The BG-E13 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D from Canon is a battery grip designed for use specifically with the Canon EOS 6D digital SLR camera and accepts one or two Canon LP-E6 batteries. With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled. Moreover, when one battery is drained, it can be removed and recharged while you continue shooting with the other battery. In addition, the BG-E13 can utilize 6 AA batteries and comes with a battery tray designed to hold 6 AA/LR6 batteries. It can also be powered by the optional ACK-E6 AC Adapter Kit.
The curved design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. And the BG-E13 comes with an alternate shutter release button, AF start button, AF point selection button, AE lock/FE lock button, multi-controller, multi-function button and main dial to facilitate shooting when held vertically. The BG-E13 is designed with anti-slip rubber grip to further improve handling, a tripod socket to mount your camera directly to a tripod and a wonderful touch: a holder for the camera's battery door so as not to lose it when the battery grip is installed.
Note! Batteries sold separately.

Comments about BG-E13 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D:
There's some things you can get away with buying third party; such as batteries or filters; but when it comes to the grip, you gotta go with Canon.
While the extended battery life is always nice, it's particular welcome with the EOS 6D due to the battery draining GPS logging (when enabled)
Overall, I use the grip for portrait orientation shooting and added counter-weight to any of my heavy lens. I also enjoy the larger grip as I have man sized hands and like to feel like I have a solid grip on my $4000 worth of camera+lens.
The only downside I have (which isnt any fault of the product) is that I accidentally hit the secondary trigger from time to time when reviewing photos but that's a problem I have with every grip.
The other downside is when it comes to storing in camera bags; essentially forcing your camera bag to be slightly "wider" than if it were without the grip.
For women or anyone shooting tripod all day long in the studio; the grip is unnecessary. For anything else such as outdoor events or traveling or outdoor portrait sessions, get the grip.

Comments about BG-E13 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D:
Okay, I own an EOS-1, with a battery grip; an EOS-1vHS (which comes with the power grip / battery grip installed); I recently sold an EOS-1Ds, with a battery grip grip. So, when I purchased the 6D, thinking I could "get away" without a battery grip, I was wrong! Bzzzzzt!
Compared to the EOS-1 models (of any ilk), the 6D is physically much smaller. To me it looks and feels puny without the battery grip. (Perhaps, I have "Grip Envy", I don't know.) I just installed the Canon Battery Grip (BG-E13), and (as far as I am concerned) THAT is the way a "serious" camera should look and feel, period! (It is more substantial; more user-friendly.)
I almost purchased a much less expensive after-market grip, but I returned it (unopened) to B&H. I simply had to have the Canon brand battery grip. This is a premium product, extremely well made. It has a clever little slot to store the battery compartment cover, which you must remove. So, this way, you'll never lose it, unless you work very hard at it.
Anxious to use it immediately, I simply installed six AA batteries, which give the camera that all-too-familiar "heft". (Hey, if it doesn't weigh a ton, it is not a Canon ;-) It will also take two LP-E6 batteries, which I have.)
Yes, yes, there are less expensive ones out there. I may be a sucker for such things, but I believe it is better to stick with Canon all the way. If you are going to purchase expensive Canon equipment, then do the right thing, eh? Hey, it is only money. From my point-of-view, this item is a "Must-Have".
Oh, I almost forgot. With this battery grip, you can also install and use the Canon E1 Hand Strap (which cannot be used on the 6D body only ... no slot for the Hand Strap). I also have this Hand Strap on all my EOS-1 cameras. So, this is providing the familiar feel and solid grasp of the camera.

Just a simple thought... So perfect in outdoor shootings with lesser stress and a peace of mind, you won't be thinking your battery will last for a dayshoot. No complaints at all. This makes my camera more good looking though, hell yah!!! :)
Comments about BG-E13 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D:
quite pricey compared to my 60D grip, can't say its really worth it. maybe its metal, but i cant confirm this. other than that i did like the feel. the groove on the back where the thub rests is more pronounced, comfortable. on the front as well theres a groove for the finger below the shutter button which was also nice texture matched the body well, as expected. its well made and feels great with the body, just expensive.

I always buy a battery grip for my cameras. I like the feel of the grip, its simply the way I like to shoot. The added battery is a nice plus but not the main reason why I purchased this.
This is the first battery grip I've had with a storage place for the batter door that have to be removed from the camera when you use the grip.

I am so glad I spent the money for a Canon grip and not a third party knockoff. The build quality is outstanding. The second shutter release, located at the top of the grip when the camera is in vertical orientation, Makes for really comfortable portrait shooting over extended periods of time. And yes, Double battery life, Especially important if you use the Wi-Fi or GPS features in the 6D which increase battery drain.

I'd never go without a battery grip. Since buying one for my 40D, I just loved the convenience of long battery life, and good feel the grip adds to the camera. It makes for shooting in portrait orientation much easier. My only complaint would be with the battery tray. On the 40D, I could swap a battery out in less than 5 seconds using only one hand - with this grip, you actually need to slide the entire battery tray out using both hands before being able to swap a battery, taking precious seconds away from shooting.

Comments about BG-E13 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D:
This is a high quality battery grip that has a consistent feel to the 6D. I've tried less expensive grips in the past and they work... but, the feel of them is different. The shutter button, among other buttons on the grip, should have the same responses and feel as the camera itself. I find it distracting while I'm shooting to have to apply different amount of pressure for controls on the grip vs the camera itself. Canon grips provide that consistency.
The other thing I like about the grip is it gives me more camera to hold. I want all my fingers on my right hand on the camera. The grip lets me do that. Admittedly, any after market grip will provide the same shape to the camera that I prefer.
I recommend this grip, despite the additional cost. The cost dropped my rating to 4 stars.

Comments about BG-E13 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 6D:
When I travel to take photo shots, usually takes more then 3 days.
And this thing helps alot.
In 3 days, I took about 1300 pictures and 20minutes of video shot with my 6D with L lens.
As you know L lens uses more battery then regular lens.
But I did not need to change battery for 3 days.
Also you can put regular AA batteries after done using two LP-E6 batteries.
which you really don't have look for power socket.
Grip does not feel like seperate from the body.
It feel just like same as the body.
But It's kinda too heavy.
and that's the only negetive thing that I can say about this grip.
I really recommand this item if you travels alot or someone who takes photo everyday.
Also this item make you feel professional.
