The laptop is used as a replacement desktop, with an emphasis on web browsing and e-mailing. We chose to get a touchscreen laptop to leverage the capabilities of Windows 8. The machine is great. It is fast and responsive. The intel CORE i5 processor is fantastic. The touchscreen is just like a tablet and we also have the capability of using a full size keyboard for word processing. It is noticably lighter than the 15.6 inch laptop I previously owned and very comfortable to have on my lap for 4+ hours.

Windows 8 takes some getting use to, but it allows you to utilize the laptop both as a traditional machine and mimic a tablet experience as well.

The battery life has been slightly shorter than the 5 hrs some publications suggested. But we don't travel around with it much so it isn't that much of a concern. The cooling fan can be noticable if you are in a quiet room, but with the TV on it does not sound very loud. There have been a few instances where the monitior will flick on and off requiring a reboot and the wireless internet has had trouble connecting a couple times. But these instances seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

Overall I am very pleased with the purchase. The keyboard is pleasing to type on and the backlit feature it great. The touchscreen is easy to become accustomed to and play apps that feature touch.

Bought this on a recommendation from our computer savvy son when my laptop died. I mostly use it for email, social networking, web browsing,iTunes. I've only had it for a few weeks, but so far I love it! The touch screen and Windows 8 took some getting used to, but not really a problem.

The touch screen on this computer makes moving things around on the screen much quicker & easier than using the mouse (touch pad). The battery life is a little short for me but that's because I am used to an 8hr batter life on my Asus

The only down side is to do with Windows 8 & not the actual computer. In order to use a number of the applications Windows 8 forces you to have a microsoft account, i.e. To use the skype application you can sign in with any account but before it will log you in the application will help you create a micrsoft account & tell you to log in using the microsoft account from now on.

Purchased for my wife who is not very tech savvy.I have always been a Dell user and I debated whether or not to go with Acer.With the touch screen and Windows 8 it is a match made in heaven,she is thrilled with the performance, and has taken to it like a duck to water.I hit a home run buying this for her. No trouble navigating Windows 8 once you get used to it. Much better value than the Dells I had looked at that had fewer features.

bought this Acer for Christmas - great design, great features. Touchscreen stopped working after one day. Returned product and received new one thank's to B+H's excellent service. Set-up new Aspire V5 again and same flaw: touchscreen and touchpad don't work after charger was plugged in. No solution offered by ACER support line. Very disappointing. Sent back Acer and will change to a different manufacturer.

I purchased this for my wife, who has been bugging me for a laptop for a long time.home run from the start,she's thrilled with it.
Windows 8 and the touch screen make a wonderful pair.The touch screen is a real timesaver for many uses and I'm glad I went with Windows 8 over 7 and it has not been all that hard to adapt to it as some have reported.
I have always been a Dell person and questioned whether or not I should go with the Acer Aspire but have been very happy with the quality and features built into this machine for my wifes needs.
A much better value than the Dells, in my laymans opinion.

I use this for online gaming mostly. I play Guild Wars 2 and it performs great. Battery life is okay, maybe 3-4 hours when doing online gaming.

I use the computer everyday and night also, I sleep with my computer because I have many friends around the globe and do Skype with them, first of all I Skype with my Australian friends then sun comes to South Africa and Europe....later I chat with my American friends Its great...and the latest guys from Hawaii....I love my Acer, I can move all stuff on screen with my fingers, its easy to learn and works so efficient....I love all layouts and new Windows 8...gorgeous...
