The 28mm f/2.8 Color Skopar SL II Lens for Canon from Voigtlander is an extremely compact 28mm prime lens. A true wide angle lens, its angle of view on full frame cameras is 74.8º and on APS-C sized cameras is 53º. With a maximum aperture of f/2.8, it is bright and fast enough to handle low light situations and it produces sharp images with minimal aberrations. Its manual focusing ring handles well and its operation is particularly smooth and accurate. This is a well-crafted lens integrated for automatic metering on Canon SLR and DSLR cameras and is also a good option when shooting video.

Comments about Voigtlander 28mm f/2.8 Color Skopar SL II Lens for Canon:
I bought Canon's 40mm pancake for use with my 5DII a while ago on a hiking trip - turns out I love it's size/weight so much that I've rarely removed it from my camera since then. I'm a believer in pancake lenses for general walk-around use. The 40 is great, but I wanted something wider and found this Voigtlander 28mm pancake. What I love (besides the obvious size/weight):- Build quality is really strong. It's all metal and feels like it could take a beating. Much better than the 40, better than some of my L glass, and nearly on par with Zeiss ZE lenses.- For me, the focus ring resistance and throw length is perfect. It's a lot more free and quick than Zeiss ZE lenses, and more solid and smooth than Canon's focus rings. - The images look great. There's really no sacrifice here regarding IQ. Colors and contrast are excellent, and it's super sharp everywhere except extreme corners when wide open. - It's size makes it easy to hand hold at relatively slow shutter speeds.- Didn't notice any CA problems.- The price is right.But:- I wish it were autofocus- I wish for f2.0.- I wish the corners didn't get ugly wide open, but it's really not that bad.
