The Handle attaches to (and removes from) the Z-Rail by quick-release lever and can be attached facing front or back. Along its height are screw-holes for adding various accessories. And running through it is a 15mm rod threaded for more accessories. It's threaded on both of its ends to accept rod extensions or various compatible additions, such as Zacuto's T-Mount or Tri-Mount.

Comments about Zacuto Blackmagic Top Handle for Blackmagic Cinema Camera:

Zacuto's build quailty is the best out there. Ive had redrock, cinevate, and many other, but nothing compares to zacuto. Ive have zero complaints with this handle or any of the other zacuto products I own.

Only had a minnor issue with this purchase. They packaged the wrong size mounting screw in my package, but zacuto's customer service was fantastic. I didnt need to prove anything and they overnighted me the correct screws at their expense.

People often complain zacuto's products are too expensive, you get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once.

Comments about Zacuto Blackmagic Top Handle for Blackmagic Cinema Camera:

            The Good:
The shape and build of the handle itself is remarkable. It feels extremely nice in the hand. The ergonomics is really hard to beat.
This is built like a tank. Heavy duty, very thick aluminum handle post. Very strong.

            The Bad:
I almost feel like zacuto might have rushed the design on this to get it out the door. Although it is functional, there is a major problem with the clamp. It tightens and holds very well, but when it comes to untightening, that's where it doesn't work great. With the handle mounted to the z-rail, when you untighten it, the clamp is still locked on the rail. You have to physically exert quite a bit of pressure on the handle to break the lock. It doesn't just loosen up like my other clamp from an un-named manufacturer does.
And if you happen to lock the clamp down when it's not locked to the bar, you're in a world of trouble. I had to douse the unit with WD40 and pry at it with a screw driver (thus scratching the finish) to get it to open back up to accept the z-rail.
And lest you think that I was unlucky enough to get a bad unit, I bought two of these, and they both suffer from this problem.
