The midnight black aluminum HP ENVY dv7-7250us 17.3" Notebook PC features a Windows 8 (64-bit) operating system and an Intel Core i7 quad-core 2.4GHz processor with Turbo Boost technology up to 3.4GHz. The notebook also features Intel HD Graphics 4000 and a 17.3" HD+ BrightView LED-backlit display. The 1TB hard drive offers protection from bumps thanks to HP ProtectSmart.
For Internet connectivity, the ENVY dv7 is equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet jack and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. It also supports Bluetooth wireless technology. For wired connectivity, the notebook features three SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI output, a VGA output, a microphone input and a headphone output. Other features include Beats Audio with four internal speakers and subwoofer, as well as an HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated dual array digital microphone.
The lithium-ion battery supports up to 3.5 hours between charges. Plus, a SuperMulti DVD Burner lets you watch movies, record music, record video and you can even load apps. The display also supports 3D games, HD video encoding and multi-tasking in breathtaking color and clarity. Other features include a fingerprint reader, HP CoolSense technology and HP SimplePass technology.

HP makes excellent laptops my last three or four have all been top of the line models ever since IBM priced their Thinkpad's in the Apple range for less computer and that's hard to do otherwise I've would be using 17" Mac Book Pros if the price was equal. Be nice you could by hardware then add the OS you want to to include Mac OS X. But that is not the case so after figuring out Win 8 and playing with it I've decided to return to Win 7 64 bit as all my programs not apps run on it with some work from the old MS VS 6 suite the I use to design programs This thing runs like a race horse on steroids the envy screen is in deed much better than the Pavilion ones I've seen and used. My requirements for this machine was a 17" screen, the fastest intel chip sub $1K , 1TB HD EXPANDABLE TO TWO, BLURAY /DVD writer

We bought this for a home based business and, so far, it has met or exceeded our expectations. For the price it offered more than other brands. The battery life is good. Windows 8 is more for a touch screen device but the large mouse pad makes up for most of that. It is a LARGE laptop so don't buy this if you are looking for something on the compact side.

This laptop is useful for multitasking: producing music, gaming, video, photos, etc. I Think it should have more native resolution, lifetime battery and led backlight keyboard. The one I bought was to my son (a computing student), he liked it a lot!

I've only had the HP ENVY dv7-7250us 17.3" Notebook for about 3 weeks, but so far we Love it! Windows 8 is a little less than user friendly (it seems like maybe it's meant more for the touch screen interface). But all and all the Tb memory is FANTASTIC, the display is beautiful, and the fingerprint password is really handy. The battery seems to have a long life and the % life left indicator helps you to know when to plug it in. 17.3" is quite large if you tote it around alot, but it mostly stays in our home so I prefer the large screen. It isn't too heavy either. The keyboard also had the numbers only pad on the right, which i didn't realize would be such a big deal... but I've found it VERY convenient. All in all, we are VERY happy with it!
