Comments about Olympus LS-12 Linear PCM Recorder:

I owned LS-10 too. The reason I bought LS-12 is the battery life. The battery life is incredibly good and the audio quality of recordings is excellent. Most importantly, the recording quality of the LS-12 seems very good. The quality levels go all the way up to 24-bit 96 khz., which is impressive, and higher than I generally need.

Comments about Olympus LS-12 Linear PCM Recorder:

Does everything it is supposed to do, so far. There are many functions, that are not intuitive, in the detailed manual that you can download - supposedly the manual is also on the device as shipped, but I downloaded it.

Worked just fine - bought two of these for recording live spoken events.

Comments about Olympus LS-12 Linear PCM Recorder:

I make microbudget shorts but wanted to buy a sound recorder for my shoots that would'nt drain my wallet and would be reliable.

The recorder is very easy to use, setting it up for the first time was a breeze. It takes standard SD cards up to 32 Gigs and has 2 Gigs of built in memory. Sound clips were simple to transfer to the laptop with minimal fuss. Setting up the recording sensitivity levels is easy to do on the fly.

I'm using this with an external Rode mic and a pair of ear phones for monitioring sound. The reording quality is much better than I expected, I've been both surprised and happy with the results.

But again, I'm using the recorder strictly for recording dialogue. The LS-12 is perfect for this.

The only con, and it's minor, is that when testing the recorder's internal stereo mic it seemed sensitive to interference. This wasn't an issue when connected to the Rode.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

        Does the Job

Comments about Olympus LS-12 Linear PCM Recorder:

I think that for the price this is a very good recorder. Obviously you are not expecting studio quality recordings for $ bucks. The tools for the practicing musician are great and very easy to use. It seems as these guys have a lot of experience making this devices. This recorder looks and feels very sturdy compared to others in the same price range. I would highly reccommend this recorder to anyone who wants to recorder sessions, voice or even playback audio or mp3 files.
