Comments about Samsung 500GB 840 Series 2.5" Solid State Drive with 3.5" Installation Kit:
Installed this into my two year old Dell, and boy has it breathed new life into a system which I felt was getting a bit slow. I was most worried about the data transfer program, but it worked like a charm. Boot has gone from around 60 seconds to less than 15. All in all I'm very pleased, and would definitely recommend this SSD.

Comments about Samsung 500GB 840 Series 2.5" Solid State Drive with 3.5" Installation Kit:
I'm staff IT at a production facility in LA. I'm very experienced with hardware/software installs/upgrades. I bought these drives for my home business computer.
One out of two of the drives I ordered is faulty. Samsung's Magician Software won't start up (I'm on Windows 7 64 bit). As such, I can't update firmware on the other drive(the one that actually works) which frequently hangs. It's absurd, the time and hassle I've had with these drives. They have been the worst install experience I've ever had and I've built several high-end systems in my career. The drive that works stil doesn't run correctly.
If Samsung's Magician software would start up, maybe I could diagnose the problem(s).

Comments about Samsung 500GB 840 Series 2.5" Solid State Drive with 3.5" Installation Kit:
These drives are absolutely fast. I recently installed one in a friend's HP laptop, that was only SATA 2, and the read and write speeds from the 7200 RPM rotary hard drive went from 19.2 mb read to 257.56, and write from 18.6 mb to 261.82. It would most likely be over 500 mbps on a sata 3 controller, but it is still much faster than the original hard drive. Great product, and great service from B & H.

Comments about Samsung 500GB 840 Series 2.5" Solid State Drive with 3.5" Installation Kit:
I work for a large defense contractor, and fix computers on the side. I once swore by the Intel 520 series ssd's but Intel has about made the price of their 480 gig drive unaffordable at over $500. Due to where I work, I repair lots of computers and have recently tested these Samsung drives in my Senior manager's HP laptop. I cloned his drive and installed it, and bingo, buton on to pasword in 10 seconds. I also did a read write comparison with this Samsung against the Intel 520 480 gig, and I wont post the specs, but the intel reads faster than the Samsung, but the Samsung writes faster than the intel. In my opinion, this Samsung is a great drive, and I will continue to use them, because as I state, Intel has priced their drives out of reach for the average worker like me. Additionally, I have used the Crucial M4 ssd, and the Samsung and Intel are much better drives for the price. I also must complement B & H for their service. I have made many purchases from them over the years, including Large JBL speakers, and their service is as good or better than [*]. So from now on when I make an online purchase, B & H will be my first choice. These guys are great, and the Samsung 840 series drives are amazing and very fast. I also like their magician software. I keeps the drive optimized, and updated. Additionally, for those who do not know, once you install an ssd, you must turn off your defrag, or it will shorten the life of the drive. Thanks B & H, you have a permenant customer in Texas.

Comments about Samsung 500GB 840 Series 2.5" Solid State Drive with 3.5" Installation Kit:
Bought this SSD for an HP Folio but it wasn't compatible. I was able to install it on my old Dell XPS1210 and although I was worried about compatibility it was easy to install after cloning the HD with the included software. The old computer is working much faster and now I have more space than the previous 80GB capacity of the disk it replaced.
