The Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF produces a slightly telephoto angle-of-view on full-frame sensors. It features a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 and an 8 blade iris, for shallow depth of field with attractive bokeh. The focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been "declicked", which facilitates smooth iris pulls.

The 85mm has a minimum focus distance of 3.6'. Internal focusing minimizes the effects of lens breathing, which insures a more consistent angle-of-view when adjusting focus. The lens is composed of 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations. In addition, a multi-coated elements help improve light transmission.

I bought this lens to shoot Video and Stills with my Canon 5d MKIII.
Images from this lens are great. I looks at as many review of this lens
I could find as there was not many. The manual adjustments on this lens are smooth and flow with just the right amount of resistance when adjusting the
focus or aperture. My follow focus worked perfectly with no issues.
This lens is an incredible buy for the money
The lens has some weight to it and feels very solid there is nothing about this
lens that makes it feel cheap. It is not a Canon or Zeisis Cine lens but
it is money well spent for those who want long lasting quality on a budget.
I will be purchasing the Rokina Cine lens line one at a time.

This lens is faster and offers more shallow depth of field than the EF Canon 85 f/1.8, and it's cheaper, but it (obviously) doesn't have auto-focus, so taking stills wide-open is nearly impossible - but you buy this lens to shoot video and for that purpose, it's a great budget lens. The iris is de-clicked, so you can do smooth iris pulls without that stuttering, giving away that you've opened up. Having the gearing on the bezel is also a cool feature. I would definitely recommend the purchase of this lens for video work on EF mount or even M4/3 cameras. One thing that surprised me however (and I've tested this on other Rokinon lenses to the same effect), the lens barrel kind of grinds audibly as you focus, the action is not perfectly smooth.

Comments about Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:

I needed a good 85 for commercial video work and of course I started looking at the Canons and Zeiss lenses. When the reality of budget set in, I landed on this Rokinon 85mm Cine lens. I was cautious given the price was about 1/6 of the competition, but after checking out some reviews and seeing test footage I was sold. This lens was a great decision for me. I'll admit, it's not the quality of its Canon equivalent, but for the price it is absolutely amazing. I primarily shoot video with a BMCC and I like being able to adjust my iris by hand instead of fooling with the buttons on the BMCC (call me old school). The lens is designed for a focus puller, but it's still easy to work manually. If you want to get really critical it does get a little blurred on the far edges, but most people wouldn't even notice it.My only real complaint is the lens hood. I don't generally use lens hoods because I love me some good flares when I can get them, but I did notice how flimsy the hood is. I'm still giving this a 5 star rating because I don't care about lens hoods. However, if a good hood is important to you, you may be disappointed in this light plastic hood that awkwardly slips in place. Bump it and it'll probably fall off.Overall, If you need a good 85 and don't have thousands of dollars laying around, you really won't be disappointed in this one. The quality is fantastic for the money.

Comments about Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:

I have to admit i sceptic at buying this lens a2 first because i already have a zeiss planar 85mm ze, i didn't think it would be in the same league . Well i was wrong, this lens is amazing the quality of the lens is just as sturdy even though its plastic, & the clarity is marvelous . I haven't stopped using it since i received it. Being that i only use manual focus lens, its not a problem for me. I love it, its a real steal for the cost. For film/Video its a must have!

Comments about Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:

I bought this lens to go with a recent camera purchase (Canon 6D). The ONLY reason I bought it was the price point for such a fast camera. Until now, if it wasn't a Zeiss lens, I didn't want it. Caught in a financial crunch, I pulled the trigger and suddenly found myself holding something I had hoped to never hold, cheap glass. However, once I put the lens on the camera and started shooting, I realized that this was a pretty darn good little lens. The speed gave me so much room for artistic expression. The only problem I have is the noisy, almost crunchy feel on the focus ring. That was NOT what I was used to but at this price, I think it was an awesome purchase. I will buy more Cine Lens from Rokinon. That being said, I'm not giving up on my Zeiss lens either. Not a bad choice for the price conscious shooter who just needs a solid, fast lens.

Buy this lens. It's cheap, sharp, and fast.I've really looked long and hard to which telephoto lens I wanted to buy and I wanted a cine lens that wasn't going to cost me over $. My experiences with this lens so far are wonderful. It may be a little soft at T1.5, just as everybody says, but i usually sit around at T2.8 and get amazing results.

Worth every penny and then some. Sharp throughout at 1.5. Perfect with the $ follow focus by Hondo Garage. (Pro kit has the 0.8 gear to match)

Rarely should believe a product that claims to have great value and a great price, but this lens does. Without a heftier name brand and no photography electronics, this lens is sold at a reasonable price while holding canon level quality.

Because of the lack of electronics a photographer should be weary of this lens, but I use it almost exclusively for videography/cinematography and its great!

Comments about Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:

I purchased the three Rokinon lenses (24mm, 35mm, and 85) together for less then half the price of the Zeiss and Canon primes for my Canon C100. The reason I bring up the comparison to the expensive Zeiss and Canon primes is because well everyone on the Internet is throwing these three lenses in reviews together. I have never seen anyone compare a Nissan Maxima or even an Audi with a Ferrari or Lamborghini, which is what I think of when people compare these three types of lenses. However, these lenses are fantastic and are worth comparing since the benefits in these lenses are the price, quality of image and build. In comparison with the more expensive primes are slight noticeable breathing when focusing. When light goes across the lens there is a noticeable purplish hue to the image, not always, but it is there. The bokeh is great but not perfectly round as you start going up in aperture. The manual functionality does not allow you to change aperture from the camera, but that's the case most of the time outside of using certain lenses. Finally there is some grain, which is not a big deal since most people are adding grain back in during post nowadays. The lenses themselves are surprisingly built very sturdy and the manual t stop ring and focus ring are very smooth. I am very happy and impressed with the video and image quality from my C100, 5D mark III and 7D. I have also seen exceptional quality on Blackmagic Cinema cameras and the Red Scarlet. For the price these lenses are a no brainer, I recommend anytime!

This is a very nice lens. For the cost it's a great lens. I did a "lot" of research before purchasing this. I own and use CP2 lenses with a Sony F3, but I got a BlackMagic 4K and needed some EF mount lenses. Was considering Canon Cinema lenses but looked into these lens. I can't speak for the other focal lengths but this lens is wonderful. Not useable til about F2.8, but between 2.8-5.6 it has a very pleasing look. If you need speed for low light shots, definitely get a Zeiss Super Speed or the Canon Cine 1.5 lenses. But if you can stop down, you'll be surprised how well these cut with other glass. And because their so cheap you can use them in scenarios that may make you a bit nervous with more expensive glass.

I love this lens. I was looking for a fast 85mm prime that was affordable but could also stand up in the field. This met my needs perfectly. I STRONGLY recommend this lens. Both me and my friend use Canon 5D Mark II & III rigs and we tested it out side-by-side with a Zeiss. I was really impressed with how well the Rokinon stood up next to it!

This is a great lens for a DSLR Film maker, that is looking for high end features with a high end price tag.

This lens is really sharp at T-stops 4-11 the lens very slightly softens fully open and fully closed.

I am using this lens for low light situation where is a great performer, the de-clicked aperture is great for transitioning between lighting conditions.

The one thing that is a little awkward with this lens is that it is a 85mm. now since i am using a camera with a APSC crop sensor you need to be fairly far away, but with that being said it is a great outdoor landscape lens. the lens has great boca!!.

A great lens to have in your arsenal.
Purchase within a set of Rokinon lenses.
Turns into a 100mm (with my cropped sensor).
Very nice detail on subjects. As long as you know how to use a manual lens, you can't go wrong!

Comments about Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF:

This lens is wonderful. You probably won't want to use it bellow 2.8 if you are really worried about sharpness, but if you are in a lighting pinch it is nice to be able to get down to 1.5.

Really the reason I got this lens was not the amazing optics that it has, but it's cine construction. Long rotation for focus as opposed to the Canon lenses I was using before. Although they were sharper this was much much much easier to use in a film workflow.

I got this as apart of the 3 lens cine kit. And the price per lens on that package is ridiculous when you think about what you are getting.

No it is not as good as its Cine (Canon, Ziess, Schneider) lens counterparts. But for being 10x cheaper it is nowhere close to 10x less quality.
