The Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600 is a custom-made one-piece L-bracket machined from lightweight 6061 T6 aluminum that's designed specifically for the Nikon D600. It allows easy access to switches, battery drawers and I/O ports. You can quickly and easily release, turn, and remount your camera for either a horizontal or vertical shot. The L-bracket must be used in conjunction with an Arca style quick-release platform such as a ball head or quick-release clamp.
The plate is machined in the U.S. from 6061 T6 aluminum. It allows the use of the Nikon LCD screen cover.

This went on the camera upon arrival and it hasn't been off since. It attaches quite securely to the camera body with the added advantage that the position can be adjusted to accommodate cabling at the left side of the body. Well done. The fly in the ointment is that the mounting screw is a round-head Allen screw. So, if you don't have an Allen wrench with you . . .

Well made, solid construction, nice finish. Works with the screen protector. There really aren't any negatives that I can think of.

Comments about Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600:
This is the forst time I've purchased a Kirk product and I am really impressed. I've used mostly products from RRS in the past but decided on the Kirk L plate this time because I had a girft card to B&H and they don't sell the RRS products. This L plate is very small and unobtrusive, and fits perfectly with the design of the D600. I love using L plates because of the ability to switch effortlessly from landscape to portrait orientation without having to move my ballhead -- it also keeps the mass centered over the tripod, so better balance. This plate is nicely machined, light weight and like I said, a perfect fit for the compact size of the D600.

I chose this bracket over the RRS being that I can still use my camera's screen protector. This bracket is top notch and American made as well!

Comments about Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600:
This works as advertised, except that for tethered shooting (or using the wired shutter release) you have to loosen the machine screw in the bottom and slide the whole bracket over to allow the flaps on the camera to open completely. While this is kind of a pain, I can forsee that it may be beneficial to anyone shooting tethered because it will protect the cables (it works like a built in cable spacer). I usually use my wireless remote anyway so it is not a big deal for me. Kirk was nice and marked the sensor center line on the bracket in all 3 positions (vertical plus both horizontal positions).

Comments about Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600:
This is my 3rd Kirk L-Bracket. I have purchased one for each of my last three cameras. They are custom made for each camera and fit so well that they are almost unnoticeable. The bracket allows the camera to be attached to the ball head quickly and securely in both landscape and portrait positions. I have also used the L-Bracket to attach a hand strap and a sling strap to the camera.

Comments about Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600:
I use this bracket for photograps both macro and landscape. It is extremely easy to change from vertical to horizontal shots. It is made well, not to mention being made in the USA. It does not hinder me from using all the functions on my camera.
I find no faults with this bracket.

Comments about Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600:
After looking at several options from major bracket makers and some individuals and overseas vendors I decided to buy the Kirk bracket. It is well made and the finish is excellent. Features that I liked about it over some others is that it is one-piece therefore it is lighter, something to consider when using it on a larger body DSLR like the D600, and it allows the Nikon LCD protector to remain on the body and some other brackets do not. Overall it is a high quality product and worth the dollars spent.

Comments about Kirk BL-D600 L-Bracket for Nikon D600:
Although this bracket is made for the D600, Kirk made a manufacturing error. It is supposed to allow access to all the electronic connections, but it doesn't. The port for the GPS, also used for the electronic shutter release, is partially covered by the bracket and needs to be slightly bored out by a drill so that the panel opens properly. It's minor and easily fixed, but it bears mentioning. Other than this, it's lightweight and well made. Just be prepared to make a minor modification to allow complete access.
