Comments about Field Optics Research Rapid-Release Binocular Adapter:

I purchased this product for use with Nikon 10x50 Action Extreme ATB Binocular. My only difficulty was in understanding how to attach the product to my binoculars(although there were hints in an earlier review). Do not start by trying to turn the screw on the adapter into your binoculars. The screw does NOT move! First you have to squeeze the shiney metal clip above the screw housing in order to slide the screw housing off the vertical post. Then you can attach the screw (plus housing) to your binoculars. Next you put everything back together by sliding the screw + housing back on the vertical post. I would have been so much happier if somehow this had been explained on the web site description of the product. Perhaps this is obvious to everyone else, just not me!

Comments about Field Optics Research Rapid-Release Binocular Adapter:

I purchased this item for use with Vortex Viper HD 15x50 binoculars. The Vortex binocular adapter is difficult to screw onto the binoculars because the 50mm objective leaves a minimal amount of space between the two objective lenses, and it is difficult for someone with larger hands to screw on the Vortex adapter because of the tight space. The Field Optics adapter eliminates this problem with the nut that remains attached to the binos and then just slides onto the component that attaches to the tripod. It probably saves me a minute or so when I'm attaching and detaching the binos from my tripod. It also saves some frustration as I'm not fiddling with an adapter trying to screw it into the binos as the part that screws into the binos remains attached at all times.

The only downsides to this adapter is that the connection is a little tight where it attaches to the vertical post (but I think it will loosen up as I use it more) and the retaining clip doesn't always spring into place to lock the binos on (I think mainly because the connection is a little too tight). These are very minor setbacks to the product, and I think with a little use the connection will smooth up nicely.

I'm very happy with the purchase overall, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be able to securely attach and detach their binoculars quickly on their tripod without having to screw the adapter onto the binos each time.

Comments about Field Optics Research Rapid-Release Binocular Adapter:

Apparently not all tripod adapters are a like, and this one is very different from the rest. It has a special "nut" that stays attached to you binoculars so all you have to do is depress the lock spring on and the bino's immediately release from the adapter. It's that easy. And the base of the adapter will fit directly onto my Manfrotto tripods without having using the 1/4-20 screw. Very cool! Great product.
