The Battery Grip for Nikon D800/800E from Zeikos is designed specifically for the Nikon D800 and D800E DSLR cameras and accepts one EN-EL15 battery. With one battery in the camera and one in the grip, your shooting time is effectively doubled.
The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and stable way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. And the battery grip provides an alternate shutter release button to facilitate shooting when held vertically. Also provided are a secondary multi-selector, AE-L/AF-L button, control lock and main command dial. A rubber anti-slip grip improves handling and the grip contains a tripod socket and slot for the camera's contact cover.
The battery pack also comes with a tray to hold 6 AA batteries that can power the grip and camera. It accepts 1.5V Alkaline (LR-6), Lithium (FR6), Ni-MH (HR6) or Ni-Mn (ZR6) batteries. A holding case, contact cap and user's manual are also included.

It's honestly just as good as the nikons version. I bought a nikon version when I got the D800E, and after that my wallet had to take a rest it was so Whiped out. After I feel in love with my D800E I decided to buy the D800 because the E just performed so well. When looking for the grip I saw that there was now a non nikon one so I decided to give it a try, aside from the branding they are utterly the same grip, most can't tell the difference. While the nikons grip is made of alloy, it wasn't really that big a deal because I don't bash my cameras around. this grip works great! A must buy!

Of course, I was excited to see that there was a cheaper grip for the Nikon d800. I went head and purchased the grip. The grip is not flimsy at all but it certainly isn't made from the best made material. It will hold the camera without any issues. The two stars are primarily for the fact that they grip is well built.
As far as functionality is concerned, every thing was smooth at first. The grip functioned as it was supposed to function. Eventually, I noticed that during a shoot the camera was not functioning. The camera's display had the battery showing as empty....It wasn't the battery because I did test the battery. I had to give the grip a nudge and it started working....Well 3 shoots later, I am still having random issues with the battery power and the grip.
Secondly, on rare instances, when using the grip, you'll hear the camera shutter release, the flashes would fire but apparently the camera wouldn't capture the image....the preview wouldn't display the image...the card wouldn't have the image either......
Stay Away From This Grip because the alternate grips are just as bad....I am just going to have to bite the dust and get the Nikon grip....

The grip feels like it is well made. It is hard to get it to securely attach to the camera. Primary issue is the battery reads drained when I attach the grip. Sometimes the grip works fine but when the camera is turned back on the problem occurs. Lately the drained battery problem occurs as soon as I attach. I did not use the grip initially so when I used it enough to realize the problem is with the grip and not me B&H says too late, I am beyond 30 days try for warranty service. Will add addendum once I know Zeikos response to warranty request.

The battery grip works well. It feels quite solid and sturdy. The extra battery power is always a plus during a wedding or other long shoot.

I returned my first one after a couple of days, because it reported dead battery with a fully charged battery.
After receiving the replacement, it did the same thing. Upon further investigation, I noticed that it displays this behavior with the Pearstone EN-EL15 batteries, but seems to work fine with the Nikon EN-EL15 batteries. I have not tried it with AA batteries.
I'm now returning the Pearstones and exchanging them for the Nikons.

I've always had good luck with Zeikos, but as others are reporting, when the grip is on the camera it shows it's out of battery, but when it's off the camera works just fine. I think I'll try for a replacement.

Comments about Zeikos ZE-NBGD800 Battery Grip For Nikon D800/D800E:
The main use of this product for me is that I like to geotag my pictures and the Nikon GPS-1 is an ampere-hog. I have here to partially correct a previous very negative review. The grip looks and feels a bit flimsier than the Nikon one (I am comparing with the MB-10 for the D300), but once on the camera handles and feels just the same. The problem is that when you switch the camera on with the grip attached, it takes 5-10 seconds before it starts. This is very surprising and at the beginning I thought that the grip did not work at all, because without the grip the camera starts immediately. I also had one instance where the camera did not switch off and I had to remove both batteries. I do not know whether this is related to the grip or not. All in all I think it is good value for money, but the delay in the boot of the camera may be bad if you are "in a hurry".

I easily mounted the grip and it worked perfectly, but the next time I turned the camera on, it showed the dead battery icon.
After I determined that the battery, was fully charged, I removed and re-installed the grip and everything was fine...until the next day. Same story.
I got a Return Authorization and am awaiting a replacement. Hopefully this one will not have any problems.
BTW, the quality of the construction looks pretty good....it feels substantial and costs a fraction of the Nikon grip. We will have to see how the replacement one performs.

Comments about Zeikos ZE-NBGD800 Battery Grip For Nikon D800/D800E:
I keep this grip on 90% of the time. I don't shoot a lot of vertical shots but the grip makes shooting horizontal more comfortable for larger hands. I'm not sure if it's true but I've been told that by using the battery grip you actually get longer life spans out of the two batteries if they were used individually without the grip. I've looked at this grip side by side with the Nikon one and it's practically identical. The control wheels move slightly different but not necessarily with a lesser feel. The price difference is huge and that makes this purchase a no-brainer.

Because the power connection is at the top the wieght of the camera / lens pulls it away from the connection. I have to forcably hold the grip to the camera to get it to work. Also it has to be taken off to change the battery unlike one that I have for my Canon 7D.

Worked OK when first received. Then all of a sudden, the camera started showing that the power was exhausted even though the batteries were charged. When I removed the grip, the camera started working again. When installed, the camera went dead again. I am returning for a replacement and will give it another try.

I had bought a 3rd party battery grip for my D300/700 and was very dissatisfied. But $ for the Nikon grip is just crazy so I gave Zeikos a shot. So far so good. Grip surface isn't quit as good as Nikon's and the battery fit is just a tad snug but overall it's a great value that works as it's supposed to. For one fifth the price, how can you go wrong.

Purchased this as an option to the ridiculously expensive Nikon model. Fits the camera great, and functions as expected. The quality of material doesn't feel so great off the camera, but it feels sturdy enough on the camera. Reccomended
