The Manfrotto MT294C3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is one of the larger tripods in the 290 family. It provides solid support for a DSLR or other camera with carbon fiber leg tubes. It uses a next-generation carbon tubing, an innovative composite tube with optimized fiber angles that provide lightness and stability. The three-section construction with larger diameter carbon tubing than the 293 models maximizes camera stability and minimizes vibrations, and is ideal for zoom lenses that amplify any camera shake. With its universal 3/8"-16 stud, it's ready to attach to most photography heads.

The two-position leg angle settings make low-angle shooting possible, while a rapid center column adds flexibility and extends the height range. With a maximum height of 66.54" it can function all the way down to 15.63", and it folds down to 24" for transport and storage. The MT294C3 tripod supports loads up to 11 lb. The disk at the top of the center column is compatible with any Manfrotto head. A head is required for normal operation, and is not included.

Comments about Manfrotto MT294C3 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I started off with a budget tripod. While it did get the job done for a little while, it also made me that much more appreciative of the quality, weight, & functionality of this tripod. Highly recommend it!

Comments about Manfrotto MT294C3 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I am very impressed with the Manfrotto Carbon Fiber Tripod legs. They are light weight, yet solid and strong. I love the leg locks and the ease of use. I have used this in moderate winds and have not notice any movement so far. The only issue is that they do not fold down very small, but I knew that when I purchased them, and you would not expect that with three-part legs.

Comments about Manfrotto MT294C3 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

This is an update to my earlier review.

After making additional phone calls I was finally able to reach a representative in Manfrotto's service company in Chandler, Arizona. I sent the tripod to this center (at my expense). After several weeks, the tripod was repaired and returned. I was told they had to wait for the missing part to be sent from the factory.

After receiving the repaired tripod I am pleased with its performance. It probably deserves a four or five star rating had it not been for the problems I experienced. The company's quality control and customer service leave much to be desired.

If you purchase this tripod, you should make sure to test every function thoroughly upon receipt.

Comments about Manfrotto MT294C3 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I bought this tripod 3 months ago. When I received it, I tested the leg locks, but did not test the center column extension. I didn't have a chance to use it until recently. When I tried to extend the center column, I found that the column could not be locked in place. The screw attached to the wing nut is not long enough to make contact with the column. Also, the center column does not fit tightly in the base, so even when not extended it wobbles around on the base because it cannot be locked down.

I contacted Manfrotto's service department about this problem through their web site a week and a half ago. They acknowledged receipt of my request, but have not contacted me yet. I also placed a call to their service and parts department, but they have not returned my call either. Until I can get this problem resolved, the tripod is useless.

I have purchased Manfrotto products in the past with no problems. However, based on this experience and their unresponsiveness, I will not buy any Manfrotto products again.
