Product Highlights
  • For Prodigy Flash Diffuser
  • Spread Light to Bounce off Wall, Ceiling

The Graslon Prodigy Accessory Dome Lens is designed exclusively for the Prodigy flash diffuser, which fits Canon, Nikon, Sony, Metz, Olympus, Pentax, Sigma and many other external flash units for cameras. The lens will spread the light from your flash to take advantage of bounce off of walls and ceilings when available, as opposed to the flat lens, which results in more direct light.

Comments about Graslon Prodigy Accessory Dome Lens:

This is an accessory for the Graslon Prodigy. I purchased the flat one first then added the Dome. The Dome diffuses a little better than the flat version because its further from the mirror assemblies. It also throws light wider than the flat one so it would hit walls and ceilings a little more giving more bounce effect. My 580 EX II infrared focus assist works fine with the Prodigy mounted and facing forward. The best use of this is in dimly lit venues where you want an even light but don't have the room or convenience to use off camera or bigger modifiers. The fact that the Prodigy reduces the output can be a plus if you want to shoot at say ISO 1600 to bring up the ambient lighting but don't want to blow out the subjects who might be well closer than the miminum flash distances would tolerate. It's a bit heavy so bounce might be a problem, though you really don't need it for bounce anyway. One last comment- if you shoot ettl straight ahead with the flash camera-mounted, set your flash for its widest setting (which for me is with the 580 wide angle diffuser down). Then the light falloff due to the Prodigy will be about a stop, and easier to correct with FEC.
