The Capture Camera Clip System with Arca Plate from Peak Design provides you with a unique and secure way to carry your camera without a traditional strap and fits most Arca-type tripods. The Clip System is comprised of two pieces-a Clip and quick-release plate. The Clip can be attached to any strap, backpack strap, climbing harness, baby carrier or even your belt. Depending on your shooting preference, you can attach the system so it rests on your chest, hip or side.

To attach the system, unscrew the two coupling knobs on the Clip, fit the Clip under your strap or belt and tighten it down. The quick-release plate screws in to the tripod socket of your camera using an easy-to-use D-ring twist lock. Once the two pieces are attached, all you need to do is slip the camera into the Clip where it is securely held. It's a kind of lightweight holster that lets your camera safely hang from the strap, ready to unhook with the quick-release button when you need to shoot. If you're wearing a backpack with sternum strap, you can attach the strap across your camera for extra balance and stability.

The plate slides in 4 directions for ease of mounting. You can twist the plate horizontally or vertically to suit your preference. In the horizontal position, you can easily change lenses without removing the camera from the Clip. There is a twist lock for theft protection and added security when your camera is mounted to the Clip.

The unit is made from anodized weatherproof aluminum and weighs only 5.2 oz so it won't add much bulk to your load. If you prefer, don't use the Clip but only the plate that's attached to your camera to mount to a compatible tripod head equipped with a quick-release system.

The beauty of this system is that it eliminates the need for carrying a separate camera strap. Attach the Clip to one of your backpack straps and, with the camera mounted in the Clip, it will be held firmly at chest level ready to unhook with a simple pull. This system will also work with a hand strap by simply using the quick-release plate since there is a slot to attach the hand strap to the plate. The Clip is just as easy to remove when you're finished shooting for the day. The Capture Camera Clip System comes with a lifetime warranty from Peak Design.

Comments about Peak Design Capture Camera Clip System with Arca Plate:

It allows you to keep the camera right in front of you so it never swings around or knocks into anything. Works well on packs too.

Not sure it would be comfortable with a full frame.

Comments about Peak Design Capture Camera Clip System with Arca Plate:

I bought this mostly because I was in the market for an arca plate that was compatible with my black rapid style camera strap. I went with this system because the plate advertised compatibility with the BR strap and Arca ballheads, plus the idea of the clip seems neat enough for my needs.I haven't had a chance to test the clip with a backpack shoulder or waist strap but did try it with a regular belt. Even with a light lens the clip tugged at my belt and didn't feel sturdy. I'm sure this could be improved with the pad they sell or a stronger belt.As for the black rapid attachment, I was a little disappointed. It does work as advertised but there is so little room that it's a little awkward to attach the carabiner. The worst part is trying to flip up the D ring for attachment - I have to use a key every single time because the fitment is so tight. The plate also came loose from camera twice despite having the rubber piece and being tightened with the Allen wrench. I used a little loc-tite and it should be fine.I was told by customer service that the D ring would loosen with use so I'm waiting for that now...

Comments about Peak Design Capture Camera Clip System with Arca Plate:

I got this for a trip to a theme park. Normally my DSLR is around my neck, but that get's tiring. I put this little guy on my belt each day and when I wasn't actively shooting and my neck needed a rest I simply clipped my camera to my belt. Ahhh - no more camera/lens weight on my neck. It's very sturdy and well built. I only had concerns on the first day of use. After that it was clip and forget. After fidgeting with the camera to grab a quick shot - not successfully finding the release button, I realized how sturdy it really is. My camera would only come off one of two ways: A wouldbe thief takes my pants and belt with it, our I press the release button. The other alternative would be the camera completely coming apart.

I'm looking forward to packing trips where I can fasten this to my backpack.

Other notes: There is a lock knob on the clip itself. Twist it down and the camera isn't coming off.

The only con is that it could be a little less wide. I found the upper section rubbing my spare tire a little when I sat down. The mounting screw on the Arca plate could have locking threads as I did find myself tightening it every day.

Comments about Peak Design Capture Camera Clip System with Arca Plate:

A fantastic idea, and this setup works well for what it's intended.
When shooting with a 70-200mm f2.8 with this setup, I'd want to swap cameras and reach for the 24-70mm f2.8 (on my bag strap). Unfortunately, the plate they provide isn't long enough to carry my larger lens with confidence.

The fact that I can't use my area type plates on this system means that I would also have to constantly swap them.

Great idea that (in my opinion) needs a little bit more work to ensure that we can use this system with existing area-type L-brackets.

Comments about Peak Design Capture Camera Clip System with Arca Plate:

This clip is quite good, but it had a few problems.
                1) It is heavy on your waist with my t3i, and with a flash or battery grip I would not recommend it
                2) There are occasionally some problems getting the quick release plate out.

Overall, for small SLRs I would recommend this. The whole thing feels really secure, and I have not doubts about trusting my camera on it. Also, I love the fact that there is a redundant locking system if you are afraid of someone stealing your camera in public.
Also, I wouldn't use a hand strap with this. It has a hand strap attachment point, but it can interfere with the plate, and most hand straps are not long enough to fit comfortably because the quick release plate is farther away from the side grip than most hand straps are used to.
