I use it to exclude sunlight, when using LiveView for focusing. With the diopter adjustment and covering the full 3.2" LCD of my SLR, it is what complete the focusing workflow. Perfect.

While on a photo tour in Moab, the guide had an optical view finder. Never seeing one before, he showed me how to use it and I was immediately hooked. The tool is extremely helpful during bright day photo shoots. I was at a track meet today and was immediately able to make setting adjustments. This particular model is very useful for those of us who use reading glasses. There is no downside. Highly recommended.

I use the Loupe with my Nikon D200 to view the LCD Screen. I dialed in the sight correction and now I don't need to have my reading glasses with me all the time. Now I can see to appraise the composition, histogram and blinkies in bright sunlight.

It is very good for focusing in Live View mode.Critical focus during sunny day.I am using a lot for night time shooting. Specialy good if you are wearing glasses.

When compacted, the HoodLoupe is more easy to pack. But when extended it is rigid enough to be used as the original HoodLoupe.... just as expected!

I use this product for my nikon D4 and D800,, I had issues outdoors in the past under bright sunlight where I couldn't see the LCD screen to check exposure and focus. I was waiting for hoodman to come up with a loupe that fits a 3.2" screen and boy did they come through. I love the feature that it's collapsible also.

I recently spent a day with a couple of Pro's that introduced me to the fine art of tripod work and manual settings. As part of this, they showed me how to view the images on the camera in expanded form but it is difficult to do so in daylight or to really check on focus. The hoodman does both those things, it magnifies the image and blocks out extranous light. It is now part of my tripod package.
I would prefer it folded a little flater but it still fits in the bag and the case provides some protection.

while optics could be a bit better, they aren't bad for a $[$]item. what is great about this product is that it collapses to 65% the usual size, making it so much nicer for hauling it around in my bag. plus unlike some high-end models, its soft rubber so won't scratch the LCD screen.so while it doesn't have a solid/easy way of attaching to the back of camera, i'm pleased enough that i'd say its worth it.

Typical Hoodman,well made and does what it is supposed to and does it well. The one I purchased is collapsable, a new wrinkle which will save a bit of space when it is in the bag.
