This Impact Light Stand is aluminum, extends to 10' (3 m), and has four sections, with sure-twist section locks.
If you forget to tighten any section with your light mounted, the light slowly descends, thanks to the air-cushioning of this stand. This useful feature saves equipment, and fingers from harm during busy photo sessions.

Great stand for mobile setups and light-weight studio work (I own 4 of them). If you plan on using all 10 feet of it's reach, I wouldn't recommend putting much weight at the top of it (no more than a flash with a modifier). It isn't a heavy duty studio stand. That isn't its purpose. It does a great job with hot-shoe flashes mounted on top. I haven't had an issue yet using it this way. Sandbags are a very good thing. If you are just starting out or buying a mobile setup, you can't go wrong buying this.

"Air Cushioned Light Stand" is supposed to lower gently under the weight of the lamp or what ever is loaded on top. This ones does not lower "Gently". it pretty much plops to the bottom if you loosen it too fast.
Also, it would have been nice to have a stop or some kind of indicator to show when to stop opening the legs.

I really like the light stand but you do get what you pay for this stand is actually better than the ones I received with my studio lights If you want a good inexpensive stand I've had no problems with these holding my Linux packing and unpacking except for that one brevet on one stand came loose on the bottom and it was an easy fix

I have begun using Off Camera Flash for my wedding Receptions as well as some low light ceremony shots and I needed something that wasn't super expensive but would do just what I needed and this was exactly it. It is perfect! I heard some reviews saying the air cushion does not function properly but mine works great! Definitely recommend!

I so wanted the 12-ft Manfrotto 1004BAC-3 interlocking stands, but just couldn't justify the price as I am mostly a 'paid' hobbiest and the Manfrottos would take years to pay for themselves. I grabbed 2 of these Impact stands from the used department for $ (rated 8+), and can't tell them from the 3rd one that I bought new. Very pleased with B&H! Locking screws are a little soft and may strip if used every day. Don't over-tighten, but then I am only supporting light weight LEDS.

This is a very good basic light stand for mounting speedlight and an umbrella. It's lightweight and sets up easily and quickly. For what I needed (setting up speedlights for wedding use) it's perfect. I would not feel comfortable setting one of my studio strobes on this light stand.

OK stand for my needs. New to lighting. I know there are better stands but these are much more expensive and I do not need them since I am not a pro.
Easy to put away. I purchased three of these.

This is a well made light stand in spite of the plastic hardware. The air-cushion works as advertised - a VERY nice feature - can save your expensive light equipment if a section accidentally becomes loose. The mounting stud is solid with no play as in some cheaper stands. The legs could use rubber feet. I plan on getting some at the hardware store.
