The 120GB 840 Series 2.5" Solid State Drive (SSD) from Samsung is perfect for gaming, web surfing and playing multimedia files. In terms of processing strength, it offers sequential read speeds up to 530MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 130MB/s. At 0.28-inches thick and only 2.4 ounces, the Series 830 SSD is slim and lightweight enough to accommodate ultra-slim PC cases and ultra-slim laptops. For added convenience, the internal solid state drive comes with Samsung's Magician software, which enables performance benchmarking, optimization, firmware updates, data security and over-provisioning. It also comes with Smart Migration software so you can easily migrate data from your old drive to this one.

Ordered the Samsung 840 120GB SSD and received on doorstep 3 days later in Texas. Installed drive-fresh install of Windows 7.Consulted multiple SSD tweeking guides-applied recommended settings, made sure Samsung Firmware was current. Ran CrystalDisk and read 261 on Read which was great since my laptop is a SATA II machine. Very pleased- Solid SSD- Solid exhange with B&H. Recomended.

This is my second SSD and this beats out my first by a longshot. I recently built a new rig with this as my boot device and now I enjoy literally 7 second boots. Installation was a breeze, made sure that I bought a 2.5 inch bracket to place in the 3.5 inch hard drive bay. Definitely a must get for anyone looking to build a new pc or to swap out their laptop hard drive.

I use the SSD to replace the HD from my 5 years old Tosheba laptop running Windows Vista. It used to take 4 minutes to bootup and about 2 minutes to shutdown.
Now I can bootup in 40 sec. and shutdown in 5 sec.
The Samsung software could not clone the HD. Samsung support agent ask me to use Macium Reflect Free Edition to clone. It worked perfectly. Both hidden & primary partitions were transferred. The SSD bootup flawlessly.

I bought this drive after using the Samsung 830 SSD on my MacBook Pro. That drive was fast and super reliable, hopefully the streak will continue with this one. On typical day to day operations, I don't really notice a difference between the two. Benchmarks using Black Magic Speed Tests show the following: Samsung 830 (256GB): Read: 468 MB/sec Write: 389 MB/sec Samsung 840 Pro (256GB): Read: 512 MB/sec Write: 451 MB/sec If you are thinking about upgrading from an existing SSD, depending on your usage, it may not be worth it. But if you are going from a traditional HDD, go for it. You won't regret it.
