        Thunderbolt to DVI with benefits

Comments about Matrox DS1/DVI Thunderbolt Docking Station for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air:

Using with a rackmounted macmini 6 feet from the Docking Station and a DVI monitor. The fact that I can also get audio out of the unit (without running audio cable from the back of the rack) is a plus, as is the fact that a keyboard now plugs in near the monitor.

The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star device is the fact that the single USB3 device is on the front of the unit.... should have been on the back, with a USB2 on the front.

            Still, a tidy unit.

The docking station set up very easily - just plugged all the devices into it. A quick setup to mirror the monitor (using the dvi connection) and it worked fine.

Did have a problem getting the audio output to work, but just went online to the blog. worked fine after reading how to change itl

Comments about Matrox DS1/DVI Thunderbolt Docking Station for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air:

This was purchased after we ran into some problems with the HDMI version. It was intended to be a docking station for a Mac Book Air. In large part, it works as intended.

However, attempting to play back iTunes protected content gave us errors that didn't exist when the same monitor, same cables were used w/o the dock. We never were able to play HDCP content with either type of Matrox dock.

Comments about Matrox DS1/DVI Thunderbolt Docking Station for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air:

The docking station performs exactly how you would hope. The speed and convenience of the hub, where you only need to plug in one cable when returning the laptop to your office desk is convenient and a time-saver.

Box runs a little warm, and I would definitely recommend the longer thunderbolt cable that Apple sells rather than the short 0.5M one, unless you're literally going to place it right next to your computer.

No complaints, and would also recommend the B&H free shipping option. Item arrived across the country in less than a week.

So far it does what it advertises it does - an extensive hub/dock with a single thunderbolt cable for connecting. I REALLY wish it had dual monitors on it. Why does nobody make this for Mac?? I was able to use a NewerTech USB-DVI adapter off this Matrox dock and do the 2nd monitor, but that's extra cost and hassle.

Bought this to step my iMac up to USB 3.0. I wish there was a cheaper box. I could see it being more useful for a laptop dock, the job it was designed for. Don't know why there are USB 2.0 outlets, one you have one 3.0, they should all be 3.0. There also is no Thunderbolt loop through.
