The Canon EOS 6D Digital Camera (Body Only) is a full-frame 20.2MP DSLR offering exceptionally high image quality and detail while providing compatibility and convenience through its design and features. When paired with the powerful DIGIC 5+ image processor and 14-bit A/D conversion, the full-frame sensor is capable of recording vivid imagery with expanded sensitivity up to ISO 102400. The processing power also affords intelligent noise reduction techniques and the ability to record continuous still images at a rate up to 4.5 full resolution fps.
The 6D employs an 11-point autofocus system for acquiring precise focus regardless of the shooting situation, which is further enhanced by a center cross-type focus point for improved low-light focus sensitivity. The iFCL 63-zone dual layer metering sensor also benefits from the autofocus system when making exposure measurements, and analyzes color and luminance values within the scene to determine accurate exposure settings.
Full HD video recording is possible up to 1080/30p in the All I-frame or IPB compression, as well as the standard H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec. When recording HD video, full manual control over exposure and sound is possible, enabling you to take complete control over the final appearance of your movies.
Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS technologies also provide extensive connectivity to the 6D. The built-in Wi-Fi capability allows you to take remote control over the 6D when used in conjunction with the Canon EOS Remote app (available for iOS and Android), as well as instantly share the images from your camera to your phone or to the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY. The GPS receiver will automatically record locational data and embed this information into the metadata of your images, allowing you to geotag your shots and map out where each shot was taken.
The 6D features a smaller form factor compared to other full-frame DSLRs, but still integrates a large 3.0" 1,040K-dot TFT LCD monitor for clear playback and review of your imagery. The construction of the body integrates an aluminum alloy and polycarbonate chassis within a magnesium and polycarbonate shell for durability while still maintaining a lightweight profile.

I had the opporunity to review the new Canon 6D and 5D Mark III side by side...in the end the 5D Mark III won by a narrow edge, but the 6D is a mighty fine camera for sure...In many ways I like it more than the 5D, especially on weight/size. The 6D is a well built camera with a professional grade fit and finish.
Both cameras have amazing low light capabilities with fairly usable ISO levels down to 6400, capable of going down to 25,600.
Pros for the 6D were size, weight (I love the feel of this camera), simplicity, and perhaps a slight edge in our low light testing. Cons for the 6D were focusing options, maybe a slight moiré in movie mode (we heard about this on the net but it was barely noticeable), some of the button placements, and weather proofing.
Pros for the 5D were options...options galore! focusing options, dual card option, and weather proofing. Cons were weight, bulk, no wifi or GPS, and complexity of menus.
In the end I did get the 5D MkIII but I would highly recommend the 6D to anyone including my friends.

I so wanted to love this camera, reminds me of my favorite old Canon Eos A2, very light easy to carry around. Some of the new features are truly groundbreaking; WiFi, electronic level, and best of all the Q button really makes using this camera fun.
That said times have changed I have to accept the fact I have to embrace digital and not just be a film shooter and Canon can't cripple (moire) the video file from a digital slr and claim the camera is good enough or pay for the top shelf - I didn't want the Mark 3 because I really appreciate the weight reduction this body presents. The moire makes this camera unusable for video at this point and time, sure maybe five years ago people would accept it not today nor should we. Just shot footage of a water feature and the moire is so bad that all the footage is NOT usable. The moire problem comes into play a lot more than people think or claim it's not just brick buildings.
Not sure why canon didn't up the speed transfer with either usb3 or Thunderbolt instead of the usb2. WiFi is fun but shooting tethered I need a faster transfer rate.
Bottom line as much as I love the size and some of the new feature if the quality it produces is unaccptable then there is no point grabbing this body. So I can not in good conscience give this wonderful camera anything but two stars because of the horrible video it produces. Again I'm not comparing this quality to what was availble back in history but what is expected by a client today and yes I understand it's not a Red

Looking for another camera body and I was wow even more ISO and HDR abilities! Everything about this camera seemed to work for me. I had already picked out a new juice box, viewfinder and follow focus on what I was going to save from the markIII. However, noticed that this camera does not have a PC terminal. I shoot flash+remote outside the studio so that killed it for me. I did look into hotshoe/pc terminal adapters but at the time all the good ones didn't have a hotshoe on top for flash.

I have only had the 6D for a week but I am truly impressed with its performance. As an experiment I took it out at night on the highest ISO setting with Canon's 50mm f1.4 lens and did a couple of hand held shots of the the night sky. To my amazement, there were no image artifacts due to the high ISO setting and the shutter speed was fast enough that there was no blurring. I plan on much more low light photography although generally not this extreme.

I was hesitant at first about this camera, but I needed another full frame body..........and I couldn't justify a 2nd 5D III cost, and the 5D II which is actually older than the 6D was also more expensive, so I went with the only other option (Besides a 1D body). I was pleasantly surprised, the image quality is top notch (Which is all that matters in the end, right). The body is also noticbly lighter and smaller over the 5DIII, and has all the features I need, just without the same autofocus. The shutter only goes to 4,000/sec and the flash sync is only 160/sec...........but I have not noticed that effecting my photography in anyway. It's a fantastic second/extra/backup Body!!!

I also have a 5D Mark III. I was looking for a less expensive back-up camera, but still full frame. The 6D doesn't have as much functionality as the 5DIII, including no HDR when in raw. But it does have wi-fi (even if this disables video), and can be useful in some situations. Mostly though, I like the camera for its weight and size. It feels very solid, just smaller. No, it doesn't have 61 AF points or 6 frames per second, but it's a huge improvement over the 5D II and the 5D, both of which have captured amazing photos. And, it's 1.5 K cheaper. So for someone with 3.5K to spend, or someone looking for a travel camera, I'd go with the 6D and glass. If you are primarily a sports / action shooter, go with the 5DIII. But if you do weddings, you'll survive (dare I say thrive) even with the 6D. Oh yeah, it also focuses at -3EV, whereas the 1DX only focuses at -2EV. So, it even has features above and beyond the 1DX.

Yep I said it. This is an awesome camera. After months of going back and forth between the 6d and the mkiii... I decided on the more economical choice in Canon's 6d. I know there are a lot of you out there going through the same mental game of tug of war. If it makes you feel any better I spent countless hours online reading reviews of both cameras and at this point I could tell you the technical spec's on each camera like I was a Canon rep. I even went to the camera shops locally to feel them in hand (3 times). The truth about owning the mkiii although it is an amazing camera, it's also a bit of an ego thing. Like I have to have the very best. These two cameras are almost identical in performance. Sure the mkiii has two card slots and a slew of focal points, but I haven't missed a shot yet on the 6d that I know of. In fact it focuses amazingly well, even in back lit situations. I shoot in manual, select my aperture and shutter speed and let the iso decide itself. I don't even question it because it handles noise like nobodies business. Conclusion, if you have the money for the mkiii then buy it no questions asked, but if you're on a budget and this sounds like a chunk of change than go for the 6d and don't think twice about it. I'm loving mine

Comments about Canon EOS 6D Digital Camera (Body Only):
Stepped up to the 6D from the 60D and have not been disappointed. Excellent balance and feel with a slightly enlarged battery grip. The pictures have been excellent from every aspect: Auto focus speed and accuracy, metering, and color. I have done virtually no post adjustments to the pics I have taken so far. Additional manual control during video is great. Video quality surpassed the already really good 60D. It inspired me to buy an external mike and am now eying video rigs. GPS feature on seems to drain the battery about twice as fast as without.

I had a 5DM II, I thought about it carefully before I made the upgrade. Some people online were saying the difference was little compared to 5DM II, not worth it.
The low light performance of 6D is much better than 5DM II, even a slight edge over my 5DM III. I don't use the wifi or GPS feature of 6D, so I can't really comment on that.
Coming from the 5DM II, the 6D is worth the upgrade. How ever, it obviously does not have as advanced focusing as 5DM III. The 6D video feature has some moiré issues, not present in 5DM III.
Go for it, good price with good performance!

I'm very happy with this camera. I worked for 7 years as a professional and have since moved on. I wanted to downsize my kit to one camera and was really torn between the 6D and 5D Mk3 (I was using 5D Mk2's). I diceided I would give this a shot and couldn't be more happy. I love the addition of the GPS. The video functionality is great. I'm super happy with it.

I am a professional photographer. I document everything from weddings & births, to family portaits and landscapes. I upgraded from the 7D and I absolutely love this camera. It is a bit lighter than the 7D and feels like it has more plastic/lesser quality parts.
This camera, for lack of a better explanation, devours light and produces tack sharp images in low lighting with minimal noise. The AF is fast, sharp and accurate. The capability of creating a WIFI hotspot and use your phone to take the picture is an incredible and well used feature.
You can't beat the price for such an incredible piece of gear. I almost purchased a 5D mark ii and I am glad I saved the money. I plan on purchasing a second body once I sell my current 7D.
If you are looking for an all purpose camera, well priced, amazing delivery in low light situation, easy to use buttons and wheels, than this camera is for you. Seriously, buy the camera and thnk me later.

Love this camera. Canons most efficient full frame body on a budget. Step up from the 5d mkii, step down from the mkiii . Love the high iso performance, I bought it mostly for concert photography. As a studio shooter as well, not so fond of the 1/180 sync speed. Not so fond of the one sd card slot either. But for the price, this camera is a gem.

Comments about Canon EOS 6D Digital Camera (Body Only):
We upgraded from a Rebel 2Ti to this camera. The full-frame sensor does make a huge difference in terms of noise levels in shadow areas as well as in cropping images and maintaining clarity. The sad part was that our APS-C lenses could not make the move with us. We did already own one very good 24-70 L glass EF lens so that eased the pain somewhat. And now, of course, 24 mm is really 24 mm, which is very nice. We have only owned it two weeks but it feels very solid, like all Canon DSLR cameras. I love the top display of settings. The buttons to adjust the settings are well laid out and easy to find. Haven't resorted to the manual yet to learn anything, even though the arrangement of buttons and dials is very different from the Rebel's. the display is beautiful. I especially like the locking setting dial for Av, Tv, M, etc. The Rebel's dial seemed to move off Av randomly. That can't happen with the 6D.
Minor gripes: no pop-up flash. That was so nice for fill on shadowy faces outside. We have a nice external flash but it is cumbersome and overkill for that very common use for us. (My wife shoots location portraits for magazine spreads.)
On the complaints about the auto focus, I haven't had enough time with it to comment. The lack of a headphone jack for video is no big deal for us. My wireless mic has both line and headphone out. I assume that if I keep the meters below 0 dB, all will be well. Haven't tested that theory yet, though.

Love the 6D, amazing camera, and very excited about it. Amazing image quality, only problem is ive been reading that you need cs6 or lightroom 4 to access the raw files. BIG dissapointment. i have cs5, and kinda mad that after being fully upgraded, i cant use my raw files. Good thing, it does have some raw processing capabilities. I have a 60D, and it had some pretty nifty options like tilt-shift, kinda sad i dont see that option in the menu, hopefully with a firmware update ill see it. (not necessary, but fun to mess with). Other than that, the auto focus is quick, the program/auto exposures are pretty spot on, i shoot manual most of the time so i dont use them, but i am considering it more with this camera. i love the full frame, and is very quick on the saving/processing of images. Overall, awesome camera. a must buy.

Comments about Canon EOS 6D Digital Camera (Body Only):
Of Course B&H had the best price ($220 cheaper) for the 6d and even through in some few gifts to make it a little sweeter! B&H was super quick with shipping as usual. This camera is everything a full-frame camera should be and some for an entry level model. If you dont need crazy fast FPS shooting full RAW then there is no need for any other camera. If you shoot JPEG fire away at your hearts content. The Noise Handeling is the biggest plus and it even beats the 5DIII. Love the interchangeable screen which is perfect for my old Zeiss Manual Lenses (no issues with mirror clearances either so far) The WIFI feature i haven't used enough of, but will definitely be handing when using the tripod and taking landscape shots. Reviewing photos on your smart phone couldn't be easier. I only wish there was a way to import only your rated images (it will still retain the rating in your exif data) but you still need to import everything into lightroom and then delete the photos you don't need. Light, Compact, and seems like the best bet for any landscape photographer who's on a budget and needs the latest gear! Don't be scared of the Moire with video either. While it is horrible. Filters do exist for $300 and still keeps you under a 5DIII budget.

After two months, I am still impressed with the sharpness - definitely a quantum leap from my 60D (which is also quite sharp).

Finally upgraded to a full frame camera. Picture quality was my highest priority. I have found that with my 70-200mm 2.8 lens that it has enough FPS for LaCrosse.

I use my 6D exclusively for natural lighting situations. It has been a pure joy to use. Its my first full frame. I was using a 30D prior and it has been a very easy transition to make. I love it.

I am a portrait photographer and this is a great, affordable full frame DSLR. The low light capabilities are amazing and having it WIFI enabled is great as well. Would highly recommend. Even coming from another Canon, it is taking me time to get used to it, but that's because its chock full of amazing features!

Overall, awesome camera. a must buy.

I use the EOS D6 to photograph family, landscapes, wildlife, flowers, and macro objects.
No built-in flash requires an add-on flash which is cumbersome.
The view screen is fixed so photographing objects near the ground and over head is very akward.
