Sony's Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only) is a compact interchangeable lens camera that delivers high-resolution images using an APS-C size 16.1MP CMOS sensor. In addition to still photos, the NEX-6 records full HD 1920 x 1080 video in 60p, 60i, or cinematic 24p. Whether shooting stills or video, the high-resolution sensor works with the BIONZ processor to create sharp, detailed images.

The camera accepts Alpha NEX E-mount lenses, including normal-range, wide-angle, wide-to-telephoto and portrait-to-long telephoto zooms, mid-range, wide-angle and macro primes, and wide-angle and fisheye converters. Using optional Alpha NEX Camera Mount Adapters, you can also use Alpha A-mount lenses on the camera.

The camera is equipped with a large 3" (7.6 cm) 921K-pixel TFT LCD monitor. The screen's angle can be adjusted. The LCD also features peaking. The XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF is an electronic, eye-level through-the-lens viewfinder with a 2359K-pixel resolution and a high contrast ratio.

The NEX-6 has Fast Hybrid Autofocus, a feature commonly found only in DSLRs. It combines phase detection AF for quick response when tracking fast-moving subjects (vital when shooting at up to 10 fps), and contrast-detection for more precision. A further refinement in focusing is Peaking AF display, which makes manual focusing more precise by highlighting the edges that are in focus using a color of your choice (white, red, or yellow).

Wi-Fi capability is built into the NEX-6, and it's also compatible with Sony's PlayMemories camera apps. Using these two features, you'll be able to do things like tether your camera to your smartphone with the ability to see the image on your phone and use your phone to trigger your NEX-6. You can also do time-lapse photography, or transfer photos directly from your NEX-6 to your smartphone (allowing you to share them directly with friends) or immediately upload photos to social media sites like Facebook.

Quick Navi control puts Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual functions at your fingertips, along with many other creative options, giving the NEX-6 a DSLR feeling without the DSLR bulk. A Photo Creativity interface has settings like Background Defocus, Color, Vividness, as well as most Picture Effects that can be easily changed and seen in real time, using the control dial.

The NEX-6 features a six-image layering technology, which quickly takes six photos in low light and combines them into one photo for a sharper picture in Hand-held Twilight mode, and to control blur in Anti-Motion Blur mode. Auto HDR (High Dynamic Range) is also built-in. It automatically takes multiple images of high-contrast scenes and combines them for a picture with improved contrast control. The built-in flash is also useful as a fill light in low-light situations.

The Multi-Interface Shoe on the top of the camera not only allows you to use Sony flashes, it's compatible with Handycam accessories such as microphones for recording high-quality sound, opening up further possibilities for shooting video.

16.1 MP APS-C Size CMOS Image Sensor
The same sensor format that Sony builds into the full-sized α DSLRs. With 13 times the area of the typical point-and-shoot image sensor, APS-C makes the difference between "snapshots" and "photographs," delivering an exceptional combination of high resolution, high sensitivity and pleasingly blurred backgrounds.
E-Mount Lens Compatibility with A-Mount Lens Option
The camera accepts Alpha NEX E-mount lenses, including normal-range, wide-angle, wide-to-telephoto and portrait-to-long telephoto zooms; mid-range, wide-angle and macro primes; and wide-angle and fisheye converters. With optional Alpha NEX Camera Mount Adapters, you can also use Alpha A-mount lenses on the camera
Fast Hybrid AF
Sony's advanced Fast Hybrid AF combines two technologies for improved performance: Phase detection AF for quick response that is ideal when tracking fast-moving subjects and contrast-detection AF for added precision. An appropriate match that delivers optimal Auto Focus for fast, precise focusing in any scene. Phase-detection AF has 99 points, while contrast-detection AF has 25 points. AF Illuminator: Built-in, LED type, with a range of approx. 1-9.8' / 0.3-3.0 m (with E PZ16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS attached). AF micro adjustment with LA-EA2 (sold separately)
3" 921K-Dot TFT LCD
Angle Adjustment: Up - Approx. 90 degrees, Down - Approx. 45 degrees. Brightness Control: Manual (5 steps between -2 and +2), Sunny Weather mode. Real-time image adjustment display: On/Off. Peaking: Yes (Level setting: High/Mid/Low/Off, Color: White/Red/Yellow). Customization: Graphic display/Display all info/Big font size display/No display info/Levels/Histogram/Viewfinder
XGA Tru-Finder OLED Viewfinder
This eye-level, through-the-lens viewfinder begins with 2359K dots for improved resolution and a high contrast ratio for incredible depth. OLED reduces motion blur to a bare minimum. You can also see the results of camera adjustments in real time with striking color and detail. Brightness control: Auto, Manual (3 steps between -1 and +1). Display: Basic info; Levels; Histogram
Wi-Fi Sharing
Wi-Fi capability lets users transfer photos directly to smartphones and tablets with the PlayMemories mobile app. Wi-Fi capability allows for sharing, viewing and saving photos for expanded photo-shooting enjoyment. Photos can be easily transferred to smartphones and tablets, viewed on large screen TVs, or saved to PCs.
Advanced Control Dial
Mode control dial and Quick Navi assure quick and intuitive operation comparable to a DSLR's. Control dial and Fn (function) button combine to facilitate speed in getting the shot.
Full HD Movies at 60p/60i/24p
Capture HD movies in your choice of smooth 60p, standard 60i or cinematic 24p, all at full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. AVCHD codec delivers exceptional picture quality. MP4 codec offers smaller files for easier upload to the web.
Multi-Interface Shoe
Unlike conventional cameras, the NEX-6 features a newly developed Multi-Interface Shoe that expands compatibility with Handycam accessories, thus raising the potential for photo/movie shooting.
Built-in GN6 Pop-up Flash
A built-in Guide Number 6 flash is located on top of the camera. It is ideal for shooting in dimly lit settings and can be used as a fill flash when shooting in bright sunshine or to produce catch lights in portraits. The flash combines with high ISO 3200 (extendable up to 25600) and a large APS-C HD CMOS sensor for beautiful low-light photos. Max angle of coverage equivalent to 16mm focal length
Electronic Shutter
Vertical-traverse, focal-plane type. Speeds: Still images: 1/4000 to 30s (Bulb); Movies: 1/4000 to 1/4 (1/3 steps), up to 1/60 in AUTO mode (up to 1/30 in Auto slow shutter)
Fast 10fps Burst Shooting
Continuous shooting: Max. 3fps; Speed Priority: Max.10 fps. Maximum number of frames: Up to 15 in Fine mode, 16 in Standard, 11 in RAW, 10 in RAW+JPEG
Picture Effect Mode
There are 11 picture effects modes to choose from: Posterization (Color, B/W), Pop Color, Retro Photo, Partial Color (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow), Soft High-key, High Contrast Monochrome, Toy Camera (Normal, Cool, Warm, Green, Magenta), Soft Focus, HDR Painting, Rich-tone Monochrome, and Miniature. Each is unique and each gives you a way to make your images and videos pop.
Photo Creativity Interface
The Photo Creativity interface enables you to easily enjoy the creative expression of SLR-quality digital imaging without the complicated settings. Changes can be made using the control dial with results seen in real time on the LCD. Settings include: Background Defocus, Brightness, Color, Vividness and most Picture Effects.
Auto Portrait Framing
Simply photograph a person and Auto Portrait Framing will save an additional, optimally framed image in portrait or landscape orientation. Combining Face Detection and By Pixel Super Resolution technologies with rule of thirds, Auto Portrait Framing provides composed and appealingly balanced full resolution portraits.
Clear Image Zoom
Utilizing Sony's exclusive By Pixel Super Resolution Technology, Clear Image Zoom increases the effective focal length of your lens up to 2x by digitally magnifying the center of your image with minimal degradation. It virtually doubles the effective focal length of whatever lens you're using providing greater shooting flexibility.
Digital Zoom
Approx. 4x (still images and movies)
Convenient USB Charging
Easily recharge the camera via USB charging. Simply connect the bundled USB cable and recharge the battery without removing it from the camera, either via AC outlet or PC connection.
Auto HDR Built Into Camera
High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography captures more scene contrast than a single exposure can handle by combining the best highlight detail from one shot and the best shadow detail from another for one incredible shot. Until recently, you needed a computer and editing software. Sony builds HDR in. Handles severe backlighting and other high-contrast scenes. (Recommended for still subjects.). Auto Exposure Difference, Exposure difference Level (1.0-6.0 EV at 1.0 EV step), off
6-Image Layering
The camera leverages the large, APS-C image sensor and captures six images in a fraction of a second. The camera then combines the data from the 6 different images up to ISO 25600 to create a single image. This method is used to control blur in Anti-Motion Blur mode or to get cleaner, sharper nighttime pictures in Hand-held Twilight mode.
Sweep Panorama Technology
Capture expansive landscapes automatically. Press the shutter, sweep vertically or horizontally. The camera does the rest, continuously shooting images and stitching them together for up to a 23MP image size. The camera is capable of up to a 202-deg; sweep angle (16mm focal length).
Anti-Motion Blur Mode
Corrects for subject movement to capture clean, sharp images in low light. The camera leverages the large, APS-C image sensor and captures six images in a fraction of a second. Combining the data from all six creates a single image that minimizes subject blur.
Intelligent Auto Focus
Pre-focuses as you compose the shot, further reducing focusing time to a bare minimum.
Peaking AF Display
The Peaking AF display makes precise manual focusing much easier by highlighting the edges that are in focus in your choice of three colors (white, red, or yellow). This is especially helpful during macro or portrait photography where your focal plane can make or break your shot.
Manual Focus Assist
Greatly magnifies the viewfinder image (4.8x, 9.6x) when you touch the focus ring, making it easy to get razor-sharp images. Works with E-mount lenses only.
Enhanced Tracking Focus
Tracking Focus continuously tracks a user-designated subject and is now more effective at tracking people. If the subject turns away from the camera, face-detection tracking automatically switches to subject tracking and continues tracking.
Face Detection Technology
The camera can automatically detect up to eight individual faces and adjust focus, exposure, white balance and flash to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends. It can prioritize children or adults.
Smile Shutter Technology
Captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply select the Smile Shutter mode and the camera takes the picture automatically. You can prioritize children or adults and adjust the smile sensitivity.
D-Range Optimizer (DRO)
Improves results with backlit subjects and recovers details hidden in shadows. Settings include Auto Level with a choice of five operating levels and Off.
Exposure Compensation
Still images: +/- 3 EV in 1/3EV steps; Movies: +/- 2 EV in 1/3EV steps
Exposure Bracketing
With 1/3, 2/3, 1, 2, 3EV increments; 3 frames
Noise Reduction
Long Exposure NR: (On/Off, available at shutter speeds longer than 1 second). High ISO NR: (High/Normal/Low)
Creative Styles (6 Modes)
Control how the camera processes your images with six finishing styles: Standard, Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset and B&W (Contrast (-3 to +3 steps)). You can even fine-tune contrast, saturation (-3 to +3 steps), and sharpness (-3 to +3 steps) to your personal taste.
PhotoTV HD Compatibility
Optimizes compatible BRAVIA televisions for flattering display of digital pictures.
MS Duo/ SD Slot
For cost-effective, convenient storage and sharing of your images, the camera accepts Memory Stick PRO Duo/Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC media (Class 4 or higher recommended). Memory card is required (sold separately).
Anti-Dust Sensor
Anti-Dust Technology helps keep the CMOS sensor clean, resulting in consistently clear pictures. First a static-free coating on the sensor's low-pass filter helps repel dust. Then vibration automatically dislodges dust from the sensor.
Playback
Still Image Playback Options : Single, 6/12-frame index view, Enlarged display mode, Panorama (Standard), Panorama (Wide): 34x), Auto Review, Image orientation, Slideshow, Panorama scrolling, Folder selection, Delete, Protect. Video Playback Options: Forward/Rewind

I've been using point and shoot cameras for most of my life. I always used Auto Mode and nothing else. I admit, I was inexperienced, a beginner. I was also drawn to DSLRs for the reason it would be my opportunity to learn about lenses and their focal lengths, aperture, and so on. But they were just so darn bulky. Then mirrorless came out and I was so attracted to the Sony NEXs. I picked up a Tamron 18-200 and the Zeiss 24 and I started to shoot and experiment with all settings, ISO, Exposure, DOF, White Balance, and I started shooting in all kinds of scenarios and got some really great results. I am happy to report that even as a beginner, the menus weren't all that bad to navigate through (maybe because it's my first manual camera). Most of the desired options were just a couple button presses away. I am amazed by the clarity and punch I got from the JPGs. And it performed moderately well in low light. I am also learning how to edit RAW/DNG files as well and they turned out to appear extremely crisp. Excited to finally learn the flexibility of editing RAWs. 16MP is the sweet spot in my opinion. I remember going to a Sony store and the employee demoed the 4K TVs. Surprisingly, the images that were being displayed came directly from an NEX-6! Was proud to be an owner of a camera that produced superb photos. I'm glad to say that this camera has livened up my interest of photography altogether. I would say my only setback with the cam is that it's not weatherproofed in any way.

    Paired with the 18-200 lens.

Good: picture quality (compared to a 7D or Rebel or p&s), lightweight (compared to 7D with 24-70 2.8 L lens), panoramic setting is fun, but is a bit narrow vertically.

Bad: Small buttons, on/off switch cumbersome, no ability to pick focus points, 18-200 lens causes a shadow when using the flash, very slow to focus, very short battery life.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

l'm new to digital photography, and, when l first started saving for a digital camera that'd be an upgrade from the camera that's in the iPhone 4S, was looking for a high-quality point-and-shoot. But as l kept saving, l figured why not go one better, and get a good mirrorless? The research that l did kept pointing me to the NEX-6 as being the best in its class, so l took the plunge, opting to buy the body only with a Zeiss Touit 32 mm f/1.8 Lens. This is a really, really great package, as the image quality of the Zeiss is superb.

Since this is my first digital camera, and all of the features are new to me, l can't really compare its ease of operation to anything else. The user guide and manual are, thankfully, pretty well-written, so l was able to get up and running on it, with a basic knowledge of the most important features, fairly quickly. Once you get a feel for the layout of the function buttons and program rings, getting the right settings becomes fairly quick and easy. l've been concentrating on full manual mode for the most part, so l can't really speak to the quality of the scene functions. l've found that the trickiest part in manual mode is setting white balance: l've got a lot of exploring to do in this area.

l was pleasantly surprised by its flash mode: the way the flash lights a subject [l've mostly been using the flash for portraiture] is a lot softer than l expected it to be.

The one noticeable drawback that l can see is that this camera takes a *really* long time to charge up. This might be inherent in all digital cameras, though, as l have no basis for comparison.

For a digital noob like me, this is a great camera, especially when paired with the Zeiss lens. The only unfortunate thing about it, as alluded to in my review headline, was that l purchased it too soon: l've read that in April, Sony is releasing a major upgrade, the Alpha a6000, which has "a new sensor, new processor, massively improved autofocus speeds (Sony claims 0.06s) and coverage, as well as faster shooting." And all for a lower price than the NEX-6! l'll probably trade the NEX-6 body in at B&H for the a6000 when it comes out. lt's for this reason that l've clicked on "No, l wouldn't recommend this to a friend," because, despite the fact that the NEX-6 is an excellent camera, l'd recommend that my friend wait until the release of the a6000.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

By comparison to the Sony NEX-5, NEX-5n, and the NEX-7, the Sony NEX-6 feels cheap and light. Plastic body panels. It is very compact and light weight.

      DISPLAY
The EVF display is beautifully detailed because it sports the same 2.3 million dot EVF as the NEX-7, which I own. The same goes for the tilting (not fully articulated) LCD back panel. Both are high resolution and show a good color rendition.

      LAYOUT & HANDLING
The layout of controls is essentially the same as the NEX-7, except for the PASM knob and the control dial underneath that falls right under your thumb, and are a great addition for handling, and make a noticeable difference than working with the 5n or the 7. Both are cursed with the same Sony menus that buries items within items. What has made the NEX-7 tolerable is the ability to program and customize the soft-keys so that you can avoid the menus. The NEX-7 does NOT have a PASM dial, which makes the layout of the NEX-6 superior.

The NEX-6 has an excellent 16MP sensor and picture quality is wonderful.

I'm taking a digital photography class and wanted a fixed lens camera. I take pictures for my website, social media and for fun. I love the diopter so that you can focus w/o wearing glasses. Light, compact, clear icons, great pix. No problems. I have 2 batteries and change them every day so that I'm not caught; they probably last for 300 pix.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

The NEX-6 is probably one of the best APS-C Mirrorless camera in the market as of Jan 2014. The camera looks and feels very sturdy. Has good customization buttons for DSLR like control when shooting (at the same level as DSLRs like the Nikon D5300). The in-built viewfinder has a ton of advantages over traditional optical viewfinders (eg: Live histogram, Level indicator, etc). The camera also had very good lowlight (high ISO) capabilities: better than competing Canon APS-C DSLRs, much better than micro 4/3 systems like Olympus, Panasonic.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

I purchased the NEX6 as a easy to pack camera for location work and a B cam for my NEX VG-20. Having several lenses for the VG-20 made it an easy choice. Lugging around my heavy Canon gear is getting old so it seemed like a good item to try. I use canon glass and a 5D and 5D MII for my stills but the Sony is starting to be used more often. At the shop its used with studio lights so the images come out fantastic and is much easier to use then the 5Ds. Interesting angles do not require straining the back or needing a stool due to the tilting screen. The menu takes time to learn but is easy to navigate and two custom buttons make the transition even easier. One thing I have notices is the dead on WB on nearly every single shot. Color looks great and focus is fast in most lighting. Its not DSLR quick when in low light but not a deal breaker for my use. It doesn't have as many adjustments in the ISO range that I am used to but has been very usable. High ISO levels have show to be very good for a APS-C sensor rivaling my original 5D. Image quality is more then I expected and the RAW files are robust giving lots of room to work with.
Using manual focus is a snap with the peaking option. With an adapter I am getting excellent results with stills and video with my Canon glass.

Video has been a learning curve. It will give you fantastic results if you take the time to play with the settings and just use it. Auto Focus in video has been great and what you would expect out of a camcorder. It can be fooled at times and its not instant focus but more then adequate. Seems more lens dependent in this area. Typically your going to be using MF if your doing something more serious anyways.
Its light enough that portable tripods and items like steady cams can be smaller as well. Easy to pack a full kit with little weight and space.

I wasn't sure what to expect and when it showed up I was worried. This thing is tiny and I am used to Canon FF bodies. It doesn't disappoint and has me looking to replace the Canons with the new Sony FF options. They nailed a good view finder witch does take time to get used to. Especially if in low light since its a live view. If you cant get pro quality results with this camera then your to blame. For my use its a great camera to have whether its a back up or go to every day use.

I am giving it 4 starts due to lens line up today. It will get better and there are adapters out there for every type of glass you can thing of. It is a limiting factory for most enthusiast or beginners though so needs to be considered.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

          Pros:

This camera is very portable, and can fit in your pockets given a pancake lens. Coming from an NEX-7, the single mode select knob takes some getting used to, but does make it alot easier than flipping through the menus to select your mode.

The quality of the images produce were excellent, renders colors nicely. This is a great camera for landscapes.

The evf is great as well. No lag. and what you see is what you get.

The focus peaking on this camera is also top notch, best I have used when comparing to other mirrorless cameras today.

The PDAF is ridiculously fast. This was a big selling point to me.

The section of lens for this system is not bad. Zeiss will get pricey. But the amount of adapter for this system is great. Buy legacy glass, adapt it, and manual focus away. Manual focus with the camera is great due to its focus peaking ability.

          Cons:

When comparing it to the NEX-7, the tri-navi on the NEX-7 is awesome when trying to change shutter speed and aperature with your eye to the eyepiece (I like looking through the eyepiece coming from a film background). To change the shutter speed, you will have to use the dial on the back of the camera. But that dial is also used to selected you ISO, display, and other options. So what? That means you can press the dial right instead of rotating it, cause the ISO selection screen to pop up. Missed a few shots due to this.

The ISO performance does not do well. I started to see noise at 600-800 ISO. It was pretty noticeable.

The EVF also suffers in low light, becoming blotchy. This also happened with my NEX-7.

The menus system is DEEP. Its layers deep. Youll get used to it after awhile, but simple selections should be able to be adjusted through a know rather than going through the menu. You CANNOT change the function of the control dial when taking pictures. It will always control aperture, and not shutter speed. I wouldve like to be able to change the purpose of that dial.

As a photographer, I like to have basic control of the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO with as little button pressing as possible. With that said, I felt like the menu system takes away from the feel of the art produced as a photographer. Too much flipping through the menu to get the right feel for a single shot.

With the quirks of this camera, I returned my NEX-6 and my NEX-7. They are not terrible cameras, just weren't my type of cameras.

I DO, however, recommend this camera for people who travel alot, also for those who are coming from point-and -shoots.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

Great Camera if you're a point and shoot type. Not adjustable enough for artists. Wi-Fi takes three technogeeks and a fifth grader to download the software and get it working. Dead battery right out of the box. B&H Photo makes it alright. Thanks to them.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

As the headline states, this is my second NEX 6 camera body; need I say more?
I had the original NEX 5 but the lack of VF was a huge issue for me. Then comes along the NEX 6 with its amazing EVF that you'll find on Sony's flagship cameras including the FF a99, a7, a7R.
So why do I have a second body? It is only recently that Sony introduced two top notch and much needed zoom lenses. The 16-70 Zeiss and the 10-18. These two cover my walk around range and considering the small size of the body I just purchased an additional body so I don't even have to change lens.
By now I have had the first body for a year so I have some meaningful perspective of this camera and its capabilities. The first body did a lot of trips and expeditions, some are highly unusual; from remote jungles in Central America to an expedition to Antarctica. From pouring rain and extreme humidity to hail and snow, the NEX 6 took the beating with a smile.
The 16MP sensor is outstanding with manageable files' size and outstanding high ISO performance (up to 3200 with high confidence).
High dynamic range is usually Sony's strength and the NEX 6 is no exception.
AF performance: I saw some complaints about hunting. Here is your solution: Go to settings, AF illuminator, and choose off. The AF will be snappy after you change this setting.
I do very little video so I don't have any insight on this subject.
Last, I still hear some grumbling about Sony's menu but with the ability to assign 6 functions of your choice to the Fn button and customize 2 more buttons, all the needed functions are at your fingertips.

The only thing slowing down the NEX system at the moment is the native lens selection, this camera will do almost anything you ask it and definitely hits above its weight class. I actually wish it was slightly bigger physically, almost any adapted lens is going to be substantially heavier, but thats part of the NEX aesthetic, think of it as a full feature 16mb lens cap.

I have a set of Nikon lenses and this camera with an adapter has allowed me to take a few of my prime lenses in a pinch when needed. This camera has incredible modern ergonomics. It has very strong resolving capabilities, focus peaking, built solidly.

I have no complaints. This is my first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, and has changed the way I capture images for the combination of its convenience and my confidence in the camera itself.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

A really nice camera that can substitute your DSLRs.Set it aside and compare it to your DSLR, and you'll understand the feeling and emotions that start crossing your mind. I got the 16mm wide angle with the super wide angle conversion adapter, and the 50mm 1.8 OSS lens. Both work fine with this camera. In the menus you can compensate for lens distortion and chromatic aberrations. The camera does quite a good job. I got good quality pictures with both lenses. I decided on single focal length over zoom lenses, since I do have some optics to work with. With the A mount to NEX adapter you gain access to the Minolta Maxxum lenses on. And you'll see an improvement on image quality over the above mentioned lenses. If you take your raw pictures to pixel level detail using software like Aperture or Photoshop, you may see some fuzziness compared to better quality optics. I compared pictures taken with the 50mm 1.8 OSS lens, and a Minolta 50mm 1.7. Both pictures look great side by side, but at pixel level, the old Minolta is crisp, while the NEX looks fuzzy. The camera sensor is very good for what you pay for, and the post processing probably squeezes all it can from its lenses. In fact you have tweak somewhat the settings with non NEX lenses to get better contrast. With other lens adapters you will loose the autofocus and aperture control, but you will gain in lens quality.Using this camera feels like using the old Leica III or M series cameras. It's like having the optics in your hands, and forgetting about the camera body, which has superb technological advantages and compactness over previous generations of cameras. I never had a problem switching from rangefinders to SLRs, DSLRs, so the NEX 6 fits perfectly with a wide range of Sony Alpha-Minolta, Canon, Nikon, Leica, Olympus, and any optics you might want to use. Your old lenses are alive again. So to round it up, the NEX 6 is a very nice compact camera with interchangeable optics to take advantage from. If you just love photography and taking pictures, you should try one and decide for yourself.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

I was struggling to choose between the NEX7 and the NEX6 and decided to go for the 6 since I heard about the new NEX7 replacement is coming soon. I bought it cause I have a Sony Zeiss 24mm f1.8 lying around and want to use the lens, and later found out that it is also a perfect match to use old Leica M lens for street photography. The focus peak rocks, and being a Fuji X-pro 1 user before I can tell you that manual focus is more efficient and effective.Try a SLR Carl Zeiss lens as well but the adaptor ring is too bulky (to make up for the short distance from lens to camera they need that length while for range finder lens like Leica does not). In short the Leica adaptor is like 1/2 to 1/3 of the length of the SLR lens adaptor (length depend on make of SLR camera) making Leica lens a perfect match for this camera especially for balance and handling.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

Coming from a NEX5N, the 6 bridges the gap in having a good viewfinder and manual controls. The dial saves times in switching modes. Nice grip and robust as compared to the 5N. The wifi has it's limitations but works and makes a wonderful feature to the cam. The battery life falls short unfortunately and the charge takes quite a while.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-6 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):
