Heard about these on fredmiranda[@] and thought I would try them out. Could not get them to fire unless they are facing the control flash. I was hoping to use them in far corners of rooms or on tables. They had to be pointing at the control flash to fire.

I use these little slave lights for special effect lighting. They are great to put onto things and make them glow with light.

This works as an amazing fill light. the ONLY drawback to it is its top heavy so the suction doesnt always work...but if you stand it up against something its great!

Comments about SP Studio Systems Mini Bare Bulb Slave:
I love the fact that these mini slave flashes are small, powerful and inexpensive. They are small enough to fit in little areas that a normal strobe head cant fit into. They are powerful and pack a broad 120* angle of coverage. They can even be held at hand for interesting effects.

I expected a bit more light from this mini slave.
I purchased some colored filters for effects with it and they make the slave useless, bearly any effect what so ever, next time i will look for something with a bit more GN

Comments about SP Studio Systems Mini Bare Bulb Slave:
I've had this flash for a couple weeks to mainly use for lighting backgrounds. The suction cup isn't too great - It released and fell about 6 feet to a wood floor and the clear plastic cover shattered. To my surprise, the flash still worked great afterwards. The suction cup can be removed and the flash will screw onto a standard tripod mount which is probably a better option.
There is no manual power adjustment.
