For the videographer, it can hold a compact video camcorder plus accessories.

The unique design of this pack offers you a way to gain access to your gear while still maintaining its traditional backpack format. In the backpack or "X" position with the straps across your chest this allows you to easily and rapidly swing the pack to either your left or right side by simply releasing the quick release buckles. In this way, you won't have to remove the entire pack to retrieve gear.

The pack is essentially divided in half with the bottom half designated for your photo gear and the top half for personals such a maps, paperwork and cell phone. The overall design maintains a thin, efficient profile. The main camera compartment comes with modular yellow padded dividers that give you the freedom to configure the pack to suit your gear needs.

The top compartment can also be used to store less frequently needed gear. There are two external zippered pockets that allow you to retrieve accessories without having to open the main compartments. The front of the pack contains tripod straps that can accommodate a small field tripod.

The pack is made from durable ripstop nylon and comes with a handy rain cover that can be readily deployed when the weather turns against you. For added convenience, the KT DL-3N1-10 Sling Backpack is compatible with KATA's optional Insertrolley or any wheeled cart. Simply thread the pack over the tow handle and you'll have the ability to place all your luggage on one rolling cart. The pack comes with a 5-year warranty from KATA.

Comments about Kata KT DL-3N1-10 Sling Backpack (Small, Black):

Kata KT DL-3N-1-10 Sling BackpackEver since trading in my Canon 5D and all my Canon gear for an Olympus OM-D E-M5 a year and a half ago, I've been searching for a good camera bag for µ-4/3 gear. There are now a few bags made for µ-4/3 cameras, but most of them are for a camera with lens plus an additional lens or two. Bags large enough for a µ-4/3 kit with several lenses (5 or 6) plus extras also seem to be sized for smaller DSLRs, so there's a lot of wasted space as most µ-4/3 lenses are smaller (both length and diameter) than DSLR lenses.I had bought a Tamrac Evolution 6 to use with my Canon & reconfigured the dividers for my Olympus OM-D E-M5 w/ lenses & it was O.K. When my hubbie bought a 50-200mm plus adapter for his OM-D E-M5, I gave him the Tamrac Evolution 6 & resumed my search for a camera bag.The Kata DL-3N1-10 is the smallest in a series of sling / backpacks that Kata made. The name of this bag is 3N1 because you can carry it 3 different ways: sling over left shoulder, sling over right shoulder, or backpack. Although I'm right handed, I like the sling over my left shoulder, so the bag swings around under my right arm. Most single-purpose sling bags are made to go over the right shoulder, which is just wrong for me. The strap not in use tucks away inside the back. The straps on the Kata adjust at the bottom of the strap / back of the bag. I find it slightly hard to reach back there to lengthen the straps. Tightening them is easy: just pull on the ends of the straps. I do lengthen the staps frequently when I'm wearing the bag; I like to snug the strap up for carrying, but I need to lengthen the strap to swing it around and have the bag rest comfortably below my bust. (The adjustment on the Tamrac is more similar to a messenger bag w/ buckle below the padded part of the strap)The Kata DL-3N1-10 is slightly smaller than the Tamrac Evolution 6, and a LOT lighter, yet I can congifure the Kata to hold as much or more than the Evolution. The Kata DL 3N1-10 has a lower section with dividers for camera, lenses, and other camera gear. And it has an upper section that can hold whatever you need it to hold: more camera gear, or personal items like wallet, keys, sunglasses -- all the pocketbook stuff I also need to carry on day trip. The divider between the lower and upper sections zips into place, so it can be removed to configure the bag to hold a camera with longer zoom attached.I really like the bright yellow interior of the Kata bag; it's easy to find stuff in the interior against the bright yellow. There are 5 velcro-in dividers for the lower section: 2 longer 2-section dividers and 3 1-section dividers. Only 1 section on each of the longer dividers is covered in velour (so that the other dividers can velcro to it). The nylon-covered half of one of the 2-section dividers has a pocket (only secured by a flap) that's great for memory cards or batteries.I was able to configure the lower section for my camera with lens, and then places for 4 or 5 additional lenses. There is a bit of wasted space because the front-to-back depth is not quite deep enough to be able to safely stack 2 of my smaller lenses (e.g. Sigma 19mm or 30mm f/2.8 or Oly 45mm f/1.8). I could have gone with the slightly larger DL 3N1-20, but I preferred the smaller size and lighter weight of the DL 3N1-10.The tripod carrying system is a length of nylon strap on the center front of the bag w/ 3 sections plus 2 straps. Run a strap through the top section and secure that around 1 or 2 of the tripod's legs. Run the second strap through a lower section and secure that around all of the legs. This method of carrying a tripod will accommodate a full-size tripod (wheras the tripod carrying system on the Evolution series uses a pocket for one foot and on the Evolution 6 the size of the pocket will fit only a smaller tripod)For additional storage and organization, the Kata has 2 flat-ish pockets on the outside of the upper section's sides that are good for the included rain cover or camera batteries or other small items. There is also a mesh zippered pocket along the front of the upper section. The zippers on the compartments are nylon coil zippers that have the nylon coil facing in and the smooth zipper tape facing out. That might reduce wear and tear on the zipper coils, but I think it makes it slightly harder to navigate the zippers around the corners. Now that Kata and Manfrotto have merged, the Kata-branded bags are no longer being made. The Manfrotto version of this bag is the Manfrotto Advanced Tri Backpack S (Small). It's pretty much the exact same size and configuration, but made from different fabrics (gray and red interior)

This camera bag is well designed. It fits gear as described. I like it's versatility. I like the sling feature so camera access is available on the go. I think it's pretty good when you want to carry your camera (in my case, a Canon SL1) with a couple of extra lens. I'd be interested in this style bag without it being a camera bag.

I have a sony A57 with the kit 18-135 lens, a sigma 70-300, and sony 35mm, all of which fit nicely in the bottom compartment. All the internal baffles are adjustable, and the construction and padding seem very stout. The top compartment is large enough for a variety of accessories or even a sandwich and apple. I really like the ability to change up between a backpack and sling support - I only wish it had a belt option too. Side handles and a small loop, at the top, make it easy to maneuver, and the straps for a tripod are workable though not optimal.

Comments about Kata KT DL-3N1-10 Sling Backpack (Small, Black):

I really like this bag. I bought a different bag awhile ago and the weight didnt seem to be very distributed. So by the end of the day my lower back would hurt. This bag seems to distribute the weight pretty well. Its also not a big bag. Im short (5ft) so I didnt want anything huge. I have a 5d. I could probably fit the camera and a flash and maybe another lens in the bag. If you have a smaller camera than you will have no issues with space. If you have a 5d or similar and want to bring extra lenses and a flash I would recomend the next size up.There is a larger version of this bag. I just wish the top was a little bigger so I could put my camera on top.If it was it would get 5 stars. It would fit but not with my lens on. The bag is very well made and Ive gotten compliments from people. A lady on the bus complimented me thinking it was a regular bag. This is good cause you dont always want people knowing you are carying an expensive camera. Ive only used it as a regular bag. The straps can be changed to make the bag not only a backpack.

I bought it in the store and though this brand had the nicest bags.

Bought so I could take my camera gear hiking and bicycle riding. What fits: Nikon D300S, 16-85 lens, 70-300 lens, SB-700 flash, 2 67mm filters and a battery. There is still a little room in the top for a wallet or something like that.

Everything fits perfectly with very little extra room. Just like I wanted.

Top notch construction and well thought out. I love the multiple carrying options of the shoulder straps.

I only have two minor complaints/suggestions. 1. White on the inside of one of the shoulder straps? Please make it gray or black. This will not stay white for long.
                    2. The top compartment could use at least one small organizer for memory cards, I.D., battery, etc.

A versatile, minimalist bag for carrying around your DSLR and a few other things.

Not quite as large as I had imagined, but big enough to fit most of my equipment. I put a Nikon D5100 with an 80-200mm lens and a 50mm fixed lense as well as another Nikon D80 with a 50mm lens in the top compartment. Not really built for two full sized DSLRs, but it will fit if you don't really want anything else in the top compartment. Seems very sturdy and well made. Advertised as able to hold a tripod, but you really just get a few extra straps to strap your tripod to the bag if you choose.
