International Orders*Optical Stabilization (OS) provides compensation for camera movement and delivers clear, blur-free images when shooting telephoto and in low light. A Special Low Dispersion Glass element and three aspherical elements, including one double-sided aspherical lens, reduce chromatic aberration and provide sharp imaging throughout the zoom range. Super Multi-layer Lens Coating reduces flare and ghosting and an included petal-type lens hood will deflect unwanted light from entering the lens. A Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) allows for smooth and silent autofocus which is particularly desirable when shooting video with your DSLR.
At 3.5" (8.9 cm) long, it is a very compact lens for its wide focal range and Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) construction and a brass mount offer durability and consistent functionality in varying temperatures and situations.
The Sigma EF610 DG ST Flash for Sony is a hot-shoe mount flash unit with TTL automatic flash exposure and an auto zoom function that adjusts the flash angle based on the chosen focal length of the lens (from 24-105mm). A built-in wide panel extends the flash angle to 17mm for wide-angle shooting. Manual control is also available to control the flash power from full to 1/16 power. The Guide Number for the EF610 is 61 m at ISO 100 and 105mm.
The flash head can be tilted up 90º and down 7º and swivelled 90º to the right and 180º to the left for flexible bounce control.

I use the product for general photography including wide angle and telephoto, as well as "normal" shots. I also shoot a great deal of of macrophotographs of flowers.I use it on a Sony Alpha 700. I wish they would make it for a full frame camera. I have shot lots of pictures with no problems. The only problem I had was with Sigma postponing shipment to B and H. It took 2 1/2 months to receive, but it was well worth the wait. I think the long waiting time is Sigma just does not think Sony cameras are as popular as those of Canon and Nikon. It is the ideal lens for travel (photo safari type trips excluded). It does great on landscapes and moderate telephoto shots. It is a very impressive lens which I would highly recommend to anyone serious about photography.

good lens, horrible distortion
The lens is generally good and pretty sharp up to 135mm.
Big downside to me is the distortion that is not corrected by my camera like it is with original equipment lens.

Still think it's ok for walk around.
might have to add that it is not worse on distortion than similar lens from other brands. But I read a review (from pre production lens?) that made me hope for better

Comments about Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro HSM for Sony Alpha Cameras:
Purchased this lens to use with my Sony A57- I really like how it performs. The autofocus works well with no annoying hunting. The range of this lens allows for macro to distant views easy. I have an older Tamron 70-300 lens which I still use but it "hunts" so much that I usually use manual focus.
The lens is also very quiet when focusing.
Anyway....I find this Sigma lens(made in Japan)to be well made and very compact. It is heavy...but it is not a deal breaker for me.

Purchased this lens for my Sony A200. Autofocus was fast and quiet and seems to be a great lens for capturing the family during various outdoor activities.

I waited a long time for a lens like Sigma's 18-250mm. I always hated to have to change from one lens to my telephoto, and I know I missed some good and cute shots. You would expected the lens to be a bit heavy and it is lighter than my telephoto lens. WOW 2 lens in one and light. So a big THANK YOU to Sigma.

Although a compromise lens, it lives up (down) to reviews..excellent at 18mm...way too soft at 250mm. Locks at 18 and 250mm, but lens creep is unacceptable anywhere in between! I was very disappointed and returned the lens. This was the first time I have ever returned anything to B&H.

Love the fact that I don't have to carry multiple lens to get the pic. Can zoom when needed. Works better to manual focus on the Sony which sometimes slows you down and you miss your shot. Pictures are awesome at full range with excellent attention to detail. Have created beautiful 13 x 10 prints using this lens.
