Most of us need at least ONE spare battery for a camera like the GH3. 3rd party batteries are just becoming available at reduced prices and they actually communicate power status to the camera.
But I learned with the GH2 that aftermarket batteries just do not give the same service per charge the OEM batteries do. So I count on the genuine article.
