Comments about Westcott Bob and Dawn Davis Perfect Pair Kit:

Love this set. Easy to set up, you do need to know your setting before sealing up either modifier as it is a pain to change anything once the rig is set. Otherwise, a good buy. I would wish for stronger plastic on the extension poles, some hard wind had them bending. The stands are standard in terms of being part of an inclusive kit. They too could be bolstered to give more confidence in the construction.

If you do on location portraits in lieu of studio work, this is a good place to start. I would also pick up a few shoot through umbrellas in situations where you don't want the kit umbrella to fall into muck.

I would add some photos, however everything I've shot lately has been comprised of minors... spring portraits being popular right now.

Comments about Westcott Bob and Dawn Davis Perfect Pair Kit:

This works great for on-location work. Compact and portable.

    Halo... pros:
    - Very quick to set up.
    - It is basically, just a shoot through umbrella, but the cover avoids the flare you'd get when the flash is close to the subject.
    - Can easily reach the flash to adjust it with the Halo on it.

    Halo... cons:
    - I have to modify the Halo with sticky-back Velcro to get it to stick to the sides of the flash so the back of the flash is exposed to easily adjust it.
    - Since it is a shoot-through umbrella, and the flash faces the subject, the light doesn't spread out as much as the Apollo, which bounces the light. It's much brighter in the center of the frame than the edges.

    Apollo... pros:
    - Light spreads out nicely without as much of a hot spot in the center, because the flash is bounced off the rear of the Apollo.
    - The fabric grid makes it a nice background highlight light.

    Apollo... cons:
    - Not nearly as quick to set up as the Halo.
    - You can't easily reach the flash. You have to tear off part of the recessed front and grid to reach the flash.

Comments about Westcott Bob and Dawn Davis Perfect Pair Kit:

I purchased this set last year and have had mixed results. The set up, when actually in use, works quite well. However, the design has some flaws including very weak stands that break easily. Neither piece fits all that well once mounted on the stands and do not line up properly with the provided holes. I have also had two stands break on me. Granted, 1 fell over and snapped and the other, which I purchased to replace the first, broke for no reason at all. If you buy this kit be prepared to upgrade your stands. The replacement or current stands are even weaker than thrones that came with the set when I originally bought it and scare me when placing my Canon 600 Ex Rt's on them at receptions. Overall I would suggest saving a few more dollars and getting the rapid box set for easier install though I cannot speak for the stands.

Comments about Westcott Bob and Dawn Davis Perfect Pair Kit:

So far I have used the apollo with a canon 430EXii flash with beautiful results. I couldn't recommend this set more, but keep in mind if you use this set, line of sight can be iffy, you will need a transceiver, I would recommend the Cactus V6, which has worked flawless with my flashes.
