Comments about Freehands Men's Soft Shell Ski/Snowboard Gloves (Large):

After purchasing the more basic Freehands Stretch Gloves and using them it became clear to me that I needed something heavier for colder weather (that is below 35°), so I ordered these. However, I initially ordered the large size of this Ski/Snowboard version because the Medium Stretch Gloves fit my hand so tight that I thought the large would probably work better and also if I wanted a liner they would probably be better for that as well.

I was mistaken in that the large was actually too big (for my medium hands) and also, perhaps ironically, when I tried using a liner with them it only served to push my fingertips back causing them to be less dexterous and more awkward. So I have exchanged them for the medium-size that fit better and also not only allow the use of a liner, but make it function better as well.

So in essence, I have found these to be very good in really cold weather that is when chills down to 0°F or less with some qualification. The only problem I found is that if you do not use a liner the fingertips, which are not insulated, may allow your index finger in particular to become quite cold. So I do recommend using a liner as long as it's thin and flexible enough so that it does not interfere with the dexterity. One other drawback, is that the tips of the index finger and thumb do not provide much friction which is not really a problem on a Canon DSLR, but can be somewhat dysfunctional on a polished surface.

So the bottom line is that although there is some loss of dexterity between these and the Freehands Stretch Gloves, it is really not practically speaking, a problem when it's really cold. So actually I decided to keep both styles, but I again also recommend a liner for this glove.
