The XTNG600 Pro Series Battery Grip for the Nikon D600 from XIT is designed specifically for the Nikon D600 DSLR camera and accepts one EN-EL15 battery. With one battery in the camera and one in the grip, your shooting time is effectively doubled.
The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and stable way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. And the battery grip provides an alternate shutter release button to facilitate shooting when held vertically. Also provided are a secondary multi-selector, AE-L/AF-L button and main command dial. A rubber anti-slip grip improves handling and the grip contains a tripod socket and holder for the camera's contact cover.
The battery pack also comes with a tray to hold 6 AA batteries that can power the grip and camera, it accepts 1.5V Alkaline (LR-6), Lithium (FR6), Ni-MH (HR6) or Ni-Mn (ZR6) batteries.

I have used plenty of 3rd party grips and even though they felt cheap, they all perform what they are designed to do and that's good enough for me. And for 1/10 to 1/3 the price of a Nikon version, it's a great deal.
I bought the XIT version for the D600 because it's pricier than Zeikos so I was hoping for a grip of better quality.
The good: it looks very much like the real thing, has nice hand grips similar to Nikon, it has some weight and feels quite sturdy. It has a metal alignment pin for proper fitment.
The bad: the dials feels cheap just like other 3rd party grips, the grip was not put together well because you see lines in the joints, the rubber grip doesnt seem to fit the grip in 1 spot and is leaving a small gap, and the battery chamber doesnt fit nicely so you need to twist harder to lock the battery tray in place.
Why I returned it ultimately: the main dial is skippy. This is unacceptable. You rotate it 3 times but the aperture change by 2/3 of a stop only. I have owned many 3rd party grips and yet to have such a problem.

Comments about XIT XTNG600 Pro Series Battery Grip for the Nikon D600:
I looked into getting the Nikon brand battery grip for my new Nikon D600 from a local camera shop and the price was $ . This included the grip with no batteries. The XTNG600 is another battery grip that also fits the D600 and costs less then a third of the price as the name brand. I charged both batteries and have taken over 700 images and the batteries are only 1/4 of the way drained. I highly recommend this product for any level photographer looking to save money and get a great quality product.

This battery grip fits the D600 perfectly and all features function the way they are supposed too. I can't imagine what the Nikon original equipment item will give you that this much less expensive third-pary item doesn't.

Comments about XIT XTNG600 Pro Series Battery Grip for the Nikon D600:
Its a good vertical grip and gives you a better hold on long lenses. However grip is a little loose against the camera when you hold a 70-200 vertically. I think I can feel the gap between the camera and grip opening. The multiselector is very small and inaccurate. If you've used a D2x or D3 or D4 this seems a litle cheap. I actually prefer the camera without the grip. However for 70-200 verticals it does help. For the Money its well worth it.

This is the second battery grip I purchased for my D600. I was having problems with my camera going into "err" when it tried to switch from the battery in the grip, to the battery in the camera. This one works fine for me and actually fits the camera a little better I think.

XIT has done an amazing job with this product. It is everything I was looking for in a battery grip. A BIG thanks to the salesperson at B&H who steered me away from the ridiculously priced Nikon MB-D14.

You honestly couldn't tell the difference if you have this grip and the Nikon grip side by side. I have been extremely happy with my purchase! I did more research on battery grips then you can imagine. I personally am a name brand kind of person where since I spent the money for the camera I can spend it for the accessories but I decided to give this grip a chance and I'm glad I did! There are tons of cheaper alternatives to this product but between reviews and personal experience they are poorly made. Spend the hundred bucks for this one you won't regret it

I finally updated my D300 to the D600. My D300 has a MB-D10 battery grip attached to it.. It's been on since day one. The first thing on my wish list was a battery grip for the D600, but it was on back order. I had a function to shoot for and I wanted to use the D600. I read the reviews here on after market battery grips, so I opted to give this one a shot. I was sure I would've returned it the following day. That wasn't the case. The build is close to OEM. All buttons and switches worked, and the fit was tight. I'm still a little hung up it's not a Nikon but with the extra savings, I'll pick an extra battery and memory card.

I use it strictly for the grip and not for the increased battery capacity. It isn't as precisely made as the Vello. I had a little difficulty installing the Nikon EN EL15 battery into its cartridge plate. The grip slightly loosened from the camera body one time thus far.

Comments about XIT XTNG600 Pro Series Battery Grip for the Nikon D600:
Installs easy and feels almost exactly like the grip and body of the camera itself. I would like to assume that this would work essentially just as well as the OEM version, sans huge price tag.The only qualm I have about it is the direction selector; it works well, but it operates slightly different than the one on the body itself. It still works, but it is not as comfortable to use for me as the one on the body.
