Questions? Ask our experts:

The black Lowepro Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag is a lightweight yet durable messenger-style bag that holds a DSLR or mirrorless system camera, tablet, and accessories. It can hold a DSLR with an attached lens, 2-3 extra lenses up to a 70-200mm f/2.8, or a flash with two lenses, accessories and personal items.

The bag features a padded compartment to hold a tablet. It also has an easily accessible main compartment, adjustable dividers, a front flap, as well as an additional zippered closure for the main compartment. The interior is customizable using adjustable touch fastened dividers.

The Dual-Mode Flap system consists of touch fasteners that can be used to close the bag without using the snap coupler. The fasteners can fold back so that when you open the bag, it will not make the ripping sound that hook-and-loop touch fasteners are known for. The front zippered accessory compartment contains pockets for pens, memory cards and your phone. The bag is carried by an adjustable shoulder strap or its top grab handle for quick access retrieval. It's made from a combination of a nylon polyurethane exterior and polyester, tricot, foam interior.

Holds just what I need for quick, get-up-and-go kind of photography. This holds my DSLR with telephoto lens attached (or alternatively, my film SLR with lens attached), two extra small lenses (a maximum of three per slot, depending on the size of the lenses - just note that you have to stack smaller lenses, and there won't be any padding in between stacked lenses), my macro filter, my speedlite (w/ flash bounce), all of my cords, my ion battery charger, my filters, my cleaning supplies and my extra memory card.

It is especially good that it has velcro straps that you can use in place/in tandem with the strap buckle. I found that leaving the buckle off and only using the velcro makes it very easy to open the bag and switch lenses/equipment without even having to look at the bag. Much better than the more square bags that may tilt and drop all of your expensive equipment.

I only wish that the strap weren't built on, since built on straps aren't always the most comfortable, and I would have liked metal rings instead so that I could use my custom strap. But otherwise, this fits all that I need.

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Mica):

Use with a Sony NEX-6 with three lenses, maybe four, in the bag. Lots of room for extras (batteries, memory cards, filters, etc.), and a dedicated place for an iPad Air. Lots of dividers, and the entire inside is the fuzzy/loop material needed for the hook side of Velcro fasteners to hold on... very handy for creative divider placemnent. Not so good?: the outside pouches on each end are too small to accommodate a water bottle.

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Mica):

I needed a messenger type bag large enough to hold my Nikon D7100 and a telephoto lens and allow rapid access. This Lowepro 150 bag is the perfect size and the mica color is a nice change from the usual black (which is also available). Fits over the shoulder nicely and has enough room for my flash unit and other small accessories. The bag is well finished and should last me for years.

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Mica):

The bag is small but it did more than enough for me while travelling all over Europe. It held my Canon 6d with 50mm lense (on camera) and my 75-300mm lense perfectly fine, with batteries etc. Incredibly affordable and doesn't look like a camera bag.

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Black):

I have a larger leather camera bag from Kelly Moore and wanted a trimmer more compact bag for when Im carrying minimal equipment at events where I need to be highly mobile. This bag looks more like a camera bag then my other bag but still doesn't scream camera.I also tend to have a location at events I shoot where I can safely store extra equipment if needed. This bag is good for those scenarios. It fit my Cannon 7D with its 18-135mm lens attached and still has space for my 70-300mm. There is a nice pocket in the front to hold filters and an extra battery but that is about it. I love the quiet tabs feature. If you only need to carry minimal equipment, this is a great choice. But if you have anything more than the camera and two lenses, you will need to size up.

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Mica):

Got this bag to carry my primes during portrait sessions and weddings and I couldn't be happier! I can fit my 70-200 f/2.8 and two primes (usually my 50mm and 20mm f/1.8) and my D750 body no problem! The pocket on the front is great for batteries and memory cards and the slots on the side are great for my wallet and phone and lens caps.

This thing is comfortable even when wearing it for a long time and it looks really nice (the mica color, at least) so I feel perfectly comfortable wearing it even at fairly formal events.

The velcro covers are perfect so you can quietly access your gear but have it secure when noise isn't an issue.

            Really well done LowePro!

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Mica):

The Event Messenger 150, as with all Lowepro bags, is very well constructed. The fabric appears to very tough and it is well padded. I have a m4/3 system now and the bag accommodates almost all of my gear. In the left section I have the Olympus 40-150 with tripod collar. In the right section, I can put an Olympus 45 and Panasonic 20 under a small padded horizontal divider with room for a Panasonic 7-14 above that. In the center compartment, there is room for another lens under the second padded horizontal divider under an E-M5 II with 12-40. The front compartment holds batteries, charger, filters, etc. AND the tablet section in the main compartment is large enough to hold a new MacBook, although the fit is a bit tight. Add to that the tremendous value this is at the price I'm not allowed to mention, and getting it for travel was a no-brainer.

I received the bag the day I left for a trip. I packed it with my Nikon P7700, mini-iPad, and lots of extras for those items. It was great! I am a professional photographer, so I also had my big gear with me. But, I always carry my smaller Nikon and a iPad mini with me. This bag organizes my extra gear as well as protecting it from accidents and/or the elements. I recommend it for extra and/or small "always-with-you gear.

Comments about Event Messenger 150 Shoulder Bag (Black):

I purchased this bag for my Fuji X-T1 w/ 18-135mm zoom, 10-24mm zoom and 27mm pancake lenses. Everything fits very nicely. Using the padded separators I made a camera w/ mounted lens compartment, a zoom plus pancake lens compartment and a hoods plus grip compartment. All the small items go in the front compartment. That said I could still use additional pockets for a more organized bag. I'd like to see one or more outside accessible pockets and more pockets in the front compartment.

I really like this bag's slim profile even while holding all of the already mentioned items and it rides well when cross-slung riding on my hip which is how I like to carry it.

Even though I like this bag a lot and am using it every day, I could not come to terms with the buckling arrangement with the female section under the flap (not clearly shown in the photos). This is awkward to operate with one hand. I removed the female buckle section and had my dry cleaner remount it in front. Now I can deactivate the touch fasteners yet still have an easy-to-use closure.

If the buckle situation doesn't bother you, then please consider this a five-star product.

I like the fact that the flap has both Velcro and a snap buckle for security.
I think you could spend a great deal more money for a well known brand name and still have no better bag.

I use the bag to hold my Sony a6000 camera, alongside two different size lenses. There are adjustable pouches in the bag making it easy to make a perfect fit for each lense or flash if you have one. There are spots for my charging cable, cellphone, winter gloves, Birding field guide, and even for my Binoculars in the back pouch!
The clip option makes for a quiet opening of the bag or you can turn over the velcro for a more secure closure!
Only had it for about a month so I dont know about durability.

I use this for my Pentax K1000 35mm camera (very soon to be swapped for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 cam) and I love it! Clip stays secure and there's also velco that you can use or not use which I find very useful if I want a more secure seal. Fits my 50mm and 80-200mm lenes easily along with some filters and film. There's not a lot of padding so be sure to carry this with you at all times, don't leave it lying around for someone to knock over and break your precious camera.

Bought it as a bag for extra lenses

I bought this not to keep a DSLR in it, but instead to keep a couple extra lenses in it for fast access, while my DSLR hangs on my other side on a BlackRapid strap. I was looking for something light, just the right size, and able to get lenses in and out of it fairly quickly with one hand. After trying a number of bags at my local camera store, i ended up buying this one. The one thing i don't like about it so far is the strap, but i suppose i can live with it or modify it.I'll be keeping two lenses in it -- an EF 16-35 f/4 IS, and either an EF 70-300 L or an EF 100-400 II. It holds the 70-300 with lens hood on, but i expect the 100-400 will have to have the hood reversed.I was also looking at some ThinkTank Retrospective bags, and almost bought one (their straps were much more confortable), but they weighed more and cost much more. And i was having a little more trouble getting my lenses in and out of them. The Retrospective 5 in particular fit my two lenses like a glove, but was too small for a 100-400 unfortunately, and also, well, looked just like a purse in the mirror.

I have been using this as my main bag for commuting and getting my camera to work or to the park. I am photography hobbyist, and I like to take my camera with me everywhere I go. This bag allows me to carry my Sony a6000 with attached 16-55mm lens, a 55-210mm zoom lens, a 90 mm macro with extension tube and adapter, a small flash, and some flash bouncers and filters, as well as a power adapter, strap, keys, wallet, pen, lenspen, and spare AAA batteries for the flash. I have to do a little stacking to make it all fit, but its a compromise between that and the relatively slim profile, and it doesn't matter since I'm mostly just trying to get gear from point A to point B. I take the bag with me on walks and in the field to switch lenses and to act as a weather protector if things go south. Water beads up nicely on the outer flap, though I wouldn't trust the waterproofing in a deluge. I can put stuff I want to access quickly on top with my camera in hand. And it has a fairly slim profile, which is nice. I use a smaller bag for just the camera, but this is great for the entire kit. Perfectly suits my needs. It has a padded tablet pocket as well, though I mostly store my diffusers and bouncers in there. The strap is fairly comfortable for short hikes.

There's really nothing wrong with it, though it would just be kind of cool if you could also access the storage area with a zippered panel an the side, so you didn't have to go around and pull out dividers to get to stuff further down.
