After trying this fellow out on both a G19 and an AR15, I have to say it far exceeds my expectations. I played around with some other weapon lights but this guy is in its own class. It mounts on my G4 G19 like it was designed specifically for the gun. A rock solid perfect fit. On the AR, it clings fiercely to a short rail I mounted on my Magpul handguard. Again, a smooth integrated look and feel.So is it too much of anything? Only price, perhaps, but given that it works fine as a single-output 500 lumen flashlight, I guess that makes it more than a regular Surefire. There are a couple ways to judge the brightness since that is a question often asked. For starters, is there too much light? Is that possible? Of course it is, but in this case, unless you are staring into your own weapon light, or hit a mirror at point blank, the amount of light all good for several reasons, and an integrated light makes it even better. But keep in mind this light is ONLY 500 lumens. There are many far brighter lights out there, so while high lumens for a small weapon light, it is still just a flashlight.First, once you crank on a weapon light of any flavor, you are kissing your night vision goodbye. Once gone, you then need the light to see so the winner here is more light.Second, when someone is on the business end of this light, it helps prevent the good guy from being an easy target. I tried it myself. When facing down this light, you cannot see squat! Just a huge ball of light far larger than a person. And that's if you have good eyes. Add any maladies to the eyes and it only gets worse with flair etc. Lesser lights make nice targets for the enemy.Third, If you cannot see, you should not shoot. Lasers are great within their high level of limitations, but in the dark, you cannot see with a laser, only point with one so you have to have light. And lots of it!Forth, the light and gun are a combo. Pointing one points the other. Some think this is not ideal given that you have to point the muzzle towards anything in order to see it. To me, that's the point! I can imagine any number of reasons why you would only have one hand available. Got a crying toddler in the other, injury, operating windows, doors car keys, peering through small openings, sneaking around corners, clinging to something with one hand, dropping your stuff in a fall or fight (first you gotta find your flashlight before you can look for your gun), and always when under stress, having only one thing to locate and operate is much less than half what it takes to find and operate two things.4.5, Personally, I think much of the concern of having too much light is because experience with a flashlight often requires doing other tasks with a flashlight in hand. The close work under bright lights is a real problem. Trying to read a map under 500 lumens is impossible until you move the light far enough away, or putting a few fingers over the light (don't get burned), but I'd much rather have that problem then squinting into shadows.Fifth, if you have to hit someone with the light, it frees up your other hand for defense while preserving you ability use your last resort if necessary and with the same hand. And finally, take this baby outdoors and you've got a hundred feet or two of brightly lit up territory to survey. The lower lumen light might still be usable in confined urban areas, but beyond that, you need a car headlight or a Surefire x300 Ultra! My only complaint about this light is how easy you can pulse the light. It takes a soft touch pushing the switch in (not up or down) and I find I can easily do this accidentally and when removing the gun from a case.

I ordered 4 and they all had the same problem. The light does not work as an intermittant light. This means that when you lightly push the lever to get the light on it sticks on. It should turn off when you release the pressure but it won't.

Other than that it has bright, clean, white light and very well made.

Comments about SureFire X300 Ultra LED Weapon Light:

I upgraded to the X300 Ultra from the X200 which I believe was only around 90-100 lumens. The X300 is 500 lumens and WOW does it make a difference! I live on farm land and this light is used on my rifle. It lights up a good 50 yards ahead of me and it gives enough light for another 15-20 yards of useful light beyond 50 yards. I love Surefire products and I know that they are slightly pricier than other brands but the build quality is immaculate. I feel that the light pattern and quality of the beam are solid. No dead spots and no projection of the LED module in the light beam. The X200 I own has a very distinct square shaped beam with slight shadows in the corners on it. The X300 Ultra is a huge step up in light beam quality and performance. B&H by far had the cheapest price on this quality product. I scoured the web for cheaper prices and no less than 6 local gun shops. No one came close to B&H in price.

Comments about SureFire X300 Ultra LED Weapon Light:

Mounted to a Glock 19 without any problems. The light is so bright, it will light up at least 125 yards outside and inside is obviously bright as heck. Well made obviously since it's a Surefire. I also have a Miniscout from Surefire, it seems built a tad better than the x300(no plastic parts) but you can buy the x300 with absolutely no regrets.

I have this install on my FNX-45 Tactical. Installation was easy and the mount seems pretty solid. The light is very bright for it's size. B&H had one of the best price and they even included a pack of free batteries. Can't go wrong with that.

Bright, well dispersed peripheral and focused beam lighting. Mounts snugly with no slop. Overall the quality I expect from Surefire. Cost is higher than other comparable lights - also expected with Surefire - which keeps it from being 5 stars.

Surefire makes excellent flashlights & weaponlights. This is my second weapon light and man it is bright! I also own an X300 (not to be confused with the X300 Ultra). It is for my HD weapon in a gun safe.

I also own three other Surefire flashlights. They are all extremely well constructed and well designed.

The X300 Ultra fits all my Glocks like they were custom made for a Glock. They are a very secure fit - no worry about the weapon light coming loose.

I particularly like the momentary ON by pressing the switch from either side. It works for righties and lefties. It's stiff enough so as not to be turned ON by accident. The constant ON is a simple push of the lever - up or down - from either side.

500 lumens is enough to blind subjects temporarily and to search effectively.
Wish it had a strobe function.

Comments about SureFire X300 Ultra LED Weapon Light:

I use this light on my Glock 34 along with the DG grip switch and am very satisfied with it. The central beam is very powerful and the peripheral brightness is as good or brighter than any hand-held flashlight I've used.

I don't know why anyone would buy the older and lower-brightness X-300 model, since the Ultra costs only about 13% more. It's also nice that the light comes with additional mounting hardware to allow attachment to picatinny rails.

I have not tested this light in the field as I just received it three days ago. But based on my initial hands-on inspection and from my prior research, I am confident it will perform flawlessly in the field. So far, the only bad part about buying this item was the 2+ month wait time to receive it.

Use on both CQB long guns and pistols. Rugged, compact, reliable, brighter than any light in its class by a large margin. Large hot spot with huge spill, ideal for CQB. Will NOT blind you indoors unless you shine it directly into a mirror and look straight at it. WILL briefly blind anyone you point it at. Included switching is a bit stiff. Might loosen up with use but I bought the tape switch for use with long guns and the "DG" grip switch for pistols, which work great. Bezel is a bit bigger and longer than original X300 so there may be some holster compatibility issues. I was able to easily modify some holsters (Safariland ALS) to fit, even with the DG switch. Highly recommended, current top of the line CQB weapon light.

This light is extremely easy to install (the tool is included), it is ambidextrous and very simple to use. The light produced is extremely bright and will disorient and temporarily blind someone, careful where you direct the beam you can easily blind yourself.

Comments about SureFire X300 Ultra LED Weapon Light:
