The Windows 8 Pro Upgrade DVD from Microsoft is a Windows upgrade requiring Windows XP SP3 or higher. With Windows 8 you can interact with your computer in an entirely new way. One of the most notable features found within Windows 8 Pro is the Start Screen. This intuitive Start Screen puts your entire computer on one screen by providing you tiles allowing you to interact with virtually every aspect of your computer from email, to chat, to applications. You can also use this same intuitive interface on a variety of devices that run Windows 8 including desktop PCs, tablets, and touch screen PCs.
Cloud connectivity is another major feature found in Windows 8. Simply set up a Microsoft account, and you can access and manage various aspects of your account from any Windows 8 device. Utilize the Mail and Messaging apps to keep in touch with friends, family, and co-workers by linking to other social networking accounts such as Facebook and Twitter. Comments about Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Upgrade DVD:
I bought this because my wife just got a new computer for her business and, well, you have to get win8 on it. So, I needed to purchase/install so that I could help her if she had any questions. I like it for the most part... I wish more apps would run in the "metro" style and more had updating tiles (not even office 2013 does!?? really?).. anyway overall its fine. Could use some improvements. I had to do some searching to get it to dual boot with my win7 but it works fine now.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Upgrade DVD:
Finally got rid of Vista and got Win 8. It does seem to run faster, and I hope it will be less buggy, but that remains to be seen. It essentially has two desktops which is fine, but I wish I could figure out how to shut down without pressing control/alt/delete. Most of my old programs work with it, but some things had to be updated, such as games.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Upgrade DVD:
There is a bit of a learning curve, but not too bad. Take a few minutes to memorize the top 5 keyboard shortcuts. Win8 is faster than Win, uses fewer resources (3 generations of an operating system now that will run as well or better on the same hardware), and you definitely do not need a touch screen to take advantage of it.
The one caveat is that changes were made in the TAPI dll in Windows, and some VoIP client software including Shoretel Communicator does not function properly. This is Shoretel's failure, not Windows 8's. Windows 8 was available to developers for a long time and Shoretel had plenty of time to implement a patch if they had made any commitment to doing so.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Upgrade DVD:
You cannot have Windows 8 Firewall and Norton Firewall installed at the same time. Neither product gives you any warning. This took me many hours to figure out.
After the frustration, I did find satisfaction playing with new features of Windows 8.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Upgrade DVD:
Conveniently includes 32 bit and 64 bit upgrade disc. Very easy to install. Different than previous versions of windows but not a big learning curve. For me definite improvements for my use. One issue is using this upgrade version for a clean install on a new hdd. It can be done but you have to do some registry changes before you can activate the license.
