The 64GB m4 mSATA 6Gb/s SSD from Crucial is a solid state drive sporting a reduced size form factor making it suitable for ultrathin laptops. This versatile drive can be utilized as a drive capable of storing your data or you can attach this drive to the mSATA socket on your motherboard for added cache memory. With a MTBF (mean time between failures) of 1.2 million hours you can rest assured this drive will be there when you need it.

Reduced Size Form Factor
Measuring in at about one-third the size of a standard business card (1.2 x 2" or 3 x 5 cm), the Crucial m4 mSATA is designed primarily for ultrathin laptop users who want to dramatically increase their system's performance. Featuring the same advanced controller technology, Micron custom firmware and high-speed synchronous MLC NAND, the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD is engineered to deliver the same fast performance as the Crucial 2.5" SSD - in a smaller mSATA form factor.
Thin Form Factor
Because of its mSATA form factor, the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD can do things that hard drives and other SSDs often can't. Save system space by mounting the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD directly to the mSATA socket on your motherboard and free up a hard drive bay in the process. You can effectively keep your existing hard drive and use the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD as a cache to accelerate the system's performance. It's designed to work as a cache or as a standalone SSD for ultrathin laptops. No matter how you use the Crucial m4 mSATA SSD, take advantage of high-performance storage in a reduced form factor size.
Consistently Fast Speeds
This Crucial SSD treats all files the same, regardless of whether they're compressed or uncompressed. This is important because the files most people use everyday - videos, mp3s, advanced graphics files, and zip files - are compressed files and thus unable to be compressed any further. While many SSDs on the market achieve faster speeds by using file compression, many of the most common file types can't be compressed, resulting in SSDs that often deliver drastically slower speeds than originally advertised.

Great little product to boost your computer performance. I installed windows 7 pro on it, and made it my primary boot drive. It starts my windows between 14-20 seconds.

Comments about Crucial 64GB m4 mSATA 6Gb/s SSD:

I bought this to use in the acceleration bay of a Drobo 5D connected to an iMac via Thunderbolt. After powering-down the Drobo as instructed I installed the card amd turned the power back on and it was instantly recognized by the device. The Drobo is used as primary storage for 18MP RAW images edited in Lightroom and Photoshop and for storing music away from my iMac hard drive. It seems to work well, although I haven't noticed a major difference in real-world speed when doing repeated edits in Photoshop compared to just using the Drobo alone. That may be because I have plenty of system RAM and several TB of available space on the drobo as well as the iMac HD. Perhaps it will make a bigger difference as resources are used up. Since I've only owned it for a few weeks I can't comment on reliability.
