Product Highlights
  • Absorbs Ultraviolet Light
  • Multi-Coated
  • General Protective Filter
  • Aluminum Frame
  • Optical Glass

The Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya alpha UV filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, a higher light transmission of approximately 96% is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The alpha filters are constructed from optical glass and a precision milled aluminum frame.

Comments about Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter:

I use it to protect the front element of my lens. The glass is clear with no imperfections, and the threads are perfect for my lens.Really not much to say about it other than I would certainly buy more from this manufacturer when the times come.

Comments about Hoya 52mm alpha MC UV Filter:

For being so inexpensive I was happy with the quality of this item. I was really on the fence about even using such a filter on my lenses. My photography instructor helped a lot in that decision. He said high end Pros don't often use them (he didn't). They use hoods for sure and are extra careful with their equipment and highly insured. They pay thousands of dollars for high end lenses and want only the quality glass they paid for. On the other hand, I am a budget minded photographer. My lenses will never cross over the $ mark so he said they are absolutely worth protecting and will not detract from image quality. I use a filter and a hood not only to prevent stray light but particularly to prevent damage around active children and action. Because this is a threaded attachment I would recommend having one per lens. I don't have one on my 55-200 right now because I rarely use it and can screw it off my 50 if need be.

this is a must buy if you too cheap to purchase a protection plan for the lens like myself lol. Its only right around 10-15 bucks and it could save you hundreds. there are other filter out there but this one definitely does the job!

I use this filter on my Nikon 55-200mm 4-5.6G ED AF-S lens as standard equipment. While there are "better" more "expensive" filters out there the Hoya is a great compromise and works very well. For the pictures I'm taking there is no discernable detraction from using this filter. Save those extra dollars for your next camera, lens or accessory, buy the Hoya UV filter with confidence.

Anytime I purchase a lens I put a UV filter on to give me some extra protection. These filters work as designed with no issues.

I did some research as to what to use to protect a camera lens. The results were mixed as to using or not using uv filter on a dslr camera.I am less than an amature photographer on a tight budget and protecting the lens is of utmost importance to me.On one occasion I did drop my camera and the filter cracked an splintered but there was no damage to the lens or its threads. For that reason I recommend this filter.
