An aluminum body with faux leather wrap give this camera its classic good looks, and its 12MP CMOS sensor, Fujinon f/1.8 4x zoom lens, and 3.0" Premium Clear LCD highlight its contemporary performance and functionality.

RAW imaging capability, manual shooting modes P/A/S/M, High Speed Contrast Autofocus and up to 10 frames per second of continuous shooting give you the advanced creative control to do anything that a high-end digital point-and-shoot can do. And its pop-up flash, optical image stabilization, advanced photographic filters and customizable E-Fn button make it a user friendly camera with which anyone can create high quality photos and videos.

The XF1 houses a 12MP 2/3" EXR CMOS sensor which captures high resolution photos and videos and provides fast autofocus. A 25-100mm equivalent lens offers a focal range that zooms from true wide angle to mid-range telephoto. It's the ideal lens for day-to-day shooting and will let you shoot everything from landscapes to kids gathered 'round a birthday cake, to portraits to close-ups of distant subjects. Its maximum aperture of f/1.8 means that you can set your shutter speeds higher for blur-free low light photography. Optical Image Stabilization adds to the camera's ability to shoot sharp images in low light or at long focal lengths and an ISO range of 100 to 12800 offers a myriad of options when it comes to high sensitivity photography. The unique retractable lens controls the camera's power and zoom, offers manual focusing and improves the portability of this camera which can hide in your pocket and will look great snapping away at even the swankiest of soirees.

The customizable E-Fn button and new Graphical User Interface allow experts and beginners to adjust the settings that are most important to them for quick and easy access to full photographic control. The compact, but ergonomic design also makes adjustments easy. The zoom lever and control dial, for example, are ideally located on the back of the camera where your thumb rests. The 3.0" Premium Clear LCD with 460,000 dot resolution offers crisp composition and accurate playback for both photo and video. And movie recording is in Full HD 1080i video at 30 frames per second with stereo sound, ideal for playback on the LCD or on your HDTV.

The unique retractable zoom lens on the XF1 turns to switch the camera on and off and, when off, flattens the entire camera body so it fits comfortably in pockets. The lens is also capable of manual focus with a simple turns of the lens.

I am using this as a replacement for my Sony NEX-5n. Okay, you're probably thinking why in the world I would replace it with a little point and shoot? Well, I kid you not! This little point and shoot just does that with a BANG!!! Fuji's color and sharpness of the lens and the power of its sensor makes it a more than capable kind of a camera. As a shooter of full full frame dslr/dslt (5D MKIII and A99), the image quality is pretty sufficient. Focus is snappy and on contact each time! The size and and weight is just right. The controls are simple and easy to navigate. The EXR mode does an incredible job. How do I know it's a great camera? It's when I catch myself not editing the images in post like in Lightroom or Photoshop just to make it look good. High ISO is impressive...definitely hit the right spot in my brain to hit "Add to cart"...lol! I was going to get the Sony RX100 but the high ISO performance of the Sony is not as good compared to this Fuji XF1. I'm afraid this point and shoot will keep your heavy, neck breaking, back pain maker DSLR in your bag. It may get jealous but there's time for them to shine as well.

Store policy is one month for return. I started using this camera a little too late to return it. After about 200 photos and 2 months of light using lens shutter stop working properly and acts with strange noises. Fujifilm site doesn't have even form you could fill out and send your non working camera on guarantee. You need to wait to contact somebody for direction where to return defected camera. Turn on camera in lens is real pain. Photos so so. Not recommended made in China with cheap material that not going to last.Another greedy Corporation that pays more for advertisement than labor.I am so stuck with this camera and no customer oriented company that I will never buy any fujifilm products in my life an will not recommend this to my fellow Americans.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Tan):

I returned to enter an 11-months retrospective on this camera, and add another star. It's still in perfect working order, and as I've gotten used to the exposure controls and camera's capabilities, I can say I have gotten some fantastic shots out of it in difficult, low-light conditions. Great optics, exposure capability, and image processing for the price. No discernible wear after many hours of use. I'm very surprised to see this camera discontinued here.

As stated before, this is not a camera for shooting where you need zoom capability. But what it does, it does very well. More than enough control over exposure and all other settings, in a very workable menu. Battery life is excellent.

My one complaint: it's too easy to hit the video record button with my thumb by accident when shooting still. I haven't yet figured out if the vid button can be disabled with the menu commands.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Black):

I'm a pro blogger and was given a copy of the camera to review on my blog... The main feature I enjoyed was the collapsing manual zoom lens. Not only do you use it to turn on and off, but you can manually set the focal length by turning the lens barrel. You can see exactly what focal length you're at (25,35,50,60,80,100) either on the lens, or on the screen. This is a very nice feature. And because it's manual zoom, not step, you can set to every in-between focal length as well.I also like the E-Fn secondary function. Trust me. It makes it so fast to access the extra settings that you prefer to shoot with. IT also gives you a single customizable button (best to leave as iso) like most, but having a secondary feature for the 4 way dial and the other buttons is really, really nice.I found that this camera has lots of great features, but it's buried inside a very confusing menu system. 11 filters buried in the advanced folder. Hopefully they'll organize it better on the next camera. The 25-100 lens is pretty good, but the X-10/20's lens is more solidly built and sharper. But considering this lens collapses almost flush and has a built in lens cover, it's worth the compromise.I had the camera for over a month so I really did get to test the camera and all its features. I'm not a video guy, but it has HD video. That's about the only feature I didn't test. Colour isolation mode is ok, but no adjusting sensitivity like Canon, nor the ability to custom input a colour or colour swap.Overall, I would recommend this camera for anyone looking for the biggest possible sensor in a truly compact body with a zoom lens. I would even recommend over the Sony RX100. Sure it has a bigger sensor, but at this size, you're not trying to get the best image quality. You're balancing image quality, shooting ease and ergonomics, compactness, and features. It's definitely small enough to fit inside the front pocket of your jeans. Take it while going for a walk or a jog, or even snow boarding. Just remember you gotta use two hands since you can't turn it on or zoom without turning the lens barrel!! Happy shooting!!

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Tan):

I use this camera for capturing ideas, things I observe in everyday life. Because I carry my camera in my pocket the life of it is about 1 1/2 year. One of the problems with other camera's was that they opened by accident.
That's one of the reasons I bought this one. The drawback is that you have to open the lens for any functions, to download pictures or settings.
The quality of the pictures is very good, about the same as my previous ones in the same price bracket. (Canon, Panasonic). It is somewhat better in low light though.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Black):

Forget the naysayers -- this little pockteable gem is just about perfect! Right size, right weight, excellent JPEG's, manual features, classic style and price point. Forget the critics of the power on/off process -- it's intuitive and simple to use. I love the manual focus in a camera of this size -- much more control than an auto zoom lens. The panorama feature is outstanding and worth the price of the camera! A definite winner for Fuji's X Series.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Black):

I used to be a more serious photographer but now I really only require a point and shoot. I had been missing the feeling manual control afforded by my old film SLR, which is why I think I like the XF1 so much.
It is very pocketable, which has been inspiring me to shoot more. And, even though the EXR setting is good for most occasions, when I want to seriously compose a shot the menus are easy to navigate. I love the lens manual zoom. Low light performance is decent. Start up time is great, once you get the hang of the lens on-off function.
Not many cons yet, the dedicated record button is a little close to the thumb rest and I have accidentally pressed once or twice. The flash isn't very powerful but it gets the job done most of the time.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Tan):

I bought this camera as a supplement to my Pentax K-5 and to take a look at Fuji before perhaps going for an XE-1/XPro1. The unusual on/off control through the lens twist and pull was a lot easier than some reviewers have said - and took me back to my Rollei 35S days - a camera that shares the classic looks of the XF1. The out of camera JPG quality is excellent - good colours - the RAW is a little more challenging either with CP1 or LR4. Had a quick play with SilkyPix but not as intuitive as LR4, and the in camera RAW processing is a little fiddly - so I'll probably stick with JPG. High ISO also good so far. Haven't tried some of the multi exposure options to further reduce noise in night shots. A nice set of features giving good intuitive manual control and some interesting art filters to play with. The feel of the camera makes you want to take pictures!

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Tan):

I bought this camera to fit three specific and overlapping needs: 1) compact size for travel and hiking, 2) outdoor low-light shots, often with moving subjects, 3) close shots of small subjects in natural light (in particular, aquarium animals and small scale models). The cool look is cool, but for me that takes a back seat to the mechanical simplicity (which has some very practical benefits, like no inadvertent button-pressing and almost nothing to snag on your backpack or pocket). I'm finding the leatherette cover superb for grippage. The fast lens, short focal length at the wide end and easily accessed and very intuitive menus and indications for full manual control of shutter speed, aperture, film type effect, and etc., are so far serving very well for the niche situations I specified. I'm fast growing to love the tactile control and firm feel of the hand zoom ring; it's quicker and more precise than motor zooms, and find it keeps my hand in a good position for stable shooting. The camera's also fine for general shooting, but not at the head of the class. Caveat, but obvious with a glance at the specs: if you need or crave a lot of zoom power, this absolutely NOT your camera. Given the knowns going in, my one significant gripe is there seems to be a slight LCD viewer-to-shutter lag that I haven't gotten used to yet when shooting moving subjects; from experience I know this is something I can compensate for with a bit more shooting time, but it's one drawback of not having an optical viewfinder that I hadn't expected. I've only been shooting for a week with it, so can't comment on durability, but so far operation is flawless. Ask me in 9 years about durability, which is how long I shot with my last Fuji point and shoot.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Red):

I was looking for a camera that could take clear, focused shots inside under low-light conditions. I take a lot of pictures of food inside restaurants, but I wanted a camera that would be compact enough that I could be more inconspicuous and not bother other diners. This camera takes GREAT shots and makes impressive depth of focus blur for a Point and Shoot.
The only part I don't like is how you turn it on. It is a bit clumsy and takes 2 hands most of the time. It's the trade off for having a camera that looks pretty neat though.

Got this camera for my wife for Christmas. She likes to take a lot if indoor pictures in lower-light. Best camera I we ever had for that. The EXR mode is great - sometimes it will choose on its own to take 3 pictures and average them into one for less noise! It is mostly used on the EXR setting. I have also used aperature priority to good effect. Manual focus is not so great- hard to tell when it is in sharp focus. A lovely camera. I bought it just before it came down in price though. Will be getting one for my 80-year old mother for her birthday.

Comments about XF1 Digital Camera (Tan):

I bought this camera for a trip to Costa Rica as I had left my Nikon DSLR at home. I love the style of the camera but more importantly it works perfectly on auto but also provides me with most of the settings I use on my DSLR. I got perfect sunset pictures on the preset sunset setting as well.
The only watch out is it does not turn on automatically, you have to turn the lens to unlock it. It was annoying at first but once you get used to it, not a big deal.
