The titanium colored MeFoto RoadTrip Travel Tripod Kit offers a sturdy, compact aluminum alloy tripod that extends to 61.6", supports up to 17.6 lb, and folds down to just over 15". The Road trip is actually two camera supports in one. A foam-cushioned, removable leg attaches to the center column to convert to full size monopod.

The tripod's legs can be spread independently, with two-position leg angle stops. A spring-loaded hook is located in a recess at the bottom of the center column, allowing you to hang a heavy object from it for additional stability.

The ball head offers separate head and pan locks, a 360° pan index, and an integral bubble level. An Arca-type quick-release plate with a 1/4"-20 camera screw is included in the kit, along with a durable carry case with a shoulder strap for storage and transport.

Two Position Leg Angle Stops
For an extra measure of flexibility, tripod legs can be independently locked into place at two different angles to enable shooting in cramped quarters, on uneven terrain or at low camera angles.
Foam Grip on Monopod Leg
Provides comfort while carrying, especially in extreme temperatures.
Rapid Center Column
Uses the same twist-lock system as the legs for fast setup.
Recessed Center Column Hook
A spring loaded recessed hook, located in the bottom of the center column, allows you to hang a heavy object for increased stability.
Quick Twist Rubber Lock Grips with Anti-Rotation Leg System
MeFoto's rubberized locking grips combined with anti-rotation legs enable fast and fumble-free setup plus weather and dust resistance.
Precision Matched Ball Head
Dual-action heavy duty ball head with Arca-type compatible quick-release plate.
360 Degree Panning
Accurate panoramas can be easily accomplished using the graduated panning scale for accurate image alignment.
Separate Head and Pan Lock
Individual locking knobs make adjustments easy.
Integral Bubble Level
The bubble level allows you to make accurate adjustments for seamless panoramas.
Carrying Case
Each MeFoto tripod comes with its own carrying case for transport and protection.

I recently purchased this tripod although I was hesitant to purchase it because of the price. I know professional tripods cost much more than this, but photography is just a new hobby for me! As soon as I removed it from the packaging, I felt it was money well spent. This tripod feels very heavy duty, which could be a con for some as it does have some weight to it but I like it because it feels solid. I am very glad I purchased it over the MeFoto A01350Q1A as I think the extra height (about a foot) was worth the extra money in itself although folded length is an additional 3". Setup is quick and easy, its the first tripod I've had with the turn locks, but they are easy to lock and unlock together when the tripod is in the folded position. Legs lock into position firmly. The camera attaches very securely (although a screw with a d-ring would be great) and the ball head controls work smoothly and make it easy to fine adjust the camera. I really like the tension adjusting knob. The bubble level is still visible with my Nikon D5100 (larger cameras it would probably be covered) and works pretty accurately, but I prefer the type of levels on my Sunpak 4STM over the single bubble in the round sight glass the MeFoto has. I attached the carrying case to the underside of my Lowepro Pro Runner 200 AW camera bag and take the tripod everywhere I go. I have not used it as a monopod yet, but I did like the fact that I can convert it to one if the situation arises. The spiked feet are also a nice feature, though I have not tried them yet either. I'm very happy with the purchase of this tripod from B&H, I was looking for a quality tripod, that holds my camera and lenses securely, travels small, and still has height so I'm not bending over looking through the view finder... the MeFoto A1350Q1A was a great choice for me.

    Okay, but some shortcomings

Used with a light camera for backpacking and general walking around.

The good: reasonably light weight and well finished, everything operates smoothly and legs and head lock firmly.

    The bad:

    1. With lowest leg sections extended or the column up vibrations are easily excited and take many seconds to dampen. This may go with the territory in this weight/price range it's a real limitation - so keep them down, use shutter delay and mirror lock up, etc.

    2. The ball shifts some upon final tightening, enough to skew a shot - compensating ahead of time helps as does aligning the head so the shift can be corrected with one leg. Others of this model in the store also were like this. One can get better heads, but for much more money and they're heavier.

    3. Pay attention to the knobs, it would be easy to inadvertently loosen the camera plate. This is easily corrected by wrapping the plate knob with cloth tape, but it would be better if this knob were a different shape or texture than the alignment knobs.

    4. Separate foot pads and spikes require a tool to change, but it does come with both.

Overall it's a useful product but be aware of it's limitations.

and it's good quanlity and nice design to 360 degree view.
cons: there is no hex wrench to adjust the leg. it should be contained because mefoto has this in other country.
so i'd like to give 4 star

Comments about RoadTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod Kit (Red):

The tripod is very compact when folded down; with the legs and the center column extended, the camera easily reaches eye level (I'm 5'9'') and, even with the center column down, it's respectably tall.
The twist-lock leg locks are quite sturdy, although I remain partial to the ergonomics of Manfrotto's lever locks. The ball head is very stable when tightened down with a 3 lb camera+lens combo.
Inverting the center column for low-level shooting is a breeze. The addition of a center column hook is very welcome.
One has to unscrew and remove the rubber feet to install the metal spikes: I wish the process was easier but, overall, it's a very minor inconvenience.

It is very sturdy and extends easily to my eye level. It is light and compact. The bag is very nice and comes with spikes for the legs. Highly recommend it!!

Comments about RoadTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod Kit (Green):

I use this tripod for backpacking and although a little heavier than the smaller model this works perfect for my needs. I don't need it to support a lot of weight, so for my binoculars and spotting scope for digiscoping this works perfectly. I've heard that it can have problems with getting dirt in the legs, but I have not experienced that problem. I must say though, it's only been on one trip outdoors so far. Well built, sturdy, and easy to adjust make this tripod awesome for it's price. This tripod is not perfect and it can't compare to high end tripods, but if you are looking for value, this is it!!

I use this tripod for iPhone 5 and the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera. I wanted a high quality product that was light and easy to travel with. I've been using it for more than a year now and it has been great! When flying, its best to pack it in your suitcase as oppose to carrying it on you to avoid security issues. Check YouTube videos for tutorials. I'd by this product again. Price is reasonable. I did tons of research before buying this one.

This is my first tripod. I wanted a light tripod to travel with, and be able to take it on a plane. I ordered the Roadtrip aluminum from B&H and received it the next day (thanks B&H for your excellent service). The tripod is well made and very sturdy for its' size. It holds my canon 6D, 24-105 mm and a 600 ex-rt speedlite without any problem. The maximum load is 17. 4 lbs and I know that I will not reach the maximum load even with a heavier lens like 70 to 200 mm f2.8. and a battery grip. For those of you, who are undecided between choosing the Globetrotter over the Road trip like I was, ask yourself if you will ever have the need to carry a maximum load of 27 lbs of equipment when traveling. The Roadtrip model is plenty for my need and I can trust it with my camera (it also converts into a monopod). Good job Manfrotto!

My previous tripod is a cheap slik model that is about 25 years old. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and catalog copy before settling on the RoadTrip. I almost got a tripod that was considerably less expensive, but decided that the reason I was upgrading in the first place was to have a really quality piece of gear. Obviously, there are lots of options for holding your camera still while you take a photo, but this is a fine piece of equipment that brings a smile to my face every time I use it.

Am flying to Arizona for a Photography jaunt and this fits perfectly into my standard backpack. The fit and finish on the tripod are excellent and my DSLR with a 300 mm lens feels solid on it.

First impression of the tripod was that it was very well built - sturdy and compact. The included bag makes it convenient to carry it around.

Comments about RoadTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod Kit (Gold):

This tripod is really a great little tripod, compact when folded, yet tall enough when opened, sturdy enough for most situations, easy to open, adjust and fold up. Also can be used as a monopod without any real hassle converting it. It's actually a pretty rugged monopod with a very nice soft grip. It seems to be well made and comes with it's own carrying case. I have only had video tripods in the past and wanted a tripod for still pictures. This is the first so I can't say if the head is better or worse than any other or compare it to another brand. But from my point of view for my use with my dslr I think it will be more than sufficient.

Ideally, a tripod will be light as a feather on the way to a shoot and heavy as a ton when using it. But, then there is reality and for my purposes, with a shooting style is more moving than shooting, the lightness but steadiness of this tripod is excellent. All the controls are sturdy and effective. With a carabiniere and my heavy camera bag hung on the center column, I am able to steady this as much as possible and gain a good surface.

For thephotographer on the go, this is an excellent choice.Thw ideal tripod will weigh an ounce in the bag, but a tinne when standing. There is no way around it. Fir a steady shot, a heavy set of poles + gravity is best. W a carabinerplus my heavy camera bag,I can get this light tripod do what I want.

Comments about RoadTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod Kit (Blue):

This little tripod is just about perfect. Love the way the legs fold up to minimize the size while you're carrying it, just don't pinch yourself like I did. I wish it was a bit lighter, but I suppose I could have sprung for the carbon fiber version. Just the right size for my Sony a7s or any other mirrorless camera.
