The black Glass Limo Backpack from ThinkTank is specially designed to hold long lenses. Specifically, it's meant to accommodate a 600mm f/4 or 500mm f/4 without a body attached or 400mm f/2.8 with pro body attached. Additionally, it can hold a standard DSLR and about 5-8 lenses. The interior movable touch fastened dividers allow you to customize the pack to suit your gear needs. In order to hold the long lenses in place, the pack comes with specially designed touch fastened collars that secure the lenses in place.

For storage, there is a zippered front organizer pocket for pens, drive, note pad and other small items. Your tripod or monopod can be attached to either side of the pack using the included straps. And, because ThinkTank knows that a day in the field can be rough, water bottle pockets are included on both sides of the pack.

The Glass Limo is carried by its adjustable harness or top carry handle. A waist belt is also included for balance and stability. The Glass Limo accepts ThinkTank's optional Pro Speed Belt or up to three optional modular pouches. A rain cover is included for inclement weather.

The pack is made from a combination of durable water repellent fabric, polyurethane, nylon and ripstop polyester. The interior is a polyethylene board with removable closed-cell velex foam and nylon. The zippers are all YKK with pull tabs and designed to stay closed so your gear won't slip out. ThinkTank warrants the Glass Limo Backpack against manufacturer's defects.

The Glass Limo does as it says, with room enough to store your 500mm F4. Like other reviewers I wish they had added an extra 2 or 3 inches in length to accommodate an attached body. Maybe next year? As it stands it is a great way to securely transport a very conspicuous lenses. The shoulder straps provide great support and the waist strap is removable, but recommend for a long day. It's as comfortable as can be considering the weight.

I've used this on international flights including puddle-jumpers with no issues, including overhead and under-seat storage, provided you remember this is no hard case and is intended more for transportation than protection. As it's a soft case, the weight with the lens and body is usually just at the limit.

For perfection I'd prefer a little more rigidity built into the sides and a couple inches in length. As it stands, I think it is the one of the best methods for conveniently (and subtly) transporting big lenses.

The case is well made but the dimensions are wrong for use with a super telephoto with the camera attached where it is too short, or with camera not attached where there is no space for the camera inside the case on the side.

The only way to efficiently use the case is to buy an additional module bag and attach it to the rear of the backback. With this hunchback approach a camera can be carried on the backpack as can teleconverters, a flash and its battery pack and bracket and cables.

This bag would work well with 300mm f4 or smaller telephoto lenses but is not a good choice for 400mm or larger and longer lenses except as a dedicated lens only bag.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Glass Limo Backpack (Black):

I am pleased to have a carrier which is sturdy and easy to handle and which will enable me to more quickly get to my camera and lens. Before I had to carry two bags - one for the lens and one for the camera. Now I have the convenience of having them attached and ready for shooting.

Construction is sturdy and will surely serve me well for years.

Great product. I learned of it through a friend who also has it.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Glass Limo Backpack (Black):

Well made bag but it is too short for use with a 500mm lens with a DSLR attached. The bag also has good compartments for flash cards and cables and other small items but not for much else with a large lens. The modular cases can be used with the Think Tank Glass Limo but at extra cost.

A better super telephoto backpack is the Tamrac 5793 which is two inches taller/longer inside than the Glass Limo. The Tamrac 5793 will truly hold a 500mm with a DSLR attached, or even a 600mm with a camera attached.

The Tamrac case has more useful pockets and it also can have added onto the sides of the bag the various Tamrac's MAS modular cases.

And the Tamrac super telephoto lens pack costs $15 less than the Glass Limo.

Comments about Think Tank Photo Glass Limo Backpack (Black):

I like to digiscope, and take panoramas. The Glass Limo is a very comfortable and versatile backpack. It holds my spotting scope with eyepiece, a Nodal Ninja, an EZ-Leveler, and two lenses. A micro 4/3 camera with its lense and digiscoping attachment are carried in a Think Tank Speed Changer, which is attached to the front of the backpack. My tripod with video head is fastened to the side of the Glass Limo. If I decide to take a panorama, I'll remove the video head from the tripod and store it in a Think Tank Skin 50, which I then attach to the other side of the Glass Limo, and I'll place the EZ-Leveler and the Nodal Ninja on the tripod.

I use this backpack to transport my nikon 200-400 f/4 lens. When ordering it, the online description stated that it can hold a 400mm (I assume 2.8) with a pro body attached or a 600mm by itself. I figured then it will be no problem with my 200-400 hood on, with my nikon D4. If it worked, I can pull out of the bag and shoot fast. This setup doesn't work. I either have to carry the body separate with the lens hood on or attach the body and invert the lens hood. Either case, it takes time. The construction of the bag is pretty decent.
