The Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya alpha UV filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, a higher light transmission of approximately 96% is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The alpha filters are constructed from optical glass and a precision milled aluminum frame.

Comments about Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter:

I use this filter on my Nikon 55-200mm 4-5.6G ED AF-S lens as standard equipment. While there are "better" more "expensive" filters out there the Hoya is a great compromise and works very well. For the pictures I'm taking there is no discernable detraction from using this filter. Save those extra dollars for your next camera, lens or accessory, buy the Hoya UV filter with confidence.

I did some research as to what to use to protect a camera lens. The results were mixed as to using or not using uv filter on a dslr camera.I am less than an amature photographer on a tight budget and protecting the lens is of utmost importance to me.On one occasion I did drop my camera and the filter cracked an splintered but there was no damage to the lens or its threads. For that reason I recommend this filter.

Comments about Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter:

I use this more for protection than any other use. Although, it does wonders for day-lit photos. It doesn't advertise that there is contrast or saturation, but it does provide contrast and saturation that boost day-lit photo quality, but it is not very useful indoors. The best I have found is for protection. I shoot day camps for 1-6 graders and you never know what is going to happen. I actually got hit yesterday by a soccer ball square in the lens. Did not damage the lens and the filter only had slight damage on the ring to keep the lens in place. Still going to use it as it didn't affect the quality. I give it props for that. The reason I gave a 4 was because I didn't want the saturation or contrast coloring because I shoot indoors and out all day, and it's inconvenient for me to remove the filter every often time.

Unless you already have a 52mm UV filter there's no good reason for this to not be on your 52mm lens. It works well, it's unobtrusive, and moreover it's another line of protection.

I use the hell out of my gear but try to "baby" my lenses. I got this to cover a Canon EF 40mm 1;2.8 "pancake" lense that I received as a gift. Solid, easy to clean, scratch resistent and no noticable distortion at a very reasonable price.

Comments about Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter:

I bought two of these for my lumix cameras. I shoot with polarizers frequently and really dark ND filters for long exposure work in the daylight.

These filters are sturdy and crystal clear.

These UV Filters stay on the lenses at all times between each lens and all other filters and caps - even when a lens is off the cam and in the bag it wears this filter.

                                        Never go without them.

This is a good cost effective all around filter. The price was right and the filter is of good build quality. The multi coating is somewhat fragil though.

I'n not sure my eyes are good enough to notice any improvements to my photos with the new filter, but I now have the lens protection I need, and my shots - in bright and low light - are as excellent as before. I have used Hoya MC filters for decades, and rely on them for personal and professional work.

I bought these to protect the plastic lenses on a Nikon DSLR, they work perfectly. Quality is good and inexpensive enough to replace if needed.

I use this filter as a protector and haze manager in my commonly high humidity region.
