I had a mid 2011 iMac with 8GB RAM. I got this kit. The iMac was supposed to max out at 16GB, but I was able to go 2X2GB + 2X8GB = 20GB total with no problem. I suspect you could unofficially get two of these and do 4x8GB = 32GB in some iMacs that claim to only support 16GB.
Very pleased. 5-10 minute install.
